We bought this decoration to put in a new tank for a fish that was sick, and after a few weeks I started wondering if the paint was chipping off (like other reviewers had mentioned) or if maybe the castle had always looked so worn and weathered. When I started noticing colorful flakes on the sponge filter, I took the castle out as a precaution. During a water change a few days later, I put some fresh water in a bucket and let the castle soak in there for a bit. When I pulled it out, there were paint flakes in the bucket and after handling the castle I realized there were paint flakes on my fingers. The sick fish had been going through a few rounds of antibiotics, and after I removed the castle from her tank, she started perking up and swimming around and eating again. Maybe she would have gotten better no matter what, but the timing sure is coincidental that she improved right after we took the decoration out of her tank. So don't risk the health of your fish tank (just in case!) and don't waste your money on something that will start falling apart so quickly.

Eh. It is what it is, I wouldnt buy it again. It's not as special as it looked. I wish I saved my $11.99 and spent a little more on a more significant piece for my 10 gallon tank. This is tiny and gets lost in my tank. I couldnt imagine it in something bigger. I was hoping it would at least serve as a ring for my fishies to swim through but it's just so small. Pass on this and get something better.

Bottom line: don't get this product, the paint will start to come off and it may harm your fish.I got this castle for my betta fish about 6 weeks ago. I read reviews that said there were problems with the paint leeching an oily substance and/or paint flakes into the water in the first few days, so I put it in a bucket for about 24hrs to check because most of the reviews said that it happened almost immediately. It was fine in the bucket, but when I went to do a 20% water change and rinse off my fake plants this week (about 6 weeks after I bought the castle), I noticed that there was paint missing on the roof area of the castle. My fish has been lethargic all week, which I had attributed to the brown algae problem I'm currently battling. Now, I'm very worried that the paint may be toxic to fish.

Very beautiful! The only reason for less stars is because it’s only a couple months old and the paint has been gradually peeling in my tank since I got it & makes me scared for the safety of my pet fish.

While the castle is super cute and the right size, after some time under the water, the paint begins to flake off.

It was the perfect size for my 10 gallon tank, but it looks awful now after having it for about 1 year since a lot of the paint has come off. I would not recommend buying it.

Nice decoration for the price and it fit well in our 3 gallon tank. The paint isn't perfect and the holes, although small are big enough for a small betta to hide out and swim through.

The product was exactly as described and it was a good size, however there was human or animal hair all over it. Like the paint was covering the hair. I haven't put it in my fish tank yet but when I do I will be boiling it 1st
