Relatable story. Well translated. Keeps the obscure references
The RomCom series is an extremely nerdy book, but in a very Japanese-obscure way. I was pleasantly surprised to find that all the references to other nerdy Japanese pop culture references were preserved and not adapted (Replaced) for American audiences. Admittedly it does make it hard to read though, despite the reference guide at the end of the book that explains them (they should really just place the explanations at the footers of the relevant pages). That's said, the story is fun and relatable. Yen Press blurbs never really do any of their books justice, but it's a story about a guy who developed a strong perspective on teenage life and social relationship by being a outcast. Somewhat bitterly, but not in an annoyingly angsty way. There is a lot of introspection that makes you think, "oh yeah, I remember thinking like that before," which makes hachiman such an endearing character. If you ever went through adolescence feeling like an outsider, I think you'll find something you can appreciate in this book.

Perfect companion to the anime for those who enjoy reading
If you're familiar with the anime "My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU," the book series is a wonderful supplement to that. The translation of this series is done pretty well, with only a few minor typos. The translator kept the spirit of the original work intact and chose some interesting ways of getting around the things that you cannot translate perfectly from Japanese to English. I've read this book now in both languages and I'm pleased with the translation. I just wish, with this series being rife with Japanese references and culture, that the publisher had stuck with the Japanese light novel page size (roughly 6" x 4"), or at least close to it, because this book is quite large (roughly 8" x 5.5"). That's just a personal preference, but still, the book's dimensions are a little oversized. The book itself starts out fairly slow, in the same manner as the anime, as it's the first volume and mainly serves to introduce the premise and characters. It's still an entertaining read, and you get a much larger dose of Hachiman's thoughts and motivations as the series is told from his first-person point-of-view. Anyone who enjoyed the anime and likes to read should pick this up.

A great new series of light novels
Better than the manga, this novel is hilarious fun. The manga has some spoilers for the novels, so I suggest you read the novels first. A colorful cast of characters, who in many cases are more extreme than your typical cast and feel fresh as a result. The dialog is the best part. Compare it to another series I love, D-Frag (manga) which also has good dialog. But most of the jokes in D-Frag are Manzai style two-man comedy. A typical Manzai joke is where one person (boke) says something that is dumb or outrageous and the second person (tsukkomi) calls them out with a witty comeback. The humor in this novel is a little more subtle and the outrageous things the characters say all have a kernel of truth in them, which makes it very funny. The representation of "outcast" in high school is very realistic. Also the thoughts of the protagonist about his outcast status are both thoughtful and funny. I'm rooting for Hachiman.

Not your normal hero
I'm writing this without bias but overall it was pretty good. The writing style compare to the Japanese or some fan made translation are pretty accurate. What I mean is that there slight difference between them but overall it stays on track with main story that the Japanese Author wanted to tell. And compared to the fan made translation this pretty much more tamed. Less profanity, the whole puns actually translated well this also included the pop culture references. Also with the selection I stated there is no real sexual content but there is a scene where some characters are changing, at most you get a undergarment shot. The series can be generic to others but this does not really follow it. The main character is at most normal but his whole personality is the most interesting.

Fun, nostalgic and a great read.
As I've read the light novel, I could see myself relate to Hachiman Hikigaya on many things. For me, high school life was alright, but fun, and Hachiman's inner monologues throughout the novel remind me of how I used to think back then; I couldn't help but feel nostalgic. The characters are quite peculiar. Aside from the cynic Hachiman, fellow Service Club member Yukino Yukinoshita is a beauty, but has a harsh, cold, and blunt personality. But despite that, she is smart and honest. And then there's Yui Yuigahama. She can be bubbly and cheerful, but lacks self-confidence and goes with the trend only because she wishes to be accepted by others. The dark humor between the trio outcasts are pretty funny, especially when you add in Japanese pop culture references in to the mix.I enjoyed this novel far more than I expected. I'm looking forward to read more of this series.

Nothing says growth like this series' protagonist
If you heard of this series due to the anime adaptation, then you're gonna love the light novels because that is where the story of Hachiman Hikigaya started. For those who never heard of My Youth Romantic Comedy SNAFU, if you like slice of life, school settings, and how a cynical, pessimistic loner being forced to learn to become social, then you'll sure to love this series. I have to say thay, i have watched the anime adaptation and fell in love with the series and the characters within. Each character has a realistic feel to them that you would be able to relate with at least one or more of the characters. In my personal opinion, i'd give this series a 10 out of 10. Please do give this series a try!

Plain and simply put: A good book.
In a genre filled with reincarnation and harem light novels, I believe that Oregairu is just simply a good book. With an enjoyable protagonist, who never ceases to entertain himself, as well as the readers. With a good down to earth story that doesn't sugarcoat nor overplay situations, and good, slow characterization. Everything in this book just comes together to make a ,quite simply, good book. If your tired of seeing the same overplayed scenarios, then try yourself with this book. It has a digital edition now (finally) so there's no excuse to give it a try.

Foundation Novel, A Must Buy🍀
As a reader first I would like to share my wonderful experience after reading this Novel. This Novel is NOT⚔️ like any other novel in the Market. It is a completely different experience and believe me you would love it.The Novel starts with the 'LONER' who is the protagonist of the story. Yes, his name is Hikigaya Hachiman!!😆. It is a novel from a loners point of view who tries to stay away from society and even in high school, he's alone. He has no friends not only because of his personality but because he insists that a person can only get hurt by being close to people. He develops this personality because of his past trauma of being rejected by the girl he thought was interested in him(he actually didn't love her) and his childhood being ignored and made fun off.Although Hikigaya tries his best to stay away from people but it cannot be helped when his Japanese teacher and career counselor Miss Hiratsuka comes in his life like a thunderstorm and disrupts his silent loner life by forcefully making him join the Service Club where Hikigaya has to help people. He is introduced to the president of the club that is Yukino Yukinoshta, who is the Ace Ice Beauty or Ice Queen of the school. From here on out she changes Hikigaya's life upside down.( Here is where all the things begin).Later Hikigaya comes to know that she has a defective personality just as much as he does but in a different way. Although he is impressed by Yukinoshta's thought process but cannot come to agree that it is right. Finally, the third character who will put a very strong impact on the upcoming novel is introduced and yes, she is none other than Yui Yuigahama. The dumb girl who finds an interest in the service club and decides to stick around. She idolise's Yukinoshta and her character development is quite inspired by her. This Volume cover the Tennis Court Finale incident and the Theatrics of a certain friend of HIKIGAYA!!!The beauty of the novel lies in the Monologues. This is a First person novel and is only shown from the view point of Hikigaya Hachiman. This Novel is very Unique in the case that all the novels present in the market whether it's SAO, Accel World or Danmachi, are all fantasy world related and is not down to earth🤔.This novel shows the reality which most people over look in life from a point of loner. Believe it or not ever person experiences lonely at a point of time in life. This novel very much gives us a strong message NEVER TO GIVE UP.Also I would like to tell that it's one of its own series and can be clearly differentiate from other anime and novels. It's an funny as well as an emotional series. This novel lays down the foundation for the upcoming series and I strongly recommend to all my review readers to atleast once buy the novel and you will get hooked up if you are the kind who finds a different perspective in life. The view from a different perspective is refreshing and quite enjoyable indeed.😄👍In the end I would like to conclude that I this series has the potential and the novel has intact more potential than the manga because Hikigaya's thoughts are given in detail at each point which we may be missing in the manga. Viewing the anime before reading is a good idea and I would recommend it to know the exact time in which he speaks between the lines but if you are the one to read first then go ahead👍.

Excellent book, poor condition.
Book was not in excellent condition as one might expect when buying new with folded pages and marks on the cover. The book itself though, is excellent.
