Lifesaver and sanitysaver
I bought this item on Ikea's website, not through Amazon. Ikea's shipping cost runs a little high, but if you are ordering other items it's cheaper in the long run. This item runs around $40 on Ikea's website, you have to buy the mounting hardware separately, which is around $10.But now to review the actual item.We love it. It is extremely sturdy, made from a thick canvas type material. Excellent quality. It was purchased for our autistic son with strong sensory needs.. He promptly bit a hole in the cushion! The cushion is actually of great quality. Very thick material.. son dearest just has very sharp teeth. However, in the end it worked out better for us, as we now have a beanbag in it and it makes it SO much better for him. He sinks into the bean bag and it surrounds him. Sensory wise, that's a great addition. I really recommend doing that, to other families with ASD or SPD kiddos. He loves to spin in it, winding himself up in it, until it looks like a Hersey's kiss *laugh* He also likes to swing back and forth in it, his legs hanging out so he can use his tippytoes to run to gain speed. Siblings have learned to get out of the way, or he will bowl them right over. And yet it has been extremely durable with the amount of abuse it gets. The only problem is washing it.. Our is pretty dirty, and the only way to get it down will be to disassemble the rope contraption. Ofcourse, that's a GOOD thing, you don't want a swing to come falling down. The surface can be wiped down just fine, we've had it for about a year and a half, so I am talking built up dirt around the opening from dirty little boy hands grabbing it several times a day over a looong period of time.I highly recommend this product!

Purchased for Child With Sensory Needs
Purchased based on recommendation from OT.Pros: Sturdy heavy nylon canvas material. Great price. Even though it is cheaper via I-K-E-A, gas would have cost us more to drive and get it.Cons: Ours came with the inflatable cushion which both the children hated no matter how much or little we inflated it. We ended up inserting a Euro Square sized firm pillow to make the seated portion softer.Modifications: Kids are required to wear bike helmets when we swing them as we installed this in our doorway via two carabiners on the red "hooks" of the top of the swing rope (not seen in photo), and attached them to rings on the Indoor Playground Support Bar. We stand next to the swing at all times and grasp the swing at the halfway point when swinging. This way we have control over the motion. To compensate for the door height, we eliminated the circular ring by "knotting" the rope through the loop at the top of the swing and adjusted the points at which the rope threads through the red hooks since the swing is too long if you follow the directions exactly. This took quite a bit of time to ensure the perfect height - not too high so our child could get in, but not too low so the bottom of the swing doesn't hit the floor when sitting. The carabiners we purchased support 200 pounds and allow us to easily attach and remove the swing whenever we want.

Great swing!
I REALLY like this swing, but there are a couple things that should be noted when buying this. First, the inflatable element in the bottom needs some kind of a revision. I ended up ditching it, and replacing it with two square floor pillows and my two girls (3 & 4.5) like that MUCH better. Also, the two ceiling hangers are misleading. First, it doesn't come with bolts, so you have to buy your own (which is fine!) but also, it has four holes in each hanger.... in order to hang this from the ceiling, you are going to HAVE to hit a beam for both hangers. Which means you really only need two holes in each hanger. So four bolts total. If you just screw this up anywhere, its going to rip out of the ceiling. BUT, when you can get this properly secured, it's a great swing. My autistic daughter (3 years old) LOVES to just sit in it and chill, which says a lot! It gets a LOT of use. One of my kids is always in it. And it's big enough that they can take the iPad in there to play while they swing. After looking through therapy books at all the swings that go for some serious money, this one is definitely worth it, and still the cheapest one available. My daughters OT was thrilled to see we got this for her.

My kids love this, especially my special needs daughter
My middle child has Sensory Processing Disorder and was recently diagnosed with ASD. Her OT recommended this and it's the best thing we have ever bought for our kids. We have 3 kids ages 5 and under, and they can all fit in this! It's a tight squeeze but we make it work. We don't use the inflatable "pillow" that came with it as it takes up so much room and it's not very comfy. I put a down pillow in there and it is just right. I didn't use the ceiling brackets that came with it; instead, I found a pull-up bar that holds up to 220 lbs (which the swing claims to be able to support) and installed the bar in the doorway, attached the swing, and voila. The fabric has a large loop at the end to be placed through a bar, which works perfect for us as we didn't have a ceiling place or beam to install the brackets. The doorway works perfect for us. I don't know if it's machine washable or not, as we just installed it, it hasn't gotten dirty, one spot of yogurt came off after vigorous scrubbing with a wipe so I don't think it will be very stain-resistent. My kids love it and ask to be swung every day. It is very calming for them. Highly recommend!
