The Making of Assisi: The Pope, the Franciscans, and the Painting of the Basilica Hardcover – Illustrated, October 8, 2013

A beautiful book, but pretty technical. Just be forewarned that it can be heavy going or the general reader.

Amazing book blending history and art. Too bad that the author didn't answer an email that I sent seeking some clarification about a specific footnote entry (I have been to Assisi many times). I should probably take off a star for that.

This was a gift chosen from the recipient's Amazon wish list. They seemed very pleased with this book especially after returning from a recent trip to Assisi.

I've yet to visit Assisi but this book is an excellent introduction to art I intend to see for myself. A book for browsing and for reading - quite beautiful.
