awesome boots
Got them about 4 days before my latest backpacking trip. Spent 4 days in the wilderness. The boots took very little break in. They were good to go after just 4 days. They fit as they should (I do recommend trying a pare on at a store before ordering. They tend to run narrow so I ordered "ee" wide & they fit perficatly.) I hiked with a 35 pound back pack several miles with no hot spots & no blisters. I climed rocks & the soles held. I stood in creeks more than ankle deep with no leeks. They were very comfortable right out of the box. If you are looking for an 8 inch boot for outdoor activities like backpacking, hiking, hunting or just tromping around in the field I strongly recommend the Dinner East Ridge. What makes them even better is good ole American engineering {the only boot I can find made in the USA}. The price is well worth what you get. Also Amazon appears to have the best price on these boots. GO DANNER!!!!!!

So far so good
It's the first all leather boots I've bought in 20yrs or so. I've been buying leather/cordura and just wanted all leather this time. Stiffer than I expected right out of box. Fit was very slightly larger than sz. 14 Rocky and 15yo Danner boots I have. I normally wear sz 14 Rockport and Clark shoes, sz. 15 Saucony and Asic sneaks. I 'm still in the 'break in' stage, only have three walks of over four miles each on them, and out of the box they're fine. With a thin liner sock and a Cabela's boot sock no blisters. Walking on blacktop up and down steep grades my foot stayed in place. Wooded side hills my ankles couldn't roll over and side bite was solid. They had good traction on bare ground and steeper dirt roads but caked up and didn't clean off as well as on muddier surfaces. I'm hoping the stiffness eases up as I wear them. They appear well made with no missed stitches or loose threads. Haven't tested the water 'proofness' of them but from previous experience with Danner and GoreTex, I don't anticipate any issues.

Worth every cent, old school quality.
So all the advice about fit is accurate. These boots are true to cut for length, I wear a 14 and it can be tricky as so many large size lasts are not accurate. These are legitimate 14s, though the width is quite narrow, normally I wear a D and saw the warning so I got the EE and they fit like a glove. Construction quality is what I expect from Danner. They are one of the few remaining who really make serious quality boots. I'm sure I'll own these for years where so many other brands I wear the soles through in a year. The uppers are serious quality and they have legit welt design as well.

Danner boots gone wrong!
Have had numerous of danners between the pronghorns and mountain light II, I have also always worn the same size (12d) and they fit like a glove. These boots here are built small, my first impressions were the same as past danners, a little snug but would break in and fit great after a few wearings. These didn't do that, I called Danner to see if I could return them for a slightly larger size and was told they had to be in perfect condition and no wear. That alone would've been fine if the sizing was correct and quality control was in line. Needless to say I have a $220.00 pair of hunting/hiking boots that are now used as paper weights. Danner, step up and make this Right!

Danner boots
Great boot, pretty much a not talked about boot, assembled in USA from imported materials (too bad). Fits as described, don't use the Danner sizing chart, it will have you order way too big of a boot!!

Works for Field and Office
I'm a field biologist who works in muddy conditions. It can be hard for women to find real work boots so I was excited to see these offered in small sizes. I needed an uninsulated, non-safety toe, office appropriate tall boot and these are perfect. They are comfortable and keep my feet dry when out in wetlands, woods, and swamps. They might have some light insulation, but with wool hiking socks my feet stay comfortable. I hope with regular cleaning and waxing/oiling I get several years' use out of these boots. Highly recommend.

Poor fit, worse smell
These boots are so small it was impossible for me to even walk around in them when I tried them on. I would need to go a full size larger to get something that fit. All of my other boots fit fine at 9M. I considered reordering a size up, but, even though they look like a nice rugged pair of boots, the smell of them is atrocious. Since they are billed as hunting boots, I would think that would be something Danner would pay close attention to. The last straw is that they really are not made in the US, they are assemble in the US of imported components. Sort of misleading if you ask me.
