Great monitor!
Baby video monitors are an investment so making the right choice is important. I did a lot of research and reading of reviews. I finally decided on the Summer Infant Baby Touch Boost Digital Color Video Monitor. Mostly I can’t believe I waited until my DD was 16 months to get a video monitor as it has brought me invaluable peace of mind. She’s a light sleeper so for fear of waking her I would not go in and check on her as much as I’d like…problem solved with the video monitor. After one week of use I can report that: The pan/tilt & zoom features are awesome. She’s a mover so it really helps. The picture quality is not as clear as hoped but I have nothing to compare it to. I’ll take other reviewers word that its one of the best picture quality you can get. The screen size is great. The buttons are easily accessible for late night fumbling. The little plastic stand is lame but it does the job. Only real complaint so far is that the battery life is not anywhere near 8 hours as claimed…more like 3. Which isn’t a huge deal but I will probably ask for a battery replacement. It lets me know the battery is dying by making a beeping noise which I appreciate. I would rather it wake me up to plug it in than to have to wait as it charges up before I can view DD.My top three choices before choosing Summer Infant Baby Touch was the Motorola MBP36 and the WiFi Baby 2.0. Because of lag time and rebooting I decided that the WiFi Baby wasn’t going to work… Although convenient to have only one device, as I have my phone on me all the time, I chose reliability. Motorola almost won out but ultimately after reading all the pros and cons I decided to go with Summer Infant because so many people were unhappy with Motorola’s customer service…or lack there of. It seems these devices can’t be perfect (what technology is, right?) so at least if something goes wrong I will be able to deal with a responsible company. So there you go, hope this helps! I really appreciate reading everyone’s reviews so I hope this helps someone in return.

Disappointed
David's wife here...This monitor/camera combo was a big disappointment to us. I'll list the pros and cons. Pros first. 1) the monitor shows the volume level on the side so you can have the monitor on mute and still tell if the baby is crying or not. That is a great feature we rely on a lot 2) the monitor says the temp of the room the baby is in (where the camera is set up) which is nice because sometimes our daughter's room gets colder than the rest of the house. 3) the camera can move just by touching the monitor screen so if the baby scoots down in the crib you can change the angle of the camera to see her better. Now Cons. 1) the touch screen is super sensitive. If the monitor is on, there really isn't a place to hold it without moving the camera or hitting a button 2) there are a ton of buttons along the top and sides of the monitor so you have to be super careful when grabbing or moving it 3) it doesn't have a clock on it...why not? You show the temp but not the time? weird and annoying 4) the stand to set up the monitor is slippery so it falls really easily and it's loud when it falls down, happens all the time, especially when trying to not touch the wrong button or not move the camera angle accidentally. 5) the video doesn't always turn on. Sometimes I hit the on button and it just doesn't come on. No idea why. I have to try 2 or 3 times sometimes. And every once in a while, it's glitchy and distorted so I have to turn it off and on again. 6) sometimes, when the video does come on, it stays on. Other times it turns off after about 20 seconds. Not sure why/how it does that. 7) It runs out of power pretty quickly if not plugged in, although it does come with about 10 feet of cord so you can probably reach an outlet no matter where you are. All in all - we wouldn't buy this again or recommend it to anyone. Especially for the cost!

Works Well in Room with 2 Little Ones
We are very glad to have bought a camera that can pan the room, as we have a newborn getting ready to room with our toddler. The pan function works very well and the battery life of the parent monitor lasts longer than we expected (video shuts off automatically to conserve battery, you just need to turn it back on but you can still hear sounds). Some negatives...the thermostat is a few degrees off, but we have it mounted up high (and hot air rises), so that may be the reason. We have the camera wall mounted, which distorts the picture when you pan left and right. (To overcome that, we simply turn the parent monitor 90 degrees in either direction, not a big deal.) You don't have this issue if you mount the camera on a shelf/dresser. The view is somewhat distorted at night, as good as the night vision technology is. We can see the baby crib just fine, but when we pan to the toddler, we can see shapes and movement rather than individual objects. In light, the camera is perfect HD. The last thing is the parent voice control to "soothe baby." This scared my toddler (images of "Wizard of Oz" pop into my mind), so we will not be using this function.Overall, we are very happy we purchased this camera. It is essential in a room with two small children.

Connection problems
The video quality is decent but the sound pickup is pretty bad. It has no motion activated screen wakeup like most other do.The BIGGEST problem with it is that at least twice a day it will lose its connection with the camera and takes anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes to reconnect. Huge pain....
