If you are someone who is tired of looking at complicated features on the new TVs like local dimming, quantum dot, HDR, Smart Apps, Voice Assistant integration, yad yad... and still not convinced it will be any different from another offering, all the while not entirely sure if it really matters when you switch it on in your living room and watch it... then you are looking for something unique and Philips Ambilight can address some of your needs.For a 65inch 4k TV, it's not the cheapest out there (I got it at 80k). However, it really stands out as Ambilight is patented by Philips and isn't available on models priced twice as much.It really is a very simple idea to put a bunch of LEDs at the back of the TV which responds to the light on the front of the TV panel near the edges. Think of the light at the edges bleeding out of the screen on to your wall. But the effect is truly genius! It feels like you are watching a projector or in a move theator.But a big part of the effect is the ambience in your living room too. If you have a TV cabin and you stick this TV there, then there is no value. The best setup is no setup, just plain wall behind.Also for those who are thinking of or already have smart lighting for your home with Phillips Hue, this will be an awesome add on. The light from TV literally travels to your nearby smart bulb!So is it just Ambilight and nothing else?Well coming from Philips, I believe a certain quality can be expected and the picture quality is good for the needs of a family room. The current model is 2018 and manufactured in 2019, so you are a couple of years back in terms of whatever has happened in advances since then.. But really you may not need all of that anyway.. Atleast thats how I see it.But don't get me wrong, if Ambilight is not your thing and feel (yeah some do) that it's a distraction, you can always turn it off or adjust the intensity etc.I value differentiation when I pay a lot of money for my purchases... I guess many do so too... All I had was the size, picture quality, brand reliability to decide... Which you can manage to get with LG, Samsung, Sony... But in the end Ambilight stood out for me to make the call.Decide what works for you best.. But take a look at this in person if possible or many videos on YouTube of people who have installed it before making that expensive call to buy you next TV.

The product was delivered on 24-Mar-2021. Found the TV started developing some dark blue lines horizontally within a week. Made the complaint right away to Clarity Services Philips Service Centre, Adyar, Chennai, but the inspector came only on May 12th after facing some lockdown restrictions. Upon inspection, they immediately accepted to replace the unit as this is a clear case of a manufacturing defect. We thought the replacement would be done on a priority basis only to find ourselves following up with them for several months with just a simple "no-stock" update from their end. They even gave us the contact details of some Tamil Nadu Service Manager who goes by the name "Senthil Kumaran" to escalate this issue, but unfortunately, that end went of absolutely no use in helping us to date.The waiting got intense and we tried pushing them further and they finally got back to us on 30-Jul with an option of replacing the unit with another older 70-inch model (70PUT6774/94) as an alternative. Although we bought this model for the lovely Ambilight feature, the older 70-inch model didn't have that and we made up our minds to go with it. Then came a few big surprises... They wanted us to deliver the defective unit to their service station to get the replacement. Yes, you read that right! Since we waited for so long and we have no proper TV in our house, we didn't "mind" making our way over there and coming back to complete this ordeal. We got the replacement back home finally and when we tried to unbox the unit, we were greeted with the discovery that the supplied accessories like the stand, remote, and the owner's manual were all missing! The TV unit itself didn't look brand-new and we found the HDMI ports to have scratches around it. It is a USED product! We are now carrying this unit back to the service station to get them physical proof since they claim that Philips has never done this kind of disservice ever.Well, we might be an official first for them and we hope Philips responds back on a positive note. We'd also wish to give a special "no-thanks" to Amazon for providing us only this simple but very, very effective suggestion - "Kindly contact the manufacturer!".

The media could not be loaded. I would buy another ambilight TV!Forget the shortcomings of 'no bluetooth, no android'. If you want all that, go buy a regular smart TV. This is ambilight y'all, and that's why you buy it. I wish Philips releases new Ambilight versions in India again.I use the TV for netflix, youtube, and prime. If I want other smart apps, and if they are not in the 'saphi OS store' (Saphi is the OS that comes with this TV), I'd rather buy a smart set top box.Ambilight brings me smiles when I watch wildlife documentaries. A proud effing owner of ambilight, bought in feb, it's ben six months, TV is impeccable.Every guest in your house would envy having regular non-ambilight TVs in their house after they see the ambilight experience.check out the video on the review, and see for yourself.Where can I buy another ambilight TV? Contrary to my earlier review , I find that one is able to connect one's laptop to the TV through Miracast.Picture quality is very good.Also Amazon did not agree for returning the item. Amazon return policy suffered here.Nonavailability of above features were not clearly mentioned.Also , Amazon should have clearly mentioned "No Return " for this product in their return policy.
