DOUXO Calm Shampoo (16.9 fl. oz.)

My dog has had lifelong allergies resulting in chronic itching. She has been on Apoquel which worked for awhile, but lately has become ineffective. Her itching, became so bad the last few days with severe scratching, chewing, licking and spinning around on her hind end. She was completely miserable. I ordered this shampoo and bathed her at 3:30 this afternoon, following the directions and leaving the lather on for ten minutes. I massaged her skin during that time to keep her occupied, which she enjoyed. I did not do a repeat shampoo, as was suggested on the label.It has been six hours since her bath, and she has been resting calmly and being normally active. I am so amazed that just using a shampoo could have this effect. I plan to re-bathe her every two to three days as suggested, and have purchased the Douxo Calm mousse, spray and gel to add to her treatment regimen.UPDATEIt has been three days since using this shampoo and itching has subsided significantly. I have used the Douxo Calm Spray twice when there were some itching episodes. Like I mentioned above, I also purchased the Gel and Mousse to add to her treatment regimen. Although there are clear and concise instructions labeled on each bottle, I was unsure as how to use all four products simultaneously. Thinking I had a straightforward question, I called the customer service phone number listed on the bottle.I was politely told that how I rotated the products would be the responsibility of my Veterinarian. I explained that I found these products on my own search, and they are not products that my Veterinarian uses.I figured that a company that markets over-the-counter products, could at least direct me in their application, not to mention that I had just invested over $100 in these four products. I guess that my only option is to just “wing it” or else return the two unused products for a refund. I had much more hope in what Douxo’s customer service could offer.

I have a Westie who has developed some skin problems in the past 2 years. I have been to the vet and was given a folicular shampoo for him. It does work, but bathing him often still dries him out. I have researched and found this one... I like it because it is more mild. I also took him to another vet for a second opinion, and she said that he is allergic to flea bites. She said that flea prevention is a key to reduce biting or scratching, and offered a shampoo to bathe him with when his skin gets irritated. I mentioned that I have couple of products I use myself. Was I surprised when she gave me the same product I purchased. She said that it is great to bathe him with, but pointed out that instead of washing the entire dog its better just wash the problem areas - his belly. This way it will take care of the problem where it exists, and will not dry out the god too much. I am very happy with this shampoo, and have our groomer use it during his appointments. My dog definately gets a relief after I use this shampoo on him. He smells good, and I see a difference in his skin. I use it once a week, sometimes every 4 days. Highly recommend.

I have a golden retriever puppy who loves rolling in mud. I've tried other shampoos that leaves my golden's hair coarse and skin irritated. This shampoo is amazing, leaves the coat soft and fluffy, smells much better than other shampoos I've tried and is "calming" to my puppy's sensitive skin. Pricey but worth it.

My Boston terrier is a "sensitive skin and stomach" pooch with mild allergies. Other doggie shampoos left her itching and scratching, with a dull coat. Shampoos with oatmeal worked better but still not great. Then her vet recommended DOUXO Calm Shampoo and it works like a charm! Her coat is smooth and shiny, she is not scratching after a bath anymore and seems completely comfortable, and looks and smells so clean. I've received many compliments on her beautiful coat (which I can also attribute to her salmon-based diet) so I know this is the right product for her. I'm giving it only four stars because it costs more than it should, but I wouldn't use anything else for the best dog in the whole wide world.

I first got this shampoo from my vet. It worked GREAT, it was a rescue that had not been taken care of his skin was dry and flaky and dull. I used this shampoo for a couple of weeks twice a week and what a difference. His coat came back eventually full, fluffy and shiny, everybody comments on how good his coat is. This shampoo is half the price on Amazon. I only have to give him a bathe now 1-2 times a month and he looks beautiful.

My dog's coat was very dry and she had been scratching too much. Our veterinarian recommended to change her shampoo and suggested we use this once a week, then every other week, then monthly. Her itching stopped, her coat is beautiful and shiny (she's a GSP). Thank you for an excellent product!

Our poor dog was itching all summer long. We thought that she might have fleas, even though she was wearing a Seresto collar. Called Vet only to find out upon examination that she has allergies, causing this allergic reaction. We were told to use Douxo shampoo. We bought one bottle from the Vet and along with the allergy injection she received, the itching stopped immediately. We need to bathe the dog and leave the shampoo on for 10 minutes. We are to bathe her till the snow falls. Had her groomed this week and her groomer noticed that her skin looked very healthy. A very good product.

We liked this at first. It seemed to help a bit with his itching, and his hair was beautiful and soft! But after a while we noticed he was shedding like crazy. Like shedding a whole extra dog hairy! It was so excessive I nearly called the vet, but then we realized the shampoo was the only thing we had changed. After we stopped using it the excessive shedding stopped.

This shampoo is really good I have used it before, my dog gets really itchy belly and legs in the summer. It says use twice a week to start but I use it once a week as straight away he stops itching and this seems to last for at least a week and then as soon as he starts scratching again I redo him so I end up just doing him once a week or even every other week.

This shampoo seems to be really helping my fox terrier who suffers from grass, pollen and mite allergies. We are just finishing the first bottle and have now ordered a second. She isn't rubbing along the furniture, which she has been doing for the last 18 months! She is also on Piriton twice daily and monthly injection of anti-allergy serum.
