An exceedingly tricky time adding the Globe Electric smart bulb to my smart home network.
I am having an exceedingly tricky time adding the Globe Electric smart bulb. I believe myself to be tech-savvy. Heck, in 1987 (probably before whoever is reading this was born), I had a BITNET email and was posing on listserves at Purdue University. Plus, I have 15-year-old, Straight-A, Texas NASA Scholar, STM award-winning, know-it-all, high school student sitting to my left playing Xbox and kibitzing from time to time. He and I have built computers together. I proudly boast on my Résumé, adding three Phillips Hue White and color ambiance Smart Bulbs to my Amazon Alexa system, just a week and a half ago. So, why on God's beautiful green creation does a Globe Smart light bulb get the best of me?~ I have downloaded your Globe Suite app to my iPhone.~ I have disabled my 5 GHz Radio, on my Gateway.~ I have confirmed my 2.4 GHz Radio, on the Gateway is running.~ I screwed in the "Globe Electric WiFi Smart 10 Watt (90W Equivalent) Multicolor Changing RGB Tunable White Dimmable Frosted LED Light Bulb, No Hub Required, Voice Activated, 2000K - 5000K, PAR38 Shape, E26 Base 50043" bulb into a light socket. (My son giggled at the phrase "screwed in").~ The light bulb, my iPhone, my router, and the kibitzing teen are all in the same room.~ I've gotten the bulb into paring mode - fast blinking.~ I followed the instructions in the app.~ "Error Try 'Switch Paring Mode'"~ I try again.~ "Error Try 'Switch Paring Mode'"~ I consult the instructions.~ I switch paring modes.~ I followed the instructions in the app.~ "Error Try 'Switch Paring Mode'"~ I get unsolicited advice from the kibitzing teen.~ He pompously tries the same steps I completed.~ "Error Try 'Switch Paring Mode'"~ He states, "I don't know" and goes back to playing Fortnight.~ I search for help on the internet.~ I watch a YouTube video of a pleasant guy pleasantly doing what I just did, all narrated by a pleasant woman's voice. WTF!~ Try all again.~ "Error Try 'Switch Paring Mode'"~ So, I asked the excellent support people at Globe, "What do I do now?"I await the soothsayers in the support department. I hope they don't just prognosticate that I should return the Globe light bulb and use the refunded money to buy more Phillips Hue bulbs. While I wanted on the support folks, it completed changed my WiFi set up, so only my phone and computer were on the network. That did it. Then I had to go through and reconnect all my Alexa devices and update the WiFi setting and passwords on a billion other devices. Now, I'm tired and going to have a tall glass of bourbon in purple light.

Overall pretty good
These are super cool, the colors are an awesome bonus on top of the Temp/Brightness controls. I also like I can group the lights and control multiple bulbs as a set. There's just a few things I wish they'd improve:1) 750 Lumens isn't that bright. Even with 3 of them on max brightness, my living room still feels a bit dark. I'd really like to see a 1000+ Lumen version.2) The lowest brightness setting still feels a bit too bright, much higher than you'd get from dimming an incandescent or some other dimmable LEDs. Need to allow for much lower dimness for theater feel. I'd this can be fixed with a firmware update, please do!3) Not sure how accurate the color temps are. Their 2700K feels a bit oranger than other 2700K warm bulbs in the room, and 5000K less bright and blue than my kitchen lights. It's not a huge difference but enough to be a little annoying that doesn't match temp of existing non-smart bulbs.4) The app is fairly easy to use but has some frustrating issues. Brightness & Temp settings can only be adjusted with slider bars, which is incredibly annoying trying to set a precise value, especially when the slider jumps as you lift your finger off the screen. They need to have the sliders tied to an input box so you can optionally manually type in a specific number value. Also wouldn't hurt to have a setting to optionally allow snap to increment steps. Similarly the color wheel selector has issues with setting precise values and needs some way to manually type in a color value.Overall 3.5 stars so far but I'm rounding up to 4 since app issues could easily be addressed in an update.

UPDATED: Glitches fixed but some filaments died in one week.
UPDATE: I’m keeping the original review below, but the option to update the firmware on each bulb was offered in the Globe app. Once updated, they stopped turning on by themselves and respond correctly to schedules and voice commands via my echo show. It’s now been 7 months since we first bought them and no other bulbs have had filaments go out like mentioned below. Must have been a dud. These turn on by themselves just a couple minutes after turning them off (whether via Globe app or Alexa command). We have to turn the wall switch off to keep the bulbs from turning on. I learned this the first night we installed them, unfortunately. They don’t turn on all at once, either. The first one turns itself on after 3-60 seconds and the other 5 (different fixtures) sprinkle on over the next 5 minutes. It’s annoying. None of the other wifi smart bulb brands we have do this, even on the same light fixture. However, it’s the only tunable white Edison smart bulb I was able to find so we’re working around the annoyance. If other brands made this, I would return them. One of the bulbs had it’s amber-white filament die today, just one week after installation. It started flickering and now won’t come on at all, not matter what I do in the app (pictured). The blue-white filaments in it are still working but I’ll be returning this one. Fingers crossed that the other 5 don’t do the same thing soon. It’s supposed to last 15 years at 3 hours a day. We’ll see.

Compatible with Tuya Smart Life
Globe recommends using the Globe app to control this bulb. The app definitively works, but the Tuya Smartlife app also works with this bulb. For me, this is great because it means that I can control this bulb using the same app as I use for all my other smart bulbs. The setup takes about two minutes. The bulb has a nice glass casing, which contains the four filaments inside. There are two cool white filaments and two warm white filaments, adjusting the color temperature adjust the brightness of each group of filament. When the bulb is set to maximum warmth (2000K), the cool white filaments are completely off. I think the bulb looks pretty good. It works well and it can be controlled by Alexa (on/off, color temperature and brightness).

Edit: 2 light bulbs randomly flickering.
EDIT: Lights flash all the time and have to reset. It's very annoying and happens about once a week and sometimes more. Since they're all on the same line and won't connect i have to put the bulbs in one at a time but now that is even not working. Huge disappointment. I bought 10 of these bulbs 4 constantly do this. The others do it sometimes. I have other bulbs from this company of a different make and they don't do this. It's brutal. These light bulbs are so so beautiful in my kitchen. I got them for my ceiling fan in my kitchen. I can leave the fan on and just tell my google home to change the brightness, hue as well as turning them off and on. The photos I added are the lowest and highest of the warm hue and the lowest and highest brightness for thr cool hue. They're even nicer in person. I am going to get 4 more later on for my bathroom vanity because one you have dimmable smart bulbs you want them everywhere. I am light sensitive so it's nice to be able to change the brightness but still be able to see. Super awesome.

A SMART Edison Bulb Indeed!
This Edison style smart LED bulb is great! It looks good, works perfectly with my Google Home products, and all the features (color temp change, and dimming) work exactly as I expected it to. The setup was quick and easy. The color change is a bit interesting as it has 4 LED ‘filaments’ 2 of which are more to the white side (5000k) and the other 2 are more yellow (2000k) so when tuning the color it will brighten the filaments of that color and dim the other 2, never seen it done that way before, but hey, it works! At $28 (at time of purchase) this was the best option that met all my criteria, I wanted a smart Google Home compatible, WiFi, LED, dimmable, Edison bulb and this was a great option! I recommend it to all those interested!

Works well, easy to set up
works as advertised, nothing else needed other than a wifi connection and this lightbulb and your phone. Took off one star because the app allows for a function where once your phone location shows arriving within a certain radius of your house, the light will turn on - this function doesn't work.Other than that though, the app is great, allows you to connect and turn on multiple bulbs together, automatic on/off at a certain time or sunset etc.if the location function was fixed that would be really cool

Should've listened to the reviews..
I have a dozen of the regular globe suite bulbs in my home, and I love them! So I hoped that the reviews on the edisons were just on-offs and the issues wouldn't happen to me, but first day having them, I definitely noticed the constant noise coming from the bulbs. We installed these in our master bedroom, with hopes of easily turning off the lights without having to get up after you're cozy in bed and turn them off at the light switch across the room. Unfortunately, the reviews about the lights randomly turning on all by themselves after you use a voice command to turn them off was true. We would ask our google home to turn them off, and 2 minutes later one would turn on again. This will not work when trying to sleep. Hopefully Globe Suite finds a way to improve the edison product.
