Also know as Teflon® tape, it's a slippery, non-adhesive tape that is used to seal and lubricate threaded pipe connections. It creates a watertight seal by filling in the gaps between the threads and preventing leaks. The tape itself doesn't stick to the threads or the pipe, and it's super thin and stretchy to ensure a good seal is made. But there are more uses than just for plumbing related tasks. Teflon® tape provides lubrication and creates a tight seal when the connection is screwed together. For this reason Teflon® tape has many uses, but the key is that it's for threaded applications. It also comes in different widths so there a tape for every job out there. I actually purchased this for my trampoline. The vertical bars are 2-pieces and connected via a threaded screw. Over the years, the pilot holes have widened and now my screws that hold the two bars together freely rotate. Since I can't shrink the size of the pilot holes, the only thing I can do is widen the screws. Problem is, I only need it widened every so slightly. This plumbers tape did the job! Price of new upper pole: $35, price of Teflon® tape: 98¢... it's a no brainer. Bottom line, plumbers tape can be used to tighten any fitting. Loose toilet seat? Thread the screws with this tape for a better fit. Leaky garden hose? Loose washing machine hoses? Leaky faucets, shower heads, well, you get the picture... Note: this is not to replace the need for fixing plumbing issues. If you have a major plumbing concern, by all means seek the help of a professional. The uses I mentioned above are for minor issues, small repairs that you can do yourself with little to no education about plumbing. These issues naturally occur over time via wear and tear. Remember, a water leak is usually a sign that something needs to be replaced. Faucets have a system of gaskets and valves that will eventually need replacing over time (I recently replaced the water valve of my shower faucet.) The use of this type of tape is complementary to proper functioning water systems, not as a means of repair.

Works great and does the job no complaints. Easy to put on whatever you need I used this for my shower head when I installed a new one. Durable as far as I can tell.

Likewise, I replaced my old showerhead with this filter model after moving and found it works nicely for pipes. It’s a simple upgrade that makes a noticeable difference during daily showers. Happy I made the switch for better water quality.

We only needed a tiny bit for the hot and cold water hookups for a new faucet. I have no way of knowing if it made a difference, but we tested all the plumbing quite a bit and weren’t able to find any leaks. I read (and watched) a lot of advice before installing the new faucet, and using plumbers tape for those threaded metal connections was regularly recommended. I appreciated being able to find such a small quantity at a low price, especially here on Amazon with free shipping. The tape was a little wider than the threaded parts, but it was very easy to stretch it to the right size. And despite not sticking to my fingers at all, it stuck to the threads and to itself. It feels slightly thicker than cheap packing tape, but thinner than electrical tape. It seems like the appropriate thickness for its use… thick enough to facilitate a better seal, but not too thick to have it get pushed out as you tighten the nut. The only instructions were to apply it clockwise (righty tighty). This seems like a trusted brand. I’d definitely recommend it for DIYers who would never use a full roll in their lifetime.
