Tekk Monster Jam Mini Hoop

I bought this based on the reviews, and I found the mini hoop to be much better than expected! I installed this (next to a swing) with hardware purchased from Home Depot; the frame is stronger than needed, and it will provide years of fun. The hoop set is well built and very sturdy. I did not like the included ball and bought the Skilz foam ball which is a much better choice for indoor play. Great set.

Our 11 yr old boy has enjoyed this mini hoop. It was advertised as durable and strong. However, it lasted about 3 months before it snapped in two pieces. Our son weighs 55lbs. It broke when he dunked. For the money we paid, it should be built strong and it should NEVER break and injure a child. The piece that came off, punctured his right arm. Apparently, there is a 1 yr warranty. You have to call the company and get an approval before shipping the damaged item back. They decide to repair or replace. Shipping cost for sending the item back and receiving the new one is paid by you. I will update on their cust service later as I am waiting for them to respond to my inquiry.

Love it. Immediately after opening the package I was impressed by the material and construction of the rim and the backboard itself. They look and feel *STURDY*. Nothing at all like the other ones I've used in the past that felt like toys, this board is probably made out of better material than some public park hoops.Assembly itself was fairly easy and straightforward. Even with my gimp thumb I was able to put everything together in about 5-10 minutes. Just make sure you have a screwdriver handy :).After everything was put together the hoop itself fit well over both of my bedroom doors. Easy to put up, easy to remove. The fit when closing the door was snug, but didn't cause any problems in the door actually closing.

Ok, I'll admit I was skeptical about this thing BUT BOY WAS I WRONG!! This thing is amazing and I'll also admit to hanging on the rim myself to see what's what, lol! I'm around 200lbs and this thing didn't budge or act as if it would break at all. Kids LOVE it and slam away in it. Yes, they have hurt their fingers on the rim a little bit but that's just part of the game itself and they have learned not to grab on so much which might just help them from getting "technical foul" in their NBA careers. Yes, I'm dreaming there about NBA, but it's fun right?Backboard is easy enough to put together and instructions are pretty good with pictures and all. If we had a area with two doors end to end I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one and have "full court" option. Buy extra balls! Foam ones are better if you don't want walls getting scuffed up. In short, kids love it and so do I! Pull the trigger and GET ONE!

My 10 year old bought this with some of his birthday money. He was super excited to get it and it worked great for a month. The backboard broke today, one day after the window to return it closed. My son weighs 60 lbs and this is supposed to be able to withstand 180 lbs. My son is so disappointed and so am I. I would not recommend this product. Bought a second time due to other reviews being good, hoping the first one breaking was a bad batch or something. Not the case as the 2nd one I purchased broke as well. Wasted $40 twice. Really disappointed

I should have listened to some of the negative reviews. The backboard broke after 3 months of use on a simple dunk (no hanging) by my 9 year old. Good luck getting customer service to do anything. I tried calling and you can only leave a message. I emailed and did get a response. They asked me to provide photos and receipt to consider warranty coverage. I provided those items immediately. I gave it a few days and then emailed to ask the status. The wonderfully smart customer service rep told me she never received my photos and receipt. Funny, the email she wrote me actually quotes the email that I sent with the photos and receipt! Not good business to lie to your customers and get caught in a lie! My guess is that I will never receive a new backboard.UPDATE: After emailing bombing the support rep. on April 8 with many emails with photos of the broken backboard, they finally admitted to receiving my photos and receipt. Keep in mind I opened the support ticket on March 25. The company did ship a replacement backboard. I am upgrading this rating to a 2 star only because they finally fulfilled their warranty after many painful, deceitful emails. Still the product should not have broken and they are falsely overstating the durability of this hoop.

If you have boys that are tough on mini hoops and you want it to last, this is the product for you. We have owned this hoop for about a month and are glad that we spent the extra money on it. I have 4 boys and when they dunk the ball they don't always let go of the hoop right away. You can tell right away that this hoop was purposely made to be played with hard. This is an extremely sturdy hoop and feels like an "authentic" basketball hoop....just a smaller size. The breakaway spring is very strong and the backboard gives you confidence that it's not going to break.Another reason we bought this hoop is that it is 1 inch larger that 95% of other mini hoops. It is the largest mini hoop I could find after hours of research "with" the breakaway spring that includes a backboard.If you are serious about your mini hoop I would highly recommend this product to you. You won't be disappointed.
