Get the most for your money
I bought the MS score board because I wanted to make my own wedding invitations. I had been making cards for a few months before purchasing it, and I was simply using my ruler to score cards before that. After getting used to it, I simply can't do without it. The perfect crease it creates is no match to folding and scoring manually. Why not the scor-pal? A lot of you might want an answer to this question. The scor-pal is another widely using scoring board in the papercrafting industry. People who use the scor-pal claim that the grooves in the scor-pal are deeper, therefore the scoring is much more easier. I do not own the scor-pal, so I can't compare them both. But as far as my experience with the MS score board goes, I love it. I find the depth of the grooves to be adequate for my needs (and for the price). The bone folder that comes along with it is a bit sharp so be careful while using it on copy papers. It is the only bone folder I have, and I am quite happy with it. It does leave a shiny edge on cardstock when you are scoring it, and some people find it a bit of a annoyance, and use teflon bone folders, which cost around $20. That's too much money for just avoiding a shiny edge, so I'll pass on that.I score all my cards on my scoreboard. But that is not what I most appreciate about it. I like making miniatures out of cardstock. I made a small Christmas village last year, and it wouldn't have been possible without the scoring board. I downloaded templates, printed them out, and scored all corners using the scoreboard. The project was a success, and the process was a breeze :) So if you are into papercrafts more than cardmaking this is one tool you will find a lot of use for. So, if you are a card-maker(not a scrapbooker) the mini scoring board is the one you should be looking for. It's small and handy, and does the same scoring as the scoreboard. Since you are making only cards, the dimensions should be just enough. The Envelope maker comes in handy when I want to make customized envelopes. But, I don't use this feature as much as I thought I would do.The little compartment on the top is very handy. I store my bone folder, my black felt tip pen, white uniball signo, glue pen, pencil and my eraser in it.The scoreboard is also sturdy enough. I've dropped it a couple of times from my desk, and no damage was done.I've been using the score board for 2 years now, and I have no complaints. I 100% recommend it for papercrafters.

this will be great for origami!
Just got this today and in a few min had my first envelope! super easy to use. you do have to be careful and pay attention to what your doing though because, as other reviewers have commented, its fairly easy to 'jump track' and score the next groove over. (of course if I had it setting on a flat surface I probably wouldn't have had that issue lol)I used a sheet of printer paper to make my first envelope and found that using the same light pressure I would use with a pencil and running the folder over the groove a couple times worked well to get the score lines. (the bone folder does NOT have to make contact with the bottom of the groove to score the paper which might be why some ppl have issues with it tearing the paper.)The board itself is pretty rigid and has foam feet to help keep it from sliding. The packaging stated it had an 'improved' bone folder which feels pretty sturdy to me so it appears MS has addressed that issue. (I may even sand the edges of the tip a little so it doesn't have as snug a fit)Some reviewers indicated the instructions were a little too simple, leaving them to figure steps out on their own so maybe the instructions improved too since I didn't have that issue. The instruction pamphlet with diagrams only covered a few projects: an A2 card, an A2 gate fold card, an envelope for an A2 dimensional card, and a 4x4x2" box with lid. (It gives you the general idea that you then apply to the measurements they give for the additional sizes for the card, envelope and box/lid.) The envelope guide gives you the measurements for the following sizes: #1, 4 bar, A2, A6, A7, A9, 6" square, and #10 and states that you should decrease the length and width of the starting paper by an 1/8th inch to make envelopes for flat cards. Since some of the cards I make have dimensional embellishments I thought this a nice detail. The instructions adhered to the inside of the 'tool compartment' gives the measurements for cards (which coincide with the envelope sizes) and the following box/lid sizes: 2x2x2, 3x3x2, 4x4x2, 4x4x4, 5x5x3.5, 6x6x3, and 7x7x2.5. I agree with other reviewers that these instructions shouldn't have been adhered to the inside of the compartment since the writing is so small. (I may type up the measurements and use my xyron sticker maker to adhere them to the top of the lid for easier reference.) Of course you can use youtube to get additional ideas on how to use it - I watched one that showed how to make accordion folded medallions.Given the little issues, I would honestly score it a 4.75 but since that wasn't an option I rounded it up. My paper folding leaves a little to be desired so I think this will be a very handy tool, especially since I do origami.

This scoring board is the perfect addition to my craft assortment
This scoring board is the perfect addition to my craft assortment. It was a no brainer on which score board to buy since this one was marked down to a very reasonable price, and basically does the same thing as the other popular brand. This one even comes with the envelope guide; the other popular scoreboard requires you buy it as an extra accessory if you want one. This score board does everything I require. I'm new to making homemade cards and was folding them freehand, then using the paper cutter to cut them straight. This score board has solved that problem, and it's easy to use to make the straight scores and then fold on the score with the 'new improved' bone folder that came with it. I like the compartment that holds the bone folder and any other small items you may use. It came UPS yesterday and last night I folded enough card stock to make 5 different sized cards - perfect scores every time. I read complaints about the bone folder it used to come with; on the packaging this one states the bone folder is new and improved. This plastic bone folder feels very heavy duty and works marvelous. I also saw a couple reviews that stated the board feels flimsy. Oh my goodness, what are they comparing it to? The board feels and looks very well made, and I'm sure it will last as long as I need one. Now I'm off to score more cards. Thank you Martha! It's a great score board and I am more than pleased with it.

It's the perfect tool for scoring cardstock and envelopes with precision accuracy!
It's made my life so much easier - I can now score, fold, and envelope paper in a fraction of the time it used to take me. The build quality of the tool is excellent, it's easy to use, and very sturdy. The board is sturdy and the tool is sharp, which makes scoring paper and cardstock a breeze. I also love that it comes with an envelope template so I don't have to waste time measuring out envelopes.

Parfaite

Excellent
Perfect! I wanted a scoring board for making boxes easily and had been looking at this for a while before purchasing it. As I am fairly new to card making I needed some essential pieces of kit. The initial outlay is quite pricey so was taking care to pick items I would get the most use from. I have a paper trimmer that has a scoring blade but found it a bit tricky to use. There are a few scoring boards out there but this one stuck out especially as it had an adapter for making envelopes and came with a bone folder come scoring tool that lives in a small compartment at the top of the board. The measurements are in inches and the groves are an with of an inch appart, giving you a great choice of options.I found the envelope adapter a bit tricky to use at first but once I made a couple found it a bit easier, although some of the recommended sizes came out larger or smaller than I expected. The board is nice and sturdy and of good quality. It's a bit expensive but well worth it as I have made loads of boxes, cards and envelopes with it and have many more ideas for more.

Wonderful
The board does what it is meant for- amazingly. Worth the cost. The bone folder, as mentions in some reviews, is not sharp enough to tear pages i.e. is improved. But it may tear thin sheets if not used softly. The key is to go slowly and with a light hand. And on thick sheets too- instead of making a hard stroke, make several smoother strokes and it works great. The bone folder makes two lines. At first I was confused on which line to use to fold. But with a few tries- one can make out which line to fold upon. That isn't a problem at all.It is nice it has compartment to keep the bone folder. It is big enough and you can store pencils and many embossing tools in it. The envelop tool fits snugly in its place and doesn't fall if we hold the board vertically.Dimension guidelines for card, boxes and envelopes are available in 3 languages. In short, this is worth its price and a must-have tool for all craft-lovers.
