Dried Thyme – Fresh Harvest Cooking Organic Wild Thyme Herb - 8 Ounces

This product is not the variety of thyme that you would expect if you went to the grocery store and bought thyme for cooking. The thyme typically sold in stores for cooking is Thymus vulgaris, common thyme.This product is not. It is a mixture of other varieties of thyme. There are many varieties of thyme, all with different characteristics and flavors.When I first opened the bag, the smell was quite off-putting, and smelled nothing like "thyme" as I am used to. Thyme is one of my favorite spices to cook with, and this smells and looks nothing like common thyme. After a few days of being open, its aroma mellowed, but still smelled nothing like thyme, more like a cross between oregano and marjoram, but in my opinion not attractive or appetizing in the least. I would not cook with it.I contacted the seller, and got the following response: "There are varieties of thyme ... it depends on the batch that we receive. Since all of our thyme is harvested in wild and it is not cultivated by specific type of the plant, we receive both varieties and mixed them together."To be fair, the title of the product does say "wild thyme", but in the description nowhere does it specifically indicate what this means. What it means is that if you are expecting the same variety that you would buy in a grocery store for common, everyday cooking and recipes, this is not that product - it is a completely different look, smell and taste.I'll be throwing this in the garbage. The seller does not want anything to do with a return, because technically they did deliver exactly what is described in the scant description.

Fragrance is everything. I had been getting thyme from the store and it always tasted like dirt. One whiff of this and I knew it was good.

This dried herb has a very nice fresh taste, and the size makes it a good value. I transfer small amounts of my herbs into smaller spice containers so the bulk can stay sealed. I would recommend this product for anyone who uses a lot of thyme, and would suggest using this organic herb to mix a blend of other organic Italian spices for everyday cooking. It has helped my family to improve their daily health.

Spices in the grocery store are very expensive for a small bottle. I purchase a large amount for my pantry and fill my small bottles in my cupboard cooking spice drawer. I like the price, the shipment is QUICK and the sellers are GREAT. Spices... yea' always thru Amazon.

I was always disappointed that my local Walmart only carried tiny jars of thyme. I use it a lot in spaghetti sauce and like to make a bunch at a time to can or freeze. Nice quality, good flavor. Perfect for those that like to cook a lot!

I am not sure I even received thyme. It looks and smells like oregano. I wonder if the staff filled the bag? I sent an email to the company but got no response. Oh well.
