What material is this made of? Is it water/rust resistant?

I don't know but I would not take a chance. I use them to make rosaries to sell and always tell my customers to keep them out of water.

Does this crucifix tarnish?

No it doesn't, I am sure if you were to wear it swimming, showering, bathing on a regular basis it might eventually. But they are made very well. They are really for rosaries but could be used for a necklace.

Used in Rosary making

I make rosaries and other stone jewelry. It's not easy to find a proportionate size rosary cross to go with 8 and 10mm beads. At least not affordable AND quality crucifixes. These crucifixes are beautiful. I normally work with Sterling Silver and Pewter for my rosaries, but for a class to teach little girls how to make rosaries, I chose these. They have "the right amount" of shine, do not look cheap, have a nice weight and the size it very nice. Fantastic crusafix

I purchased these crucifixes so that I could make my daughter a rosary for First Holy Communion. These crucifixes are beautiful and well worth the price. They are heavy and very detailed.
