We absolutely love the PetSafe KeepSafe Break-Away Collar and have bought it for two of our dogs. The quality is excellent—so much so that when the collar does break away (which is the whole point), I sometimes have a hard time clicking it back together because the plastic latch is so strong and durable. That gives me a lot of peace of mind, knowing it won’t come undone unless it needs to. There’s no reflectiveness on the collar, which isn’t an issue for us, but something to note if you’re looking for nighttime visibility. As far as value for money, this collar is 100% worth it for the safety it provides. We’ve purchased the red and blue colors for our first two dogs and recently added a third. Since she’s a girl, I’ve been holding out for the purple color—but it’s been out of stock for what feels like forever! I really hope PetSafe brings it back, because we would buy it instantly. For sizing, we used a piece of yarn around each dog’s neck, cut it to size, then measured the yarn with a tape measure to find the best fit. The collars are true to size, and as long as you measure correctly, you’ll get a perfect fit. If you’re looking for a high-quality safety collar that does exactly what it promises, this is the one. We won’t use anything else.

We have two Golden Retreiver's who love to play. They are brothers and are nine months old. We had traditional collars on them and had to remove them due to the choking hazard during play time. I walked outside one morning to bring them back inside from playing in the fenced yard. They were both looking at me and not moving. I knew they wanted to come but something was keeping them from moving. I went out to find one of them had gotten his bottom jaw twisted in the others collar. It was so tight I struggled to get the clasp free. After that we removed their collars. We really hated to not have something on them in the event they escaped from their yard. So I researched and found these break away collars and read all the good reviews and most had similar stories to mine. Well first day we had these on when they came back in from playing only one was wearing their collar. So these WORK! I was so happy to know that we can now safely leave their collars on while they play and are outdoors. Thank you so much Petsafe for making this wonderful product and thank you Amazon for carrying it. I can't imagine the devastation of losing a furry family member in a horrible accident due to a collar. My heart goes out to those who have went thru that loss. Ours boys play hard and for whatever reason one of them really loves to pull at the other ones collar. I don't know what we would do without these. When we take our dogs to the groomers they wash these while our dogs are being groomed and they come out looking brand new. I highly recommend these. Just wanted to follow up after really putting the product to the test!! November 2019 These collars are still in great condition and doing their job!! I can't recommend them enough. It is honestly hard to purchase something nowadays at this price point that lasts as long as they have. This is one of the only products that I can think of that I have purchased from Amazon that I have updated my review more than once. But I want to make sure that I share just how impressed I am with these collars. We don't use them for taking them out on walks as we prefer a harness. That doesn't reflect on the product at all, it is merely a personal choice. I paid for this product, it wasn't free or a promotional item. No one is asking me to write this review. I simply love my dogs like they are my kids and I truly believe that these collars have kept them from seriously hurting each other, or worse, during playtime. If I were able to give them 10 stars I would. April 2024 Update Still using these on our boys and loving them. They don't rough house as much as they used too, but on occasion they do and these still function perfectly.

Due to some recent events where dogs have died due to getting their collars stuck and suffocating, I decided it was time to try a breakaway collar. My dog scales the dog gate when there are thunder storms and she panics, she also plays under low pines trees in our yard so I don't want her getting caught on branches. Several dog trainers I work with let their dogs run naked at home or have collars with flat tags when they leave the house. I'm not comfortable not having tags on my dog. She's microchipped however she's an older dog with some medical issues so her tags contain important medical information. I also have an activity monitor for her so I need a collar for that device. After looking at several different products I chose this one because of the way the D-rings function. I'm able to attach the collar to a leash without worrying that the collar will break off. It's also easy to take on and off which is important for me when I take her out of the house because she's a therapy dog with multiple collars. I've only had the collar for about a week but so far I'm happy with it. The break away portion works well. I had trouble getting the collar out of the plastic ring tightened around it for the packaging. I pulled so hard that the collar came apart at the breakaway portion. It was also easy to put back together when it did come apart. One thing I realized however when that happened is that it seemed to take considerable force to get it to come apart. The strength of the breakaway link is supposed to be relative to the size of the collar ordered so I can only speak towards this one. I ordered a purple medium collar, 1 inch width. Even though my dog is older she's still fit overall and a muscular pit bull mix so this characteristic is not an issue for me. Pros: Two D-rings to attach leash to so collar doesn't come off if dog pulls It comes in various widths and colors Made of sturdy material, not flimsy Easy to get on and off to switch collars Cons: (the reasons it got 4 stars instead of 5) The D-rings are thick so if the clasp is small for the leash it can be difficult to hook it to both rings at the same time. The D-rings are thick so the clasp for the tags has to be big enough to get on the D-ring. I bought purple instead of red, though I wanted red because it would be easier to find if it came off. However the price was drastically different. It was about 5 dollars cheaper to get purple instead of red. It was only $9.

This is a great collar. I have a very athletic little APBT who every so often will jump/climb a very tall gate when I get home and before I get to the house, as well as fences, ladders and other things while following me around our property. I finally got one after a trainer that I like had mentioned them and because I was afraid she’d get caught on one of the gates. Sure enough, not long after I bought the collar, I found it laying on one side of the 6ft chain link gate and she was on the other side. I was extremely glad I’d bought the collar. Another time she went under a parked vehicle and got caught and the collar gave away under the vehicle. I’m satisfied with the amount of force it takes for the collar to break away. The only downside is that if you reach to grab your dog by the collar and don’t get it by both rings, it will break away if they pull hard- but I think that’s the case with any worthwhile breakaway collar under that amount of pressure. I’ve had zero issues with it coming apart during rough play with other dogs, but I know it would come apart if they actually got caught in it. I definitely recommend this collar, especially if you have an adventurous dog with a tendency to get themselves into sticky situations. Even dogs out on large properties, or dogs that live and play with other dogs... but really any dog could benefit, because you just never know. I once had to untangle a dog who was being strangled by her collar in an accident playing with another dog in which you couldn’t unclip the collar. Like other reviewers have attested to, it can be a lifesaver. In fact, my Mom bought one for one of her dogs after seeing mine work as intended. My dog is a small and lean 50lb APBT, I got a medium and it fits her really well.

These collars are well made. I have to have a breakaway collar at daycare, and for hiking and they withstand harsh weather. It is very difficult to find a breakaway collar. I'm glad I found this on line.

Busqué este tipo de collar por todos lados y solo lo encontré en Amazon. Tengo dos perros que se la pasan jugando y se jalan del collar a cada rato, ya hace tiempo había visto que muchos se llegan a atorar y al jalar para destrabarse llegan a axfixiar al otro perro o al quedarse solos en casa se atoran de alguna manera y se jalan provocando el mismo resultado. Es un problema mucho más común de lo que se piensa y no entiendo como es tan difícil encontrar collares asi. El collar no sólo es muy bonito y de buena calidad, funciona muy bien y tiene un precio excelente. Lo recomiendo muchísimo! Las tallas recomendadas por el vendedor inicialmente me parecieron chicas pero al ver otros comentarios decidí hacerles caso. En efecto las tallas recomendadas son correctas, no hay necesidad de pedir más grandes.

Very easy to use and definitely works to keep my dog safe. Just ensure when the dog is on the leash that you attach the lead to both loops. The collar fits well and is also very sturdy.

Okay, edited version, 4.5 stars. These are very good collars, the break free ones. Only thing is, the ring for the dog tags is very thin plastic and the tags ripped off someplace, which is very annoying. Should be replaced with a metal ring. Last collar lasted five years, part of the break away part snapped off. Not a big deal in my case as I use a halter for the dog while walking, and the collar just for ID purposes, but still.
