Coleman 1000L LED Lantern with Enhanced Battery Protection, Water-Resistant, Batteries Last up to 25% Longer Than Other Lanterns

I've bought this lantern as well as LE Lantern, which is rated at 1000 lumen as well, for my camping trip. After using both lanterns for a week, I like this one much better than LE. First of all, I like warmer light it produces, it looks more natural. It doesn't blind as much if you look directly at the lantern in complete darkness of a camping site - probably because of better light dissipation with a very uniform brightness across all the surface.I really like the location of the power switch at the top of the lantern. It is very easy to find even in complete darkness and turn the lantern on. Also, the rotary design of the power switch makes it very easy to set desired brightness/mode. It is better than regular power buttons.Having batteries completely disconnected while the lantern is turned off makes it perfect for storage till the next summer. For example, for LE lantern, I had to cut out a cardboard insert to disconnect batteries from the lantern and prevent draining the batteries over time.And, last of all, I like the build quality and look of the lantern. Also, it has a perfect size - not too small, and not too large. I highly recommend this lantern.

Smaller than you think, but still bright enough.

The packaging was horrible. The boxes were inside a plastic bag. When they arrived, one of them had pieces lose inside the bag. thank goodness nothing was broken and I was able to put the pieces back where they belonged with no issues. They work just fine and I love how easy they are to use. I wanted a pair that used only regular batteries because you can always have spare batteries around if you lose power. You can't charge the others if you are without power for an extended period. They seem well constructed, after all, they survived being shipped in nothing more than a plastic bag. I like the size and the different brightness settings. I would recommend.

READ THIS BEFORE PUTTING IN BATTERIES!This is a great lantern if you get it correctly. I had the same problem everyone seems to have with the lid not opening once you put in the batteries. After major struggle pulling out the lid, I found out why it had gotten stuck in the first place.The middle part sticking out from the lid that goes in the middle hole between the batteries has a tear drop shape. YOU HAVE TO ALIGN THE SHAPE when putting on the lid. If you don't align it and just stick the lid in, it will go in but you will have a hell of a time getting it out. If it's aligned you won't have a problem at all.If you get the lid part correct it's a great lantern. I like that it has multiple light settings and that the brightest setting is bright but doesn't blind you.Seems very sturdy too, because I had to yank the lid open with the help of a couple screw drivers when it first got stuck and it didn't break haha.

This lantern is amazing. Provides a lot of light and is especially perfect when power is lost. We have two in our home.

It's definitely a little cheaper made than they used to be but it will hold up just fine, I like the different light levels on it. We bought this just in case of a power outage and in that case it will be perfect for us.

We needed this lantern for whenever the power goes off. This lantern is not too bulky but gives off a very strong light - just what we needed! Yes, the bottom is a bit difficult to take on and off for battery placement - but if you are careful and put the disc back on with the notch fitting into the lantern in the correct way, there is no problem - just be careful and aware of placement.
