After all this time, FINALLY!
I've waited nearly 20 years or from whenever these first came out - LOL! - to get a Downy ball. I finally got TWO! I LOVE them! They work as promised and, although I've only had them for a couple of months, I foresee them lasting a while. The best part is that if/when the first one wears out, I have a back up to keep me going! I've actually refrained from using liquid fabric softener BECAUSE I didn't have one of these AND because I never had a washer with a fabric softener dispenser - I know, I know, dark ages, right? Nah, just frugal and simple. :)I totally recommend these little life and laundry savers! This two pack is a heck of a deal and I can say, barring any unforeseen manufacturing errors, you won't regret this purchase! It really is a "gift" that keeps on giving!

It Seems To Work As Advertised
I am using this to dispense vinegar in the rinse cycle because my washing machine does not have a dispenser built in to do this automatically. At the end of cycle, the Downey Ball top is open and empty, so I am assuming it is working as described.

It works.. sometimes.
In theory, this would be a great help in my daily laundry. I purchased it specifically for use when washing my cloth diapers. I did not fill it with Downy fabric softener, but with my homemade fabric softener mixture. Most of the time it would pop open like expected, but I’d always find it partially full at the end of the rinse cycle. It could be because I didn’t use the correct softener.. but this package came with two balls, one of which I gave to my mother to use at her house. She used the proper softener and followed the directions exactly and still had the same results as me.

Was excited now disappointed
I was very excited to find these on line as we moved to a house with a washer that locks and doesn’t hold softener. I used these in the past and loved them. But I am highly disappointed in these. The design has been changed - the way the ‘plunger/plug’ fits is a different design. As a result, I have not had one empty completely. And twice now I have had clothes with blue Downy all over them when they come out of the washer - needing to be washed again. It was a two pack. I thought maybe one was flawed so tried the other. Same result. I am done with these and going back to strictly Bounce dryer sheets again. Disappointed!

No fabric dispenser? Problem solved.
Our new washer doesn't have the fabric dispenser, and trying to time the rinse cycle isn't plausible. Problem solved. The only issue is the liquid doesn't always completely empty from the ball. So just be careful when removing it from the washer, or you may have to run another rinse cycle. We also use the Lysol laundry sanitizer, so this serves a dual purpose.

Perfect!
I love these Downy Dispenser balls! I just purchased a new washing machine and it doesn't have the fabric softener dispenser like my previous washer had... these dispenser balls are perfect for my laundry needs! So thankful this is an option! I highly recommend this product if you don't want to wait for the rinse cycle to add your fabric softener! I just add my liquid fabric softener into the ball, pull the ring to close the top and throw it into the machine and push wash... the ball opens up during the spin cycle, just before the rinse cycle begins. Genius!

Expensive and hard to use.
There were two in this package. The first one broke the very first time. When I pulled the handle to lock the top in place it came right out. The second one is working, however there was still some downy in the bottom of the container. The only reason I purchased this item from Amazon was my disability. Otherwise I would have bought one much cheaper at a local store.

serves its purpose.
Our favorite laundromat burned down. (Yes, I'm being serious) the only other in the area has machines that have not been serviced since I was in diapers. I'm 32! The washers in our apartment building work ok. But the dryers need at least 2 cycles at $1.50 each. This little guy makes it so we don't have to dry all of our laundry! I've had no issues with the fabric softener not coming out or anything like that. It works great. I did end up discovering that they are cheaper at a local store though.

Often leave clothes stained with fabric softener
It seems like a great idea but in practice it doesn't work. The Downy Ball has two problems. The first and most important is that because of its shape it never empties completely in the spin cycle. There is always a fair amount of fabric softener left in the bottom of the ball. This wouldn't be an issue at all except that when the cycle ends, the ball has to go somewhere, and that "somewhere" is into the bottom of the washer. About a third of the time it falls with the opening facing down, which then dumps the remaining fabric softener on some piece of clothing. Since the cycle is over, the piece of clothing is then stained with fabric softener and has to be tossed in with the next load in order to clean it.The second is that the construction of the closure / weight that makes the ball work is not exactly top notch (no surprise). Of the four balls I bought, one of the broke when I tried to close it for the first time, separating the closure from the weight and making it useless. My primary complaint is that in many loads I end up with fabric softener stained clothes, sheets, and towels and I have to rewash them. I'm looking for another solution, and these are going in the trash. Too bad... they seemed like a good idea.

High priced
They work pretty good. I’m not sure why these are so expensive, in the USA they are around $2 each, not sure why to get them in Canada costs so much.

No need to catch the rinse cycle
If you don’t have the option to add liquid softener to your washer than this is for you. Fill the ball add it at the start of the cycle and you have fabric softener in your load!!!
