This uses 3 AAA batteries or can be hooked up to phone/power pack. It does not have a rechargeable battery in it. That being said, I use a lot of rechargeable batteries in my home. So the AAA batteries I use are rechargeable. You may find the clip on unit a little clunky for Mass Market paperbacks but it has worked fine for me. I love the dual lights. I actually think it's quite quirky looking, almost like an insect. But the lights work well and you can move them in any direction you like. These were also a little less expensive than other ones that I was looking at. Only paid @ $10 for these. Overall very satisfied and pleased.

Three light settings are perfect. Grip is strong. Perfect for my needs.

For the unit I received, by default only 2 of the LEDs would light up per light with a initial single button press. I was able to find a "LuminoLite" PDF instruction manual that was a bit easier to read (larger text) and, once I discovered the short/long button presses necessary to light all 10 LEDs to max intensity I was a happy camper. At max intensity, the text in my 5.5x8in book was easily readable at about a 10pt. font. Using max intensity, the cylindrical batteries didn't last very long so I used the included cable to connect the light to a 12k mAh power brick which lets me read for hours and hours without any diminished light intensity. The lights are on flexible stems so you can position them in a bazillion different ways. I've been using mine for a couple of weeks now and I like that I can read anywhere I want now, regardless of ambient lighting.

This is a terrific light. I bought Two: one for my husband to use on his music stand, and one for my bedside table and reading. Each light has 3 brightness levels. It’s a bright white/blue light, not daylight. Necks are very flexible. Base clip seems very secure. Very pleased with these lights.

Seems to be decent quality, and the brightness and color temperature options are nice. However, my community band practices in a fairly dark room, and this light does not keep up with others even on the brightest settings. And the batteries only get about 4 hours of burn time at full tilt. Wish I’d chosen one of the other options I see used in my group. They are pretty much all better choices than this one.

So, like many working-class slob musicians, I'm always struggling to see my lyrics and other notes in dark clubs or coffee houses. I bought two of these lamps, and they work great for the need! You can adjust the brightness and angle so you don't get reflections in the middle of your lyrics (esp. if you're using page protectors; I use matte-finish ones). Like many, I've mostly taken to using a tablet clamped to my mic stand, but at some gigs I need the good old-fashioned paper method, and this gets it done. Also....I use a drum machine and a Bose mixer that don't have back-lit LCD's, and these work great for that, too (it's why I got two). I can't comment on the battery life yet, as I'm just now getting into using them, but since they can be re-charged or plugged in on the fly, I'm not too concerned. Conductors and concert band/orchestra players reading sheet music? Don't even think about it....buy this! :-)
