The bag says the pearl sugar is beet sugar crystals compressed to form larger pieces. No mention of any other ingredient or procedure.

I bought mine 6 months ago and the exp. date is 1/6/2021

I believe this is a 1.5 pound bag that's 24 oz so it would equal approximately 2 cups of salt.
