Whether it's worth the extra cost, I can't really say. All I know is that it is really comfortable and easily adjustable while viewing.

I could say yes, but this chair was never meant for general sitting. The intent was to provide some relief to astronomers using their equipment. It will never be as stable as a chair made for the household. There are many better alternatives, in my opinion.
