Medication Dispenser with Low Frequency Alarm

My mother suffers from Alzheimer's and has been living independently for a while in a CCRC. Before buying this product, we were using the 7-day pill sleeves. They worked for a few years but as her disease progressed, she was forgetting her meds more and more often. So we decided to give this a try. She takes morning and evening meds so we set up the tray with meds alternating between morning pills and evening pills. Then set up the dispenser to open up at 10:00a and 9:00p. For two years Mom never missed a dose. Unfortunately her disease has progressed to the point where she is now in assisted living. They administer her meds for her so we don't need this at the moment. But it was great while she was in independent living.

This medication dispenser helped me manage my elderly father's pills, and still allow me to go to work. While he was living with me, he needed pills 4 times per day, and could not use the typical pill reminder cartridges anymore due to his increasing dementia. The dispenser was fairly easy to set up, and absolutely did the trick for stopping any double dosing mistakes that are common with the elderly. I didn't give it the highest rating because two items could be improved on it. It would be helpful if the cover was transparent to allow the caregiver to see when it is almost empty. Also the trigger mechanism on the pill door could be improved. If the cover isn't seated just right, opening this pill door did not always shut off the alarm. Overall it helped me keep my dad safely and correctly taking his pills longer at home without having to bring in outside help.

This is the second type of the secure pill dispencer that I have purchased.This one , although twice the price, was more like a toy.The inner workings were poorly designed and stopped working after three days.

Works great. I can fit 2 weeks of mom's meds into this container. I bought an extra container so that I can refill at home and exchange the refilled container at mom's. Was nervous about setting it up, but followed the easy instuctions and works great.Now I know mom is taking her pills when she should.

I bought this item to help me help keep my dad at home rather than put him in a care facility. It has been fantastic! I would recommend it to anyone. As a matter of fact I bought a second one for my mother.

This newer brand with lower range on the alarm has been much easier for my mom to hear. This has been a blessing for her. Love love it!
