This works with your finger or the pen, but the pen nicely attaches permanently to the pad and has a clickon boulder too. My 3 year-olds use this whenever we go to the restaurant they like it better than crayons. Has held up well, even though it is fairly thin, but that helps make it easy to take in my purse.

Did not last a year. I couldn't clear it so I changed the battery and it still wouldnt clear. It was awesome but died fast.
