Back in the game
I love that Mad Catz is back and have to admit that I didn't hesitate when buying this mouse because I have owned a R.A.T. for years. My last one broke after being slammed down on the desk by one of my daughters friends. It was still usable, but one of my functions buttons was gone and very annoying. Some will say it costs too much, but I say you get what you pay for. It it completely customizable. With that said, it's like having a mouse made just for you. Being able to have the exact weight, length, and width is amazing. Getting to pick just about any color you want is just an added perk. My favorite part about this mouse is the pinky rest. It is so nice to have somewhere to have my whole hand rest while gliding back and forth without that awkward pinky in the way.On the down side? One thing I did notice with the 8+ is that is has a smooth finish, so your hand may not grip to is well and the older models. My older model had a more rubber and less plastic feel to it and you could grip onto it better. But that really isn't a complaint as most mice are like this. My work mouse is very slick and all the office mice are the same. So, my thoughts are most are.I would say overall, this mouse is still top notch and best for gaming or for anyone who just wants a fantastic mouse that is customizable. It is well constructed and will definitely be a conversation piece for those who have never seen one. For those who have complained about it. I say, you have never truly used one or have experienced what the R.A.T. can do. It is definitely not like any other. And you cannot compare it to some cheap store model from BB, WM, or other store brand. There really is not comparison when it comes to what this mouse can do.

Great mouse now that I modded it.
Hello! I've been an avid gamer for years. I've come accustom to certain products that work. For all of us it varies. When it comes to mice, 2 brands worked for me, Corsair and Logitech. I haven't gamed much in the last 2 years so I haven't upgraded my gear. I finally got around to upgrading and figured I'd give a Mad Ratz a try. I've stayed away from them, till now, because they looked so robotic. Didn't seem good for me. I figured Amazon is always good about returns, so I'd give it a spin. I was amazed at all the customization to tailor the mouse to my somewhat long hand. I mean my hand isn't abnormally long and large but I take a large/medium glove if I were buying Mechanix gloves (depends on model). So I new the mouse, even with all the adjustments, wasn't comfortable compared to my Corsair and Logitechs of the past. I did find a remedy: I drilled an additional hole - See the red arrow in the picture. this helped tremendously. I can say now I am very satisfied with the mouse and wont have to return it. Up till drilling the hole I found myself cramping my hand to tuck my fingers back to click. Not good. I do have one more thing planned to make this an awesome mouse. Now because this is a limited edition mouse, I will want to take extremely good care of it. I am going to purchase a replacement compatible rear pad and move the locking mechanism forward about a 1/4"-3/8" (see the blue arrows in the picture). I'm extremely handy and plan to JB weld it forward or plastic weld it, both will be very strong and perfect. This should get the full cup grip feeling between the bottom of the thumb and the ring finger. This gives more control. If you have a smaller hand, you shouldn't have this problem with this mouse feeling comfortable. The adjustments are great for allowing anyone find their sweet spot. As it is now I nearly get the cupped grip feeling and it feels real good and I play really well with it. Hopefully Mad Ratz reads this and makes future mice with 3/8" or 14mm more adjustment. I know many have bigger hands than I do and this mouse is close to covering ALL hand types.I see others complaining about the macros. I don't use macros so that isn't an issue for me. The games I play have remapping and macros built in and that happens after the mouse so I guess I'm Lucky there.I read the customer service isn't good and that is one place any company can make a lasting impression. We all talk together so it helps to take care of customers before and ,most importantly, after the sale. Me being quite handy, doesn't have me worrying about customer service. As long as the item works when delivered, I can service my own repairs or issues. In summary, I'm glad I finally tried this mouse brand. I want to give the Pro S3 next!! I like the button design and overall design a bit better. The left and right buttons look a bit more narrow which I would like. The right and left buttons on the 8+ are just a tad wide. a slight more contour on the top of the buttons would be a plus to grab your fingers. I find my fingers sliding a bit left n right during a match and creates a minuscule distraction.

Don't buy any Mad Catz mice for now.
Ok, The problem with this mouse is in the customer service. Which is nonexistant. They have somehow fixed their support page so it declines all submissions by requiring the entry of a missing text field. If you fill out a support form it will not work and give a pop-up demanding the serial number, but there is no serial number field. If there were a serial number field, then this would lock out potential customers simply wanting to ask questions about the mouse. I've found a technical support email, that was returned to me. I've posted on their facebook and twitter pages, with no response. Apparently, Mad Catz was bought by some Chinese company (they are now headquarted in Hong Kong) that is just looking to make a quick buck and doesn't care about their foreign market or maintaining their user base. That said, the mouse works great as long as you don't hit the macro land mine. In gaming multi-key combos are pretty common, so what I normally do with a gaming mouse is bind the control, shift, and alt keyboard keys to thumb keys on the mouse. This way instead of having to contort my left hand to do some weird ctrl-1, alt-6, shiift-= combo, I just press the thumb key with my right hand and press the number key with my other hand. Unfortunately, the driver software is not submitting a held button as held down. It simply fires like a click instead of a keypress. So if you use your mouse for multi-key combos they will simply not work unless you bind the full combo to a key, because they are fired sequentially instead of simultaneously.I tried to submit a support query about this problem because it should be an easy fix, but then I found out the contact use page was broken. Then I tried to contact them by all other available means but have not received any response.

Still the best mouse in the world.
I was always skeptical of the R.A.T mice, that is until my friend bought one and I laid my hand on it; I could tell right away that it was of great quality. I bought the Albino 6 years ago, and it started to break (the average mouse lasts about 2 years), so I bought this one. Here's the lodown;- Excellent quality build with sturdy materials- Great feel for the palm, customizable too;- Clicking is very satisfying;- The changing lights are pretty cool.- It's a bit expensive, but you get what you paid for. It's too bad CYBORG went down the way it did. It was bought by MadCatz, which then declared bankruptcy. Very happy to see Verbatim take on the mantle and continue the legacy of this exceptional gaming hardware. Will definitely buy again.
