I waste a lot of money buying cheap stuff then having to replace it later. I like to listen to late night talk radio when I am ready to turn out the lights. I put a small radio under my pillow so I can access the on-off button easily. The cheap Am/FM radio I was using had poor reception even for the strongest station. I decided on the Eton because it was less that the most expensive one but still looked like it would be good enough. Turned out to be excellent. Great features, easy operation, very clear reception.

This is a great radio . . . if . . . you understand what its strengths and weaknesses are: namely, it has a dim screen and a somewhat tinny speaker, which makes it not a good outdoor, bright sunlight radio, and not very good when around competing noises. Use earphones of good quality and the FM stereo is fantastic and everything else is great. For shortwave use the scan feature, it is very fast at finding the next tunable station. Also, there is a quick tune button that jumps to the next shortwave band. The quick tune button also will jump 100 kHz on MW (ie 600, 700, 800 etc.), and 1 mHz on FM (I.e. 89, 90, 91). The earphone wire becomes your antenna for SW and FM when plugged in. MW is very good, but AGC (automatic gain control) can be slow maximizing the signal. If you use the sleep timer and lockout button you can use the radio to go to sleep in bed. This radio is fantastic at tuning in FM stations. It beats out all competitors. This is one of the best pocket radios you can buy for earphone use.

Features am/fm and 2 short wave ( don’t know much about SW), alarm, and sleep timer. It works well but I gave it a 4 and not a 5 because I feel the audio can be a bit louder. My 15 dollar pocket radio goes louder but I only like using that at home. Highly recommend rechargeable aaa batteries. Comes with a brown pouch to store it and loop your belt through. It’s a very very tight pouch but will break in. I use to it just to protect it the radio when in my pocket or bag. You may find cheaper radios but I feel this is a sturdy radio that last years down the road. Edit: again I know nothing about radios and features other than how to search for stations. But apparently with the short wave you can listen to world radio certain times through the day which is cool if you’re into that. I missed the part where this device is a “ World receiver “ whoops! Still a cool pocket radio

Nice form factor and features (backlight, alarm), great design and controls, good radio (selectivity and sensitivity). Build quality could be better. Pluses: headphones sound quality, and sound through external speaker (connecting through cable to my portable speaker). However: tiny sound from speaker; issues with volume control (crackling, a bit uneven left/right sound); looks not as pictured (icon on power button printed in white instead of red, band select switch and surrounding border are dark gray instead of silver). Sound is great using headphones. However, there are slight pops when adjusting volume and a painfully loud pop when switching the radio on - I have quickly learned not to switch it on with the headphones plugged in. I was expecting better, build-quality wise. (Maybe I got a fake? I don't think so, seller was Amazon.) Another thing: no Micro-USB power input, as in description. (Needs some kind of round connector.)

This is the first and probably only time I could afford a Grundig related radio. I'm sorry to report all the other comments are true, especially the negative ones. My main problem is it's basically unusable because of the controls on every edge and side of the radio. It has two wheel knobs on one side for volume and manual tuning which is good because without autoprogramming or presets the button tuning process is hair-pulling frustration. You have to go to each station, one at a time, to get anywhere on the dial. And there's no direct entry. That leaves the side-wheel which of course changes the frequency every time you pick it up or put it in a pocket. Volume likewise. The band selector opposite edge is very stiff and you cannot switch to a specific shortwave or AM band with any accuracy. It also mutes sound while tuning so you won't know if there's a faint signal to be heard unless you wait a second on every frequency. The autoscan bypasses most AM stations including local moderately strong ones. If you do take the time the actual AM reception isn't bad, just tuning is tiring. Reception on shortwave is far better with my cheap handhelds. The stereo signal on FM has a problem and even strong local stations are usually monaural. Even when it's on the stereo field is almost absent. I originally was going to say good design, poor execution but trying to use it it's just poor design. I would hold the brand and the price to a higher standard and it fails miserably. You're much better off with a cheaper product. I'm glad I paid half-price.

Edit 12/14/20 Since my purchase two weeks ago Eton has more than doubled the price on Amazon of this radio to $47.98 which seems a bit high. Awesome, fun little radio. I would buy this again. If you own the Eton Traveler or Executive, this is a great little companion radio. Slips in a shirt pocket. Pros: -Crisp clear sound for size -Receives really well on FM, MW and SW (almost as good as Eton Traveler) -Fits in a shirt pocket. -No hiss with headphones -Nice volume adjustment The radio could be perfected by adding: -A kickstand -Rubberized edges or corners -Add some internal weight for a more rugged feel -12 hour time option -Memory presets - a better fitting case with holes for the screen Cons: -Band switch is stiff -Insufficient packaging. Box and plastic insert were crushed. Needs more cardboard inside the box. -Faux leather case is too tight and the holes don’t match the button. I snipped the case near the hole for power button to ease some tension. It’s like the factory measured the case and didn’t account for the stitching. Tips: - you can use the Time button to advance through the frequencies faster. It’s really helpful. -A common sunglasses pouch makes a great protective bag and gives you something to wipe the screen with. If you are on the fence, give it a try. It’s a joy to use!

I received my first transistor radio for Christmas in 1966 when I was 5 years old. I have been a fan of portable transistor radios ever since. I was unfamiliar with the term at the time, but I was actually an AM dxer when I was in my early teens. Through the decades I have owned a plethora of portable transistor radios. I’d been looking at the Eton Elite Mini Compact for some time. I haven’t had good luck with the reception on the mini size radios. Yes, the size is very convenient, but generally the reception is less than desirable. I read enough positive reviews on the Elite Mini that I decided to give it a shot. As soon as I got it out of the box, put in a couple AAA batteries and turned it on. I was completely blown away by the reception and the crystal clear sound quality. This instantly became my favorite radio of all time. Don’t let its size fool you. This little micro unit could easily hold its ground against the 4 x D cell ship anchor versions. I highly recommend this radio whether it’s your primary unit or the one that you choose to put in your bug out bag.

Didn't have much expectation for this, but managed to be disappointed anyway. AM/FM reception is fine, though audio quality suffers due to the small speaker. SW is mostly useless (at least in the USA), the reception suffers due to the small antenna -- and if you're going to tote around a reel antenna to compensate for that, you may as well step up to a slightly larger receiver, like the CC Skywave. My real complaint is with the "leather" case, which is actually polyurethane. At least on my example, it had a poor fit and is much too tight on the radio. It covers the screen, so even though you can use the tuning knob on the side of the radio, you can't see where you're at in the band. The front controls (excepting the power button) are covered up and inaccessible. The cover's perforation for the speaker doesn't line up with the position of the speaker in the radio, so the sound is even worse in the case. It's pretty much useless. I suppose at $20, the pricepoint is low enough that if you want AM/FM in a pocket size, it's a good fit for that. I returned mine.

Me acaba de llegar y al abrir la cajita -francamente- fue amor a primera vista. Amo la radio y buscaba un equipo portátil para sintonizar la radio en cualquier lugar. Cuando llegó me di cuenta que es muy ligero, al abrirlo fue una agradable sorpresa ver su tamaño y la funda. La recepción es muy buena considerando que estoy en un edificio enorme y de muros por todas partes. El sonido de su pequeña bocina me voló la cabeza. Compraré 2 más: uno para mi papá y otro para mi suegro. Quiero compartir con ellos esta maravillosa experiencia. Radioapasionados: no duden en tener uno. **En la foto lo comparo con un iPhone 11 Pro Max, con los audífonos puestos dio la opción de sonido Stereo ¡y se escucha excelente! Sin audífonos el sonido es 100% nostálgico (espero que se aprecie en el video). ADEMÁS: Puede usarse con pilas o con un adaptador de corriente de 3 voltios y la sintonía es digital a través de un dial lateral que me parece excepcional. ¡Excelente servicio ETON!

I wanted a pocket radio that I could listen to while I am travelling it has many features and different Bandwidths FM medium wave and to shortwave bands I love to listen to classical music and this radio is ideal for it as it has an earphone jack so you can listen to the radio whilst travelling also it has its own inbuilt speaker it came with a nice pouch which is handy for clipping to your belt so really it's the ideal travelling companion

This is a very slim radio,almost half as thick as a pack of cigarettes. So,it's a true pocket radio.Make sure you don't drop it.It's strong,but as you know hard surfaces can damage many things easily,sometimes. It has stereo sound,which is loud if you use earphones/headphones. It has AM/FM and an alarm clock.You can lock the button,so it stays on the station of your choice.It is loud enough in a car. All in all,great little pocket radio,that you can take anywhere you go.

Zu leise , findet auf MW fast nicht und das schlimmste , einmal in die Hülle gesteckt bekommt man das Radio nicht mehr heraus .
