Q: is anyone else having problems with the top hanger sliding down the extension top piece? the hanger will NOT stay up even when tightened all the way!

I didn’t used to have this problem. I’ve been using this Swagman bike rack gizmo since July of 2017, and never had it slide down. Now, I can’t get it to not. I ride my road bike more, so I had the MTB on top and the road bike on the low end, but the MTB kept sliding down. I switched their spots on the pole, but keeps sliding. I’m going to give Kevin G.’s idea a try. I’ve do have the spare tubes lying around to give it a shot.

Q: My garage ceiling has a slope. Will this work in that application? Or does the ceiling have to be flat?

The pads that grip the floor and ceiling are on pivots so they can adapt to a sloped surface. You will need to watch though that the top pad that grips the ceiling doesn't slip out. I guess it depends on how steep of a pitch your ceiling is.

Q: Would this work with a false ceiling?

Yes and no. If by false ceiling you are referring to a drop ceiling with the tiles it could work but you would need to remove a tile and use the above joist to mount against. I would recommend finding something very solid for the top to come in contact with because you have to screw the top up until it is tight and sturdy. Hope this helps. I love mine and them bought a second for my kids bikes. :)

Q: Is anyone else having trouble screwing the top or bottom onto the pole? One end works and the other doesn't. I've tried swtiching them too.

One end is right hand threaded (counter clockwise=loosen). The other is left hand threaded (clockwise=loosen). This design is clever is it allows you to rotate the central grip to adjust height precisely
