Game-Changer for Anyone Who Takes Lawn Care Seriously
I bought the Darwin’s Grip G7 for my string trimmer, and I’m honestly kicking myself for not getting this years ago. The difference it makes in control, comfort, and overall results is unbelievable. I originally picked it up because my doctor told me to avoid heavy lifting after a blackout episode. But I’m me — I’m going to keep my lawn well‑tended. This grip let me do that without tearing up my back or pushing my limits. Here’s what stood out immediately: Zero back strain. The ergonomics are spot-on. I didn’t have to hunch, twist, or fight the trimmer. I actually stopped using the shoulder strap because it wasn’t needed anymore. Insane control. Edging is faster, trimming is cleaner, and the cuts look like a small mower made them. The precision is on another level. Huge time saver. What normally takes me an hour or more took 20 minutes. That alone makes this worth it. Lower RPM needed. I didn’t have to run the trimmer wide open. That means: Less fuel burned Less line eaten up by obstacles Less vibration and fatigue It will pay for itself. Between fuel savings, line savings, and the reduced strain on my body, this thing is going to earn its keep fast. If you care about your lawn, your time, or your back, the Darwin’s Grip G7 Pro is absolutely worth it. This is one of those rare tools that actually delivers more than it promises. Now we talk about installation. At first it was clear how to do it, but once I started it went together just fine and was easy. They give you the tool, the lock tight, and the friction tape. Mine came with a small roll of line as well. Installation took about 15 minutes. The install video is not on their website at least the QR code would not show it, and mine might be the newest model as they have made different version based on my search on youtube. Once installed, I stood up. and adjusted the trimmer like the instructions told me too, as a base line. They do say that tweaks will be required for you preference. Once I started using it, I made a few adjustments and off I went. 20 Minutes later, I was done. I mean I have 3 acres, and I was able to go it trimmed in 20 minutes and only three bumps of line. 1 tank of gas (normally two to three) and at least one reload of trimmer string. I cannot recommend this helper enough. NO BACK AND SHOULDER PAIN!!!!!!

Works well for taller people using string trimmers
OVERVIEW: I'm 6'1" tall, and I use a Stihl FS91R trimmer. Prior to purchasing the "Darwin's Grip" handle, I had moved the D-handle all the way up, right next to the strap holder (after I'd cut away and discarded the plastic hand grip thing that came with 91R). Still, I found myself bending over more than I wished. So I went in search of a solution, and I found the "Darwin's Grip." I do a fair bit of string trimming per week: 10+ hours every week on a hilly, rock-strewn property in West Virginia. SUMMARY: after about six hours of mowing with the Darwin's Grip, I find it is definitely what it advertises to be: a way to remain standing more upright as I use the trimmer. It is definitely a positive addition to my FS91R. I rate this a 5-star product. INSTALLATION: not that challenging. I heeded the advice to avoid over-tightening the hex bolts. I snugged them down, but I did not crank hard on the bolts. It wasn't necessary: snugged down is all that's needed to hold the thing in place. POSITIONING: as others have noted, this will take some fiddling with to get it right for your preferences. For example, the pictures showed the handle on top of the trimmer shaft, at the "12 o'clock" position relative to shaft as you hold the trimmer. I found it more comfortable on my left arm (I'm right handed: I trigger with right and use my left on the handle) to rotate the whole assembly to the left so the handle is at about the 10:30 or 11 o'clock position. Just that little bit helped quite a bit. Expect the initial install to be an approximation, with fine-tuning of position to follow. Also, some "muscle memory" my need to be re-learned to use the new handle naturally. For me that took about an hour. QUALITY/WEIGHT: the whole assembly is very light weight, and I don't notice any difference with my FS91R (14lb machine) with this installed. It seems fairly sturdy, but I would not jerk on the handle, nor push down on it hard. With just normal pressures to control the trimmer this should be just fine. As others have noted, the weak spot in this is the toothed-swivel that allows adjustment of the handle up/down from the trimmer shaft. Again, normal pressures and it'll be fine; aggressive jerking, or pushing down hard would be a problem. VALUE FOR MONEY: the item is $70+ with tax, and at first blush that seems high. But in my early testing of this I've discovered two things: (1) my back is no longer fatigued; and (2) because my back is no longer fatigued, I take fewer pauses, which means my mowing gets done more quickly. Preliminary estimates has the time savings in the 20% to 30% range. So, for me, the $70+ expenses is forgotten, and now I'm enjoying the benefits.

You can’t go wrong with the original Trimmer extension.
Seriously, I read a few of these reviews and I just have to laugh and say that YOURE NOT DOING IT RIGHT! This is the year 2026 and where prices stablized after the inflation is what it is and the way it will always be. From now on, the rest of your life and will only get worse and worse as time passes. Thank Washington and the decades of stupidity and spending is why this item is above $60. Anyway, I have always used these. They are solid and lock positivity in place. Since all rubber and thin polys becomes more pliable over time (hence why you replace belts and hoses on your car) expect the grip to slip off. I would recommend a few drops of JB weld inside the grip if it becomes more of an issue. I promise you it will never happen again if you allow it to fully cure. So the quality. Fantastic. Fit and Function- outstanding. Does everything you can expect from Darwin Grips. Watch the video for the best installation tips. If used properly, your arms will be straight and your chest and shoulders will be squared with perfect posture. The result is less strain on your back and comfort the entire time you’re using it. No more hunching over. Yes, you can still edge as you used to using the existing factory grip. The performance part is actually cleaner jobs because the weed eater head is no at an incline and this alows a cleaner cut with out excessive balding around obstacles or scarring wooden fence posts. You absolutely have more control over the path of your trimmer. I mated mine this time (the G7) to a Stihl FS91R It’s a match made in heaven. Buy one! You will thank me . Don’t buy the Chinese junk. It is not the same.

Great product. Helps with posture.
Stating to like it. Takes a little bit to get it adjusted just right. I trim a .5 acre grave yard and tell it really helps my back. Not as sower.

Updated review! 4 ⭐️
UPDATE! Upgraded to 4 stars, my brother visited and made quick work of attaching the grip to the EGO trimmer. I used it today for about a hour, and I can see where this item has merit. So much so that I’m going to keep it. Still not 5 stars due to very hard to read and confusing instructions.. that and it is a bit overpriced imo. Thank you! Well fabricated. Unfortunately, the written instructions are unclear, although I’m a woman and not mechanically inclined, so I’m sure that’s a major part of my problem. but the real problem was after I had the device attached the I slid the handle in the slot and tried to tighten it down but it WOULD NOT tighten down to where I could even get the weed whacker picked up off the floor because the handle kept coming off. It was very awkward . The instructions say to scan to see a video but no there is no video I couldn’t find a video anywhere. I emailed them asking where the video can be found. so I’m frustrated. I waited for about two weeks for it to be delivered. I was impressed with the machining, but it justIt wouldn’t stay together long enough for me to even try to tweak anything so I’m going to be sending it back.

Saves my back from hurting
Works great! Keeps your back straight and not hurting. I feel i can move faster and cover more ground while using it. It is easy to install and use. It is built really well. It would fit and you can use on many different trimmers.

Makes heavy work, light
I shouldn't have waited so long to get this attachment. I think it reduces brush cutting effort by 50% by reducing fatigue from constantly balancing shaft distance (weight of the tool) from the cutting surface making each pass a more precision cut. It results in less passes to get a finished result. It won't cut the brush for you but certainly make the job easier. I also liked that the extension handle could be adjusted to many different positions. I'm sure another user wouldn't position the extension exactly like I have positioned mine, so having infinite adjustability is a big plus. If you have a gas power trimmer, you need this.

It works
So this attachment works for some scenarios and other scenarios not so much if you're weed eating a ditch and or steep bank you're not going to want to use this it's too high and awkward it's the best way I can explain it if you're just weed eating like normal on flatish ground it's perfect I'm 6 ft tall 200 lb and I do landscaping professionally it really is a big help less straight on your back there is a learning curve because for some reason you still want to hold the weed eater higher than what you need to cuz it needs you to relax the arm of which you're actually using to throttle the trigger with is it worth the price honestly no they should really calm down from this price I would say catch it on sale if you can catch it on sale for around 30 bucks 40 at the max it's a really good deal I would almost say a must buy but at 60 bucks no build quality is good it's metal construction with only a few plastic components The rubber handle keeps wanting to slide off it's not hard to put it back on there The design it's okay The weight it does make your weeder heavier a kind of also throws off the balance

A good product ruined by the sellers delivery.
I have had really good advice from a professional user for this product in terms of its functionality and ergonomics. This purchase has been a huge disappointment for me as was hoping for quick delivery assuming product held in stock in Australia. No it wasn't as seller must sourced product from USA and hence long delivery time. Arrived with product having been opened at some point since manufacture meaning parts that should have come were missing. A good product ruined by the sellers delivery.
