Bought as a replacement of the original blade. Original oxidized so bade that picking it up made your hands dirty with gray dust. Unusable for mixing at that point. Hope this coated one will last. Initially had to scrape a little paint off of hole edge to get it to fit onto mixer. But seems to work fine now.

My original dough hook had been washed in the dishwasher and was shedding aluminum. These days I've replaced all of my aluminum cooking and baking equipment with stainless steelThe dough hook performs well for its designed purpose. People who are complaining about the dough walking up the hook or not reaching the bottom don't know what they are doing. These complaints are silly. They are technique issues not product shortcomings.

Just made a couple of loaves with my new dough hook. I make heavy sourdough artisan rye bread; it worked well. My preliminary comparison to the pigtail attachment is that dough seems to want to climb up the corkscrew but stays deeper in the bowl with the hook. I haven't noticed any difference in the final product [at least not yet!]The hook seems to rinse off easily. Doubt if I'll need to put it into the dishwasher, but seems like it would not be a problem for the white coating. (The bare-metal pigtail has "no diswasher" warnings, but it also rinses off easily.)

This dough hook did not work on our KitchenAid Artisan mixer. The hook was hitting the bottom of the bowl and knocked the coating off of the hook. It caused a gear to be stripped, so the mixer was no longer working. Seeing as this was my deceased mother's mixer, both myself and my daughter were devastated. Unfortunately, we didn't use the hook for the first time until AFTER the closing date for the return to Amazon. Not only were we out the $25 for the hook, we had to pay extra for a worm gear replacement. Fortunately, by watching a video, my husband was able to repair it. Needless to say, it is not a dough hook that works.

This dough hook has some kind of design flaw and if you have a lot of dough, it comes up out of the bowl on medium speed when you are kneading the dough.

These coated attachments are much better than the metal ones, but they still aren't perfect. The coating never seems to last as long as it should.

This bread hook is not the standard size, it is too tall! I assumed it would fit my mixer and didn't need to use it until it was too late to return :(. Very sad, the quality is fine but it is definitely not going to fit most regular mixers!

I like how the coating on this hook helps to keep the dough from creeping up the hook. However, I think the spiral dough hook works a little better. I notice that this dough hook just ends up going around my dough rather than through it while it is kneading after a few minutes. I think next time I will see if they have a coated spiral hook. The coating really does make clean-up easy.
