Gear MP600 Multi-Plier Multitool – Made in USA – Blunt Nose, Black

I’ve been using this tool four years now. I find myself using it for things I’d otherwise use a specific tool for. I’ve used it to cut/strip wire, open boxes, paint cans, as a vise, file/saw wood, handling hot metals, handling/carrying propane tanks via the pliers, etc etc. The main blade is sharper and sturdier than I expected it to be. The teeth of the plier are all intact—with a good bite to them. When I first bought it I didn’t expect it to hold up to rigors I’d put it through. It’s exceeded my expectations. Easily it’s the most used tool that I own, at work or and at home.

My first pair of regular size multi-tool and I love it. You should add on the screw driver bits kit and it becomes a great multi-tool. Upon first opening there is a black coating on the multi-tool so that needs to be cleaned off otherwise it is going to get all over your hands. Flicked open out of the box without a problem but I did apply some great to the railing and knife did not come sharp and had really bad burrs. While using the screw drivers while the pliers locked in and applying force, the pliers do stick out a bit and dig into your hand so gloves should be advised. I have applied a lot of force when using it closed as a screw driver and while the two pieces will flex a good amount. I never felt like it was going to give way and snap. Also note it did not bent or go out of shape, still lined up good. Haven't tried the wire cutters with any heavy gauge wire so can't comment on their durability. Good file on any soft material and the blunt nose performs as great as I thought it would.

This is a great quality multitool. I use it for work, EDC at home, and goes in my bug out back as well. The blunt nose really does add gripping power, and the oxide finish is tough. I've put a lot of tourque on the screwdrivers and they held up well. Only cons I have: the carbide cutters seem like they would break cutting anything but stranded wire. The cheap leathermans can cut about anything. I also don't like how the cutters pass each other like scissors. Blade on blade like a pair of stakons would be better. My second gripe, is the plastic lock release buttons are a little disappointing. It seems these could break easily if dropped, which would make the tool almost useless. Overall I got what I paid for, and its definitely worth it. 5 stars for what it is.

I bought one of these in the needle nose configuration from snap-on, the price was much higher, I purchased this one in blunt nose for my backpack, I used a mag pouch attached by molle to store it. These pliers are great, they have a #2 Phillips head screwdriver, where most of the multi tools ive used had a #1 which doesn't come in handy as often, the carbide stripper/cutter is a nice touch and can be switched between 3 sides if you manage to wear out the other sides. I like the one handed operation and it makes for convenience when I use the one I carry daily at work. I really have no complaints at all, the price was good and the product is great quality. Would buy again in a moment if I needed to, although I see this lasting for a long time.

It's a gerber, so you know it's a quality tool. I use and abuse mine, I mean I ABUSE this thing and it takes everything I can give it. When I bought it the flick open design was a little stiff, so I polished it up with scotch brite and now it flicks open effortlessly. I prefer this design as opposed to the leatherman's "butterfly" design, which can be tricky to open singlehandedly. I like the carbide cutter inserts as opposed to the non-replaceable style, however the carbide is brittle by nature and prone to cracking and breaking. Yes, you have to turn or replace the cutters from time to time, but at least you're not stuck with cutters that are messed up with no way to fix them. I reccomend getting a new set of cutters NOW, so you have them when needed. The straight knife blade seems to be made of high quality steel as it holds an edge VERY well. I'm also very impressed with the file, I've used it significantly and it doesn't seem to wear out. I wish gerber offered this knife to civilians in a true needlenose style, as the true needlenose style with replaceable triangle cutters is only offered to military personnel and public servants. As someone who uses this knife every day at work, on the farm, and occasionally around the house I reccomend it. Like I said, it's a Gerber!

I bought this tool as an everyday go to tool , very happy with the product and definitely would buy again. The small triangle replaceable snip blades are not that great and when you cut into something strong they just crack. I recommend buying milling replacements because they hold up so much better than the factory ones. Tcmw-2-1.5-1 high speed steel indexable insert for metal lathe.

Bought for husband as he had lost his. Same one as he had lost but black, he is delighted and he has found the one he lost. He says he could not do without it as it is such a strong little tool to have. Brilliant.

Wow. Solidly built and slick look. I've had one of these for over a decade in regular steel. The black is the same solid tool with amazing fit and finish. Great price compared the Leatherman with similar features. Have always loved the regular pliers. Much more commonly useful than needle nose.
