GENUINE Frigidaire 134792700 Heater

I purchased the it to replace the heating element in my Electrolux dryer. The dryer was showing an error code E64, and after replacing the heater, the error code went away immediately. I’ve been using the dryer for about a month now, and so far it has been working like new. The installation was also easier than I expected. I replaced the heater from the back of the dryer, which saved me from having to disassemble the front. The official installation method may involve opening up the front of the dryer, but in my experience, that was unnecessary for this replacement. The part appears to be a genuine OEM replacement and fit properly without any issues. So far, I’m very pleased with the performance and the quality of the part. I’ll continue to monitor it over time, but after a month of regular use, everything is working great.

Update: First unit lasted a little more than a year. Replaced it again with the same OEM part. 6 months before the error message comes back. Order new sensors because I am thinking there is no way the coils burned out this fast. Pull the unit - coils are a mess: broken, nearly black, hanging and slightly touching the surround and reacting with that. Ordered a generic heating element and used the OEM sensors. We shall see. It’s an easy part swap, but getting my stacked unit into a work area and back in place is like building the pyramids. Original: Wife thought I was crazy, but a few hours later the dryer went back into the cabinet with a new heating element and seems to be running great months later. Hopefully this one will last longer than the original (about 7 years). Also took the opportunity to clean the heck out of the dryer. How do coins even make it out of the spin bin?

Great price, easy shipping, and it initially worked well. Unfortunately it stopped working almost exactly 2 months after I installed this heater. When I replaced it, I cleaned out my dryer fan and intake, dryer vent, and changed the exhaust air hose. Thus, airflow was not an issue. However, I started to receive the E64 code about halfway through drying cycles. Eventually it stopped heating all together. I took everything apart and used a multimeter to check the control unit and then the heater before I removed it. Control board was fine, the the multimeter showed two broken circuits and the third was touching the housing. Upon removal, these problems were confirmed. I'm now waiting for the delivery of another heater unit, and I'm unfortunately out of the return window.

I am a penny pincher, and my Frigidaire dryer started giving me error messages about 2 years ago. I looked up some videos on youtube and decided to service it myself with a cheap aftermarket heating element. It only lasted about 6 months, so I replaced it with another cheap one (different brand, and same thing, lasted about 6-8 months, then same happened a third time, but the third one only lasted about 4 months. I was getting so sick of doing these repairs because it's a real hassle. I was about to give up and buy a whole new stacked washer/dryer set, but the drastic increase in prices for laundry appliances since I bought my set 10 years ago threw me into sticker shock. I decided to give it one more go with the genuine OEM part. Well, I'm coming up on a year now, and this OEM part is hanging in there. Knock on wood. Has outlived the cheap generic ones, and I hope it continues to do so. By the way, we have been using the dryer on "low" heat setting ever since the first heating element I replaced, so we are not putting a ton of wear and tear on them. I feel like we're kind of babying the things. Anyway, I recommend getting this OEM part because it seems to be made to last a lot longer than the ones that are in the $20-$40 range.

This was the 2nd heating element I bought for my rental property's front loading Frigidaire dryer. Last time we bought an off brand element & it broke in 2 years so I figured it'd be better to buy the brand's product.

Update: After the original post I just had to replace the heating element that my review was written about. This most recent one lasted from December 2017 through September 2019. I'm very satisfied as our laundry usage has not changed (12 to 20 loads a week). I ordered the new one on Friday, it arrived on Sunday and I installed it on Monday. Looking forward to it lasting another year and a half. ORIGINAL POST: I bought this unit (134792700) for my Frigidaire Affinity Dryer back in Oct 2016. It lasted until Dec 2017. We run 12 to 20 loads of laundry a week. 2 adults and 4 kids in our home. Overall I am pleased with the units performance. The installation was straight forward and took about an hour with a screw driver and a pair of channel lock pliers. BTW there are a lot of screws to remove so you may want to consider using a cordless drill or screw driver if you're proficient with such tools. Don't use these if you're not. I found some useful videos on YouTube that helped with the installation. Sometime over last summer I found a cheaper priced unit on a competitors auction site. It was 1/3 the price I paid here for this unit. Under $30. So I bought it fo the "next" time the unit wore out. Fast forward to the week before Christmas. Error code E64...again. The unit wore out. No fear here. I slapped in the spare under $30 unit and saved Christmas Vacation. Got all our laundry done and packed right on time before we left. Fast forward to January. We get home from our trip, unpack and start laundry. We had ran less than 15 loads through the dryer total before and after our trip and up comes the code again. Upon removing the unit I found that the coils in the cheap unit had stretched and were shorting out on each other (see the pictures. You'll see the coils all bundled and inter twined). The unit I replace after 14 months looked much better as the coils were still acceptably aligned. Its problem was one of the coils had worn out and broke (it'll be the picture of the coils a little squirrelly, but still aligned and not touching). Now I am buying the same unit I purchased back in 2016 and will not buy cheaper inferiority items.

Electrolux EiMED55ii(W0) compatible. Before calling a repair man for a probably $400 repair bill, I decided to use YouTube tutorials and disassemble the dryer myself. We had Error Code 64 so I knew what it was narrowed down to by using the electrical breakout type paper that was stuffed inside the dryer behind the computer console. If you get Error 63, you will have to do all the same procedure here, but likely replace fuse instead of heater element. When I got to the heater element I used a basic multimeter to test for "continuity" on all the fuses and terminals. They were all fine so when I detached the lines from the heater element and lifted it up pieces of the coils fells out. The coils were all burnt out. This item replaced it perfectly and we are back in action. Do use a shop vac to suck the dryer vent from outside and inside dryer hose to get all the piled lint out while you are doing all this maintenance.

Why can’t they just make a sturdy heater? My guess is planned obsolescence. This lasted 1 year. After replacing two after market brands, I decided to spend more and get a “genuine part”, hoping it would last much longer. My first, original heater lasted 8 years. My vent was never clogged, and we clean the filter after each use. So the only difference is the quality of heater. The other two replacements lasted 10 months and 6 months. Basically it’s a crapshoot. I will admit that the vent hast to go about 10 feet and has 2 turns. But again, that Original heater still lasted 8 years with the same vent set up. I know my vent set up is not ideal, so you might have better luck. Oh, and yes, I tested (and later replaced) the thermal high limit cut off and the thermostat. Still a relatively easy diy project. It’s just that you’ll be spending more money to keep your dryer instead of shelling out for a new one. They design everything to break down these days. Our old Kenmore lasted 20 years.

I'm an accountant and I was able to install this item myself. The item works great and happy that I didn't burn my house down from a chinese knockoff replacement piece. Saved a bunch of money.

This OEM part is living up to its promise so far. We installed it over a month ago and so far so great. Had to search YouTube and google to find how to install it. It is not an easy install but definitely possible, just be prepared with additional patience. Took about 45 minutes to installl on our Frigidaire Affinity steam dryer.

Shipping was very fast, and it works great! Identical to original part. EDIT: It is now September 22, 2021 and the heating element has failed. So it only lasted 4.5 years. Element wire is broke, the case looks burnt and twisted, and the porcelain insulators are brittle and cracking.

Part Worked great, and fit great. I'm only giving it 4 stars however, because I believe the plate that runs down the centre which holds the heating elements in place, should be made of a thicker gage steel. After researching a little online, this seems to be a common failure. This plate seems to get hot, warp and break, causing the heating element to short out when it touches the plate. I was disappointed to find that this was not addressed in the new replacement parts. My dryer is only about 3 years old and this part should last longer!
