Interesting book
Good book but the better , more detailed and informative book , is by Gordon Own, Ph.D. I know because my family has lived in the area since before the Gadsen Purchase

This Book Has A Variety Of Picture Scenes From the Past Of Las Cruces.
Until 1881, Las Cruces was smaller than Mesilla. Las Cruces later went on to become the second largest city of New Mexico. The book shows various pictures of Main Street in Las Cruces during various time frames. There is picture of The Popular Dry Goods Store in the 1930s which remained opened until the later 1990s. There is also a picture of Ballards' Camera and Supply Store in the 1950s which provided the majority of photographs in the book through the NMSU's Rio Grande Historical Collection. There was a picture of the Rocket Drive In Theater in the 1950's. There are also aerial picture views of Las Cruces.
