GreenView Pure Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mixture, 20 lb. Bag

After 30 years of playing around with top branded shade seed and their false claims, one of the local greens keepers at a golf course I frequent turned me onto this GreenView seed... I'm dealing with 3 large oak trees in my front yard which not only shade the majority of the lawn, but also suck the nitrogen from the soil as fast as I can correct it making for slow germination of new seed if it germinated at all.... On the morning of day 5 I was greeted with a germination rate that was through the roof and I thought my eyes were deceiving me because this has never happened in this area of the yard... Cut the grass on day 11 and have since added more seed in the areas which weren't seeded enough (I think the rate of seed specified per sqft on the bag is to low).... Lawn was given a light coating of fresh topsoil and raked in with the seed.... Areas exposed to the sun were covered lightly with peat moss.... I forgot to take a BEFORE image but I will tell you that this area was almost completely bare before planting.... Attached image is from day 13 taken at 6:30am... I'll be doing a follow-up review after about 30 days and few more mowings...

I was a bit surprised, but the grass seeds did write my grass , but l should have bought another bag.

I searched for zoysia seed and this grass seed popped up. I ordered this because the website says it is good for partial shade and sunlight areas. When the bag was delivered, I find a stick and peel label attached to the bag which says it is 33% rye grass with a smaller amount of Kentucky bluegrass. Rye grass and Kentucky blue grass is pitiful for the hot Texas summers. If I had known the bag content, I would not have purchased it. The content label and description did not appear anywhere on the website. Now I am stuck with it and cannot return it.

It's grass seed. One should be able to loosen the dirt, apply the seed and step in and water it daily until it sprouts which it has not done after several weeks.

If only you could’ve seen my backyard before hardly any grass and all weeds. So I scalped it down, dethatched, slit seeded it in with sun and shade and mainly the sunny mix in the front yard and it never once went dormant and grows amazing. Lots of nitrogen and humid acid applications help it keep dark green and soil healthy!

I used this grass seeds for my front yard I don't get too much sun because of my big tree but it worked well I was surprised because I was not sure it would work; I recommend this grass seeds.

Great Quality product. If you rough up the dirt and keep the seed covered with something like straw, etc. this stuff germinates quickly strongly and nice and extra green!
