Got this solely for the sake of passing a vehicle inspection for my 99 TJ. For all you curious jeepers out there, most of websites will say it only fits JK models. Fits my TJ rear wheel well frame area just fine. Very sturdy construction and I trust it to not fall off while I'm driving with them on. Mount can be attached to your frame in whatever position you like with 2 of the provided 4 bolts per mount. I chose to only use 2 in order to avoid drilling unnecessary extra holes. Hacksaw or a cutoff wheel will be very handy for the extra length on the flap hangers. if your jeep stands extra wide the flap hanger bars should be more than long enough to cover your tires. Easy to install and can be done in less than an hour.

Front wheel application requires modifications
I purchased the Aries 119000 12” x 18” Universal Removable Mud Flaps in December 2016. I finally got around to installing them on my 2016 Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited this week of January 2017. The purpose was to install theses behind the front wheels because I get so much crap (snow and mud) thrown on the doors and rear fender flairs. The stuff gets sprayed clear up onto the windows.I ran into a problem. The Rubicon frame by the front wheels has an angle that makes installation almost impossible. Also because I have 37” tires, there is not much room for installation and interfering with the tire travel.I found a location that worked after all. This location will require some modifications of the flap to the extension bar. Just under the front body frame bolt was a good place to install the bracket hanger. Having it there gives use of at least 3 of the 4 bolts. (See photos). That location keeps the bracket perpendicular to the frame.Next I mounted the rubber flap to the removable bar 4 inches above the bar. I quickly learned that the bolts that came with the kit are way too wimpy. Don’t use those. (The reason for the 4 rating).I went to Home Depot and purchased ¼ inch bolts. For each side you need 2 that are 2 inches long and 1 that is 2 ½ inches long for each side. Washers are a good idea. You will need also a ¼ rod-coupling nut for each side. I found I needed to cut it down from the 1-inch length to about 5/8 inches.Next you need aluminum strap 1” wide. This will be bent to allow extension to the flap to tuck into the fender flair inside covers. It also gives a third support bolt to the rubber flap. (Please see photos for visual description). You will need to calculate how much angle you want but don’t make it too steep. The ¼ coupling rod separates and supports the mud flap away from the bar at that location.Cut the extension channel to size so it doesn’t stick out from the flap and reinstall the plastic plug. Before inserting the plug, paint the end that was cut so it doesn’t rust. When slipping the mud flaps into the bracket, tuck the upper edge behind the flair inside cover. Attach the quick release pin and the 12mm bolt as acting set screw. If needed. I discovered you can only apply the bolt to the driver side. On the passenger side the welded nut is at the top just under the body frame bolt and washer making it impossible to use.Eureka! No more spraying of junk onto the sides of the Jeep. Remember to take flaps off while 4-wheeling or the setup will be torn off and you get to purchase and install them all over again.

Sturdy,well built, highly recommended
I did a lot of research before selecting this set. The brackets are extremely sturdy and the square tubes are equally sturdy. I am very happy with the quality of these mud flaps and would recommend them to anyone looking for a heavy duty set. They were easy to install, but I did buy my own nuts and bolts. This came with a self threading bolt set that didn't look very sturdy to me. It did not include nuts and bolts that you could use to secure it to the frame. I bought these because they were heavy duty and would have expected a bit heavier mounting plan included, but another $5 for grade 8 hardware and I have an installation I am proud of.

Good product, not so good hardware
I sheared off two of their bolts even after drilling the holes the exact size they recommend. Turned into a real issue during installation for me. The bolts were too hard to drill out, even with 4X bits. Lots of swear words.Otherwise, the quality is really nice. Just be careful turning in the self tapping bolts!

I hate the look of mud flaps so I installed these
used these to pass inspection on my jeep in utah. I hate the look of mud flaps so I installed these, got it inspected and popped them right off. It's good quality stuff and very easy to put on and off. I have a 97 tj and had to drill one hole in my frame to hold it on. It has four slots but honestly one bolt hold this bracket on great. It's not budging at all and I didn't want to drill too much into my frame. Very easy install for the average person.

Not tough enough
THEY FELL OFF.....I had these on for less than three months and the rubber ripped/ broke and the flaps fell right out. Welded to my jeep too, now I just have the arm. Would not recommend buying.I loved the way they looked too.

Only somewhat universal
For what they are, they are nice and well made. That said, I tried to put them on my Ford Excursion and there was no way I could mount them on the frame. Are they universal? Well, kinda. If you have a straight shot to your frame, they will work for you. If not, you've only got about 2" of drop from the mount before you're stretching it and they may not fit. Just take a good look at your vehicle beforehand. In my case, going with the screw on one-size fits most was a better bet.

Not a good choice for Jeep Wrangler
These are listed as a fit for my 2015 Jeep Wrangler JK. I do not recommend them for this application. The support arms are 22" long as manufactured. I had to cut the support arms down to 13" to approximately center the mud flap behind the tires and keep them from projecting beyond the factory Jeep fenders . This also required shortening the support bracket female sockets (larger square tubing) from 4" to 1.5" long, drilling new bolt holes, and rewelding the nuts onto the brackets. So now I have only 38% of the originally designed support. As a result, not sure if these are going to last. They do bolt into the existing threaded holes in the Jeep frame.Other than that, quality is good except the small mud flap mounting hardware could be better.Would have returned these, but I had already tossed the box and packing before I realized the issues.

Read before buying
Amazing quality of rubber and hardware, however it does not fit with stock bumper, notch’s will have to be cut out of bumper for them to work, otherwise a good buy!
