Fantastic Pen!
I am a previous owner of a Fisher Space Pen. Specifically, I owned the Bullet Space Pen (Chrome). I lost it after four happy years. I wanted to replace my lost pen with another, and that's when I came across the Fisher Space Pen, X-Mark Bullet Space Pen, Matte Black. Let me tell you why I love these pens. First, they write smoothly. Second, you can put them in your pants pocket without worrying that your body heat will cause them to leak ink in your pocket. They will not leak. If you don't wear a shirt with pockets, then you'll need to carry a pen in your pants pocket (if you wish to carry a pen). I suppose women (or men) could carry a pen in a bag, or whatever, but, that's not an option for me. The bad thing about my old pen (the Bullet, Chrome) was that it was tapered, and had a smooth chrome finish. This made it a little too easy for the pen to slide out of my pocket when I sat down, especially in a car. I "lost" my old Space (chrome) three times before the last time, when I was unable to find it. Enter the X-Mark Bullet Fisher Space Pen: This pen has ALL the qualities I loved about my original Space Pen, plus a few. First, the cap has a clip, and this provides enough of a texture to keep it from sliding out of your pants pocket when you carry it in your pants pocket. Second, you can clip your pen on your shirt pocket, or on your pants pocket, if you're wearing cargo pants, or pants with large openings at the pockets. All of this would be quite irrelevant if the pen itself did not write with quality, so let me say that it does. It writes smoothly, as mentioned, and it writes on many different surfaces that ordinary pens cannot write on, such as plastic lids, etc. It won't replace your Sharpie, but, it will write on a lot of smooth surfaces that will not usually take ink from a ball point. Also, because the ink is pressurized, it does, indeed, write at any angle. This is useful for me because I often jot things down on a legal pad (or whatever) while I am lying down. I have drawn entire schematics while holding a legal pad and writing with the pen upside down. Most pens will quickly run dry at the tip when you don't have them angled mostly downward. The Fisher Space pen will write smoothly at all angles, for as long as you need it to do so. I have owned all of the big names, and most of the small names, and, without hesitation, I can say that Fisher Space Pens are my favorite pen. And, the Fisher X-Mark Bullet Space Pen, Matte Black is my favorite Fisher Space Pen. It is really hard to believe that such a quality writing instrument, with such unique and robust features, is so inexpensive. Plus, they are MADE IN THE USA, and I like that. I have many friends who are in the military, or the police, and are tactical shooters. This pen has become very popular with them, because of the features that I mentioned, and the non-reflective coating that this all-metal pen has. The Fisher Space Pen, X-Mark, Matte Black, let's them easily update the all important "journal," while in the field. In closing, this pen is . . . GREAT!

Best EDC pen - here's why, and why the O-ring is not a problem
Buy this one even if it's EDC and you never intend to use the clip. Space pens are the most reliable pen you can buy at any price. Same refill as any other space pen, so forget any comments about poor writing quality. You could get a bad refill (not likely), but that could happen to any of the line. They are made in Germany and pressure-sealed to assure consistent ink flow. X-Mark comes with a medium point and I prefer the fine, so I always have a few unused refills around. Ordering a few refills wouldn't hurt just to make sure you always have a working version in your pocket. They don't give up prematurely. If it works when you put it in your pocket, it will work when you need it. And the ink lasts way longer than a standard pen This is the best EDC version for pocket carry for 2 reasons. 1. The clip keeps the pen from rolling away. You put it down and it stays there. 2. Being shorter, it vanishes in your pocket, yet the writing length (cap on back) is basically the same because the non-clip versions end is above where you hold the pen, so it adds no value, other than making the pen longer in your pocket. 3. It has all the virtues of any Space Pen. It will not let you down. Forget to cap it? No problem. Let it sit for a year. No problem. Need to write on a vertical surface, no problem.. Wet surface? No problem. As to O-rings: The last few X-Marks I bought (I sometimes leave them on the plane, or give them to people who like what they see) have had not O-ring problems at all. The cap goes on firmly, stays put, and never falls off unintentionally. I believe the problem is solved, but if you happen to love the pen, but the O-ring isn't working for you, the solution is as close as Amazon or your local hardware store: 010 O-Ring - very common size. 010 aerospace o-ring fixes Fisher x-mark cap 1/4" inside diameter (3/8" outside diameter) x 1/16" wall. Nitrile Rubber - Buna N or Viton VITON best

Favorite Fisher Yet
This really improves on the others I have by including a clip and a flat area instead of rounded pointy cap end. Good clip retention in shirt pockets and also small enough to fit in most men’s wallet that I own, easy to write with full length pen when cap is removed and placed on top. Good balance and great ink cartridge.

Great, Takes Abuse Without Issues.
This pen has been great. It has withheld daily pocket carry, and the fact that it is only missing a few flecks of paint here or there is a testament to the robustness after the abuse it takes. The ink could be better (it's no gel pen) but for what it is I have no complaints.

Excellent, if you need a pen like this
I bought this pen with the intention of using it as part of my EDC (everyday carry) kit. How often do you wish you had a pen on you, and you wind up searching around for one? This is a great pen, and it is ALMOST worth 5 stars. The good: It writes smoothly, most of the time (see below). It is tough as nails (it should, with a metal frame), and the seal makes it pretty dust proof (I've never tested to check it for waterproof). It is small when closed, which makes it very easy to carry. The not-so-good: In order for it to be long enough to write comfortably, you need to put the cap on the other end of the pen. This is pretty normal, as you would do that with most pens that have a cap. However, if you push the cap on the back of the pen too hard, it can get REALLY REALLY (did I mention really?) jammed onto the pen. My pen has a couple dents in it, because I had to use pliers to separate the barrel from the cap once. I didn't jam it onto the back either--I just pushed it on a little too hard. Also, the clip can fall off. I leave the clip off completely, as it sits in my pocket better that way. But if you want to use the clip, just be aware that it is not a permanent part of the cap. Whether or not this is an issue is entirely up to you. I notice that occasionally, when you first start to write, the first letter or two can get smudged. It writes smoothly (as I mentioned above), but the ink can sometimes glob up on the pen tip before you use it. Not a deal killer, but something to consider. Overall, I really like this pen as a carry-around-and-take-it-out-when-needed item. Is it worth the money over a standard Bic? Yes, if you want the smoothness and durability. If you just need to jot down a note while at your desk, and you don't care about carrying it, this may be overkill. Like most things, your mileage may vary. Enjoy.

Quirky but I love them
Yeah the O-Ring on this pen, which holds the cap on when in the closed configuration, is comically loose. And I don’t understand why they tapered the cap end! I just want the clip to be perfectly flush with the cap. Very hard to find such a pen. I bought this one thinking the shape of the cap would be easier to modify and reposition the clip to be flush with end of cap. and it would be perfect if they had simply not tapered the frickin cap. makes no sense to design a significantly less useful pen just for a slight curvature in the stamped metal cap. Anyway these are good pens, but not as nice to write with as felt tip or some really nice ballpoint pens. Due to the pressurized cartridge, the ink used in these has to be thicker than standard pens, I believe. There’s a certain unsmooth quality to these. They don’t always begin writing instantly and they don’t write well when held at shallow angles to the paper. They are slightly less nice to write with than the average ballpoint pen. Still, it’s a durable and mostly well built product (as long as you fix the O-Ring and your clip doesn’t come off) (the clips are a separate piece not welded on. they are tight but free to slide up and down the cap, which tapers. slide too far up the taper and clip comes off cap. you may lose the pen if you rely too heavily on the clip. i will be JB Welding mine to the cap to prevent this. Ok this pen kinda sucks unless you just want a space pen. They made some really dumb design decisions and one should not have to modify a frickin pen just to have a usable tool. But I digress...

Perfect pen
Makes a great gift and everyone can appreciate the matte black color. Never had an issue with ink flow and it always writes smooth.

Best EDC Pen
I love EDC and more recently, I bought a Skinth OG to expand on my nerdiness, allowing me to carry quite a bit of kit with me at work and wherever I go. For years though, one thing had stayed the same. I always carried a Pilot G2 1.0. I love the thick line and the pen was always just my go to, most comfortable pen. With this pouch, things changed. They do make a Pilot G2 Mini, which I was tempted to get. However, a coworker of mine has the Space Pen Bullet and let me try it out. The compact nature of the pen and the sturdy build quality, combined with the fancy ink cartridge that's pressurized so if I ever find myself needing a pen UNDER WATER, or IN SPACE, I can always rely on it has convinced me. I found the Mark X version of the Space Pen while perusing Amazon and decided I preferred the flat cap design it offers over the regular Bullet style. After a few weeks of using it, I have to say it's pretty much perfect. The black finish is a little scuffed but let me stress, this thing sits on the outside strap of my pouch and puts up with the abuse of smacking every wall and chair arm as I go by. It looks fantastic to me. I love how small it is and how it folds out into a comfortable size for writing. While I haven't written an essay with it yet, I'd say it's doable.

Toller kleiner Stift

Great compact pocket pen
I have the standard bullet pen which is also great, but the shorter, flat cap on the X-Mark is a great feature making it more suitable for carrying in a pocket or attaching to a notebook, with less of the pen protruding out. It's it's long enough when posted to be comfortable to hold and write with. The chrome finish looks great.
