Hood and Decklid Release Switch 99761310502A05 for 2005-2012 Porsche 911 Boxster Cayman

The Porsche dealer wanted over $220 for the part and 3 hours of labor to install. This was $40 and I installed it in 10 minutes. The dealer said they had to disconnect the airbags and remove the driver seat. Baloney! Their are two little holes in the side rail and my hex fit perfectly. Literally, was less than 10 minutes. I did repair the old one just in case this fell apart quickly. Several months and no issues. Very happy.

Didn't really fit correctly.After a week - probably opened the front truck a dozen times - the lever broke off.Very annoying! Had the dealer fix it.Maybe you'll have better luck.

This popped right into my 997.1 works perfectly and everything fits and looks like it should.

This product did not fit my 2008 Porsche Cayman. However, the switches and connection did. So I had to take it apart, cut some tabs off, glue some parts to reinforce it, and use my original housing for it to fit in place.

I bought the switch but didn’t immediately install it as the front trunk release was accessible with my key and the engine bay side of the switch still worked. After removing the old switch and immediately upon plugging in the new switch, the engine bay released without the switch being activated. Then, neither side of the switch would work. It was a few days past the Amazon return date so I was irritated it couldn’t be returned.Update: I contacted Amazon via email and they arranged a secure email link between the seller and myself. Seller has a3 year warranty on this product and got the part in 3 days. Installed it and it works perfect.

Works perfect. A little tricky getting the old one out but once it’s out the new one pops in in seconds. Whole installation. Took less than 15minutes.

So this switch arrived on time, worked fine, but like most things made in China, the fitment was off. The part seems to be a bit too long and as a result will not fit in the opening and snap in place as it should as it can not be depressed enough for the tabs to connect and hold it in place. I improvised a work around by getting it as close as possible and then using an adhesive to hold it in. I should have checked to research country of origin, had I known it was made in China, I would not have purchased it.

This product is a direct replacement for the OEM switch. Piece of cake to change.
