Magnetic Motorcycle Tank Pad Protector - Universal Shaped - Black

I have a gloss black tank, and the matte black of this protector is nice and subtle. It has the same color as a plain black refrigerator magnet.I put it under a hot hair dryer for 1 minute, and the pad got hot and pliable. I smoothed it onto the tank, repositioned it, and 1 minute later it was cold and set.

For me this piece was not useful. It's a good idea but a poor execution. It's really small. It moves every time I touch it. The magnet is not strong enough. Every time I get off of my bike I find this tank pad has moved to the side of the tank. Ended up throwing it away after a couple weeks.

The Tank protector protects against unwanted marks on your tank and can be removed and put back on as needed, cleaning around the area protected. Looks good and is very high quality product.

The good, quick delivery and it works as intended. I heated it slightly with a heat gun (hair dryer recommended on directions, which I don't have in the shop) and it formed and stuck well to the tank. Which is more than I can say about a couple other tank protectors I bought from Amazon that blew off on the first ride. And being magnetic, it comes off readily for cleaning.The bad? It's sort of ugly. The material is a little "hard' and sort of a dull gloss, and thin, maybe 1/32 thick. I was thinking this was a thicker, molded rubber part, not a die cut sheet. Worse, the manufacturer's logo is printed prominently on the front face. IMO, not a good value for $20. Looks like something you'd expect to pay $5 for. I'll use it until I pick up a better looking one at my local bike shop.

I at first rated this as 4 stars, but now that I have had it awhile, I'm reducing it to two. The magnet is simply too weak, and it moves or slides off altogether. I had this type of tank protector years ago, with a much better magnet.

What is a good value for the money. I installed it on my motorcycle fuel tank to protect from buttons or belt buckle scratching it. Works and looks great

I had a couple of Mag-Knight protectors on bikes; they're very high-quality and work as claimed. I like that they're easily removable when necessary for cleaning, etc. They're also easy to trim to fit if necessary using sharp scissors or Xacto knife. Molds slightly to curved surfaces if installed on a hot day or pre-heated with a hair dryer.
