Selle Italia Turbo 1980 Road Cycling Saddle

Comfortable saddle for racing position. This shape has worked for me for many years. Not too much padding. Just enough. Classic look.A couple of reasons I'm not giving it 5 stars.First, the glue that holds the leather upper to the base tends to deteriorate, especially if you get the saddle wet. Keeping the saddle out of the rain and covering it with a plastic bag if you ever hose your bike down will extend the life of the saddle.Second complaint is that the leather's black dye tends to bleed. Don't wear the saddle with white shorts because your shorts will turn black on the bottom on a hot, sweaty day.

This saddle is just as I expected of the classic design. Comfortable for long periods of riding. It’s a pity Selle and others have gone away from this style of racing saddle to the “cut out” type that becomes uncomfortable after time particularly if the chamois in your shorts is worn.

The pics show suede seats. The seat I received today is NOT suede... disappointed over here.

I put this on my 1980s Medici Super Strada to finish the build for the l'Eroica portion of the Santa Fe Century. Looks beautiful.

I had a knockoff saddle so I finally decided to just buy the real thing! The Saddle is very comfortable and I couldn't be happier! I live in NYC so I added a leash to it to give me a sense of security with the thing.I use SNOSEAL to waterproof it and that works great!One con is the saddle does bleed a bit in the beginning.

This almost exactly matches the old suede Italia Turbo seat that came on my 80s racer when it was new.

Switched from a Brook B17N to this. On the Brooks I was having issues with pressure on perineum. Also, the brooks didn't have very long rails. Anyway, this saddle has fixed both of these problems. I didn't even have a break in period for this saddle. It was comfortable immediately; I think this saddle was made for my a$$.

Turbo... Just for champions.. I love it.

I had one of these saddles several years ago on a bike but I sold the bike complete with the saddle. I have recently bought a new bike but I don't get on with its firm saddle. I found that the Turbo saddle was being made again and so decided to try one, having been very happy with my previous one. Probably the best thing I can say is that I now don't notice the saddle due to a higher level of comfort. This is the saddle a lot of pro cyclists used back in the 1980's, so they knew a good thing when they found it. And it's a cheap saddle compared to the price of many of the modern saddles on the market.

I did not buy this for my racing bike but another that needed a new seat. I have sat on seats that cost over 100 Pounds and whilst they are good, this seat astonishes with a high satisfactory level. If you like your seat post hard and functional (meaning that there is space for your legs to do the work) and something that prevents sliding, at a good price under 50 Pounds stop hesitating now and join the league of 1000s of convinced riders!

I purchased a new bike and the fitted saddle was uncomfortable and I never got used to it. I therefore replaced it with this older design which I had on a previous bike. It's a little heavy compared to the latest models but on a longer ride comfort is more important to those of us who wish to enjoy a little exercise but aren't interested in racing.

A great change from the bike seat that came with my b'twin triban 3. This one looks a bit heavier but the weight was equal with the old seat, I could comfortably live with the look. Thanks!

Saddle looks exactly like the one I had in the 90's, not some cheapened replica that looks out of place on a retro bike. Great!
