It gets stuck in stupid places but does the job
Overall, I know I can forget about cleaning the ground floor. I have solid flooring throughout but note that it sometimes struggles to get over the thresholds. I set it to clean at night - so I have to remember to close the bedroom door, as it can wake me up, but it means that I can resolve any problems when I get up. There are relatively few, now. It's been running for 6 months and is pretty solid, now. I do wonder if it is afraid of the dark, at times, as it seems to be too afraid to go into areas where there's no light! The improved results over the past few months, could be down to brighter mornings! It does get stuck in stupid places - I have a curved bottom step of my stairs and that has caused all sorts of problems, but it seems to cope well now.Overall, I am pleased with this, but I make sure the floor is clear beforehand. Having no children most certainly helps - a small price to pay. Maintenance is easy. Connection can be a right pain, but somehow it seems to get sorted. Unlike other reviews, it does know where 'home' is and goes back - though the path it takes isn't what I would always regard as optimal.

We Love You, Scooby Doo !
The media could not be loaded. I'll start by saying, "Life changing". We have hard floors throughout the downstairs and, whilst the house isn't big and we don't have dogs or cats, there were always lots of "bits" to get stuck into feet and transported around the house. Even with lock-down and extended working from home, there was no way that daily manual vacuuming was going to happy, so I went for this guy.Set up was simple ... similar to any home automation thing (connect directly to the device, configure it for your Wi-Fi, create an account (in this case, on Neato), connect it to Google Home (sorry ... swear word ... your assistant). As part of this, I decided "personification" was a good idea, so called him Scooby Doo (sometimes fun if my G.. assistant mishears us and starts to play Scooby Doo episodes ... win win, I'd say).So ... how does he get on ? Will he replace the Dyson (other brands are available) ? How fast is he ?He gets on really well ... a great "background clean" every time he comes out, and the sofa he lives under (previously famous for dust bunnies) is spotless. Yes, he misses the odd bit here and there, makes a few wrong decisions ("You could easily just back out of that, Scooby Doo !") and attacks the doormats now and then, but the results are so good there are not bits on the bottom of your feet, and no spread of these heading upstairs.I would say (quietly, so he doesn't hear) that he wouldn't replace a full vacuum, as he doesn't move anything to sweep under it, spot cobwebs, or suddenly make you think of a full-on spring clean, but coming out once or twice a day at no extra effort from me has reduced full vacuums cleans of downstairs ten fold (at least).Speed - according to the map, we have about 21sqm to clean (by the time he's navigated around things, etc.), and this takes him about 21-25 minutes. Some of my friends commented that this was "slow", but I can never really tell, as I'm getting on with something else (work, shower, cleaning upstairs whilst he does downstairs, just having a coffee and watching him work, etc.). To the untrained eye, he might look a bit "random", but he does edges first, then fills in the gaps. There are 4 areas out our ground floor, so that sees him heading into all 4 twice (edges, then middle). I'm sure he mixes things up a bit too, to keep it fresh.Wobbles - I've had to turn him off and on again once in nearly two months, and he got a little confused when a storage box was out of place and very close to him starting. He spotted it during "Checking my surroundings" and thought he'd moved house (but was fine again once it got moved back). He prompts for bin empties and roller cleans, etc., and the Neato "How to" support is great for this.Obviously, I can't compare him to a round robot, but I did choose him for the D-Shape and wide brush, etc., and I cannot complain. Can't praise him enough ... and of course, a great talking point to friends and colleagues !

Essential Labrador owner kit.
I named my Neato D6 Nigel. He is the best rather large sum of money I have ever spent. I love Nigel!I set him weekday mornings to wake up at 7.20 when the dog is out for a walk and I'm in bed or on my way to work. He takes about 25 mins to vacuum all of our kitchen diner where Finn our Black Lab sheds his hair, and most of the home life takes place. He takes himself back to recharge under the sofa and no one would know he's there.Occasionally he has been set the task of the other rooms downstairs but daily is not necessary like the dog inhabited area. I empty him everyday often pausing him in order to just relieve him of his full tummy. If not he does have the tendency to obstruct and occasionally will vomit and not properly digest his food. He did once choke on a very light towel that had been left on the floor. As with children it is essential that dangerous objects that may be ingested are not left lying around. Apart from that he is very easily maintained and simple to control with an app. It's good to see what he's been up to and make sure the job has been thorough and he's earned his keep. He's become a vital and much loved member of our family and probably my favourite!

Ok but not brilliant
We have named this one Alfred, he was going to go straight back due to his loud noise but he redeemed himself with the suction power and his ability to map out the floor plan which I wanted so it stopped him falling down the stairs. He isn’t so good going up and down rugs so ok on carpets only. The battery life isn’t as good as my Coredy and it’s not as thin. I got this in the sale so comparing this with my considerable cheaper Coredy I would probably still go back to the Coredy; value for money. The Coredy works brilliantly on all floors and has a mop function too. I would recommend buying this as an entry any day. Only keep Alfred because he is doing an ok job upstairs 😊

Would I buy it again?
It's a good cleaner, don't get me wrong but I prefer the Roomba. The Neato is bulkier and doesn't dock as neat. It also has a tendency to mount the hearth and knock bits over and lamp bases and get stuck but never had an issue with the Roomba. I wouldn't be comfortable leaving it on and going out due to it getting stuck. I think it's the D shape that causes the issue. It does a good job

Great robot vacuum! Worth the extra in the price.
Easy setup, great app and gets into corners that other don’tThe app is really helpful by detailing a floor plan which you can then define no go zone(s). Most you have to have a physical component (usually provided with the robot).Notifications to empty are also extremely useful.
