Great little laptop, but beware of something...
This is a very nice laptop. It's light but well made. 4 gb ram might not be enough for people who work with multiple windows open, but for web surfing and light work, it cannot be beat. One warning, however... the computer is set up as a Windows 10S, not Windows 10 home. You can upgrade to Windows 10 Home through the Microsoft store, but the changeover may be difficult for inexperienced users.Do not expect this laptop to be a desktop replacement. It isn't. I bought it for my wife because she is a light user. She does nothing heavy-duty or data-intensive with this machine. Her needs are modest: web surfing, youtube viewing, light word processing and small spreadsheets and email. It features good battery time and is light enough to carry from one room to another. She doesn't need a big hard drive for the kinds of things she uses her computer for. So, I give it a five star because it absolutely fits the bill for the kind of computing my wife does, and at a bargain price.

For web browsing only... maybe get a Chromebook
I broke my former HP Laptop and needed to replace it. I thought this was a nice, economic choice. It was not. At first, things went OK, but as I started to restore my files from an over-the-web backup and install the software I needed to use, it became clear this computer is only useful as a web browser.I should have checked about disk space, RAM, etc., a LOT better than I did, but I got my first clue when I tried to restore my data from a cloud backup. It errored out about 1/10th of the way into it... ran out of disk space. Over the course of the next few days, I removed all but ONE folder of data - the one for the gem and mineral society I do monthly newsletters for. That's pretty pathetic.I re-installed the Microsoft Office 365 that I have by subscription. That installed and seemed to be OK. I re-installed Photoshop Elements 2018 and had all sorts of problems. Ran out of disk space again just trying to install it. Ran out of RAM using it!!! I tried to edit and crop just a scanned business card - not anything a wimpy laptop shouldn't be able to handle - but when I tried to save the new file, I got an error message that I didn't have enough RAM to do that. I rebooted, then went into Task Manager and killed a few non-essential programs to free up enough RAM such that it no longer gave me the error message. But Photoshop Elements then just exited without an error message and without saving the new file. Went through a half dozen iterations of this.At that point, I gave up. This computer is not able to actually do any tasks other than web browsing, maybe editing Word files. I need to run software, although it's not resource-hogging stuff... it's just clicking a key every second or two at most, which should not tax the system.I am not an idiot, although I certainly was when I ordered this laptop. It was late night, I was desperate and feeling really broke. The reviews were positive and I figured I didn't need a heavy-duty workhorse, so I went for it. The price was right! But I would have done a whole lot better with a $150-175 Chromebook, which of course I can't use because I need the Office suite and Photoshop Elements. Back to not being an idiot, I have a BS in computer and information science (cum laude), some graduate work towards and MSCIS, and went through the entire coursework at Florida Atlantic University for MCSE certification. Also the A+ (computer repair) series. I was also a Certified Software Quality Analyst and had some other credentials, but I've been retired for a few years now. Just wanted to explain I'm not an idiot... although I was when I ordered this, and for that, I am truly embarrassed.I'm sending this laptop back and submitting this feedback. HP makes some good products. If all you need is to browse the web, maybe do a little word processing, then by all means, go for it. If you are any more serious than that, choose something else... maybe twice as expensive or more.Call me embarrassed and humiliated in West Palm Beach, Florida. On that note, can I send our newest resident (the POTUS) to you? He surely doesn't belong here... and he's not loved here, either.

Inaccurate Description - Windows 10 S Mode
This computer is close to what is expected for the money, with two major exceptions. First, the description lists the operating system as Windows 10 when in fact it is Windows 10 S Mode. If I would have known this I would have not purchased this computer. And before you say, "Oh you can just switch out of S mode", I have been unable to switch out of S mode after following all available instructions. The Windows store regularly breaks and that is what you have to rely on. This is false advertising.Second, this computer has a very non-standard touchpad setup, with a tilt left/right for buttons instead of actual buttons. Combine this with a keyboard with a 2-simultaneous key hardware limit, and this computer is completely unusable for anything except for very light web browsing.

Great Utility PC Upgrade.
A great upgrade for an older Dell at a great price. The Dell laptop my beloved uses for e-mail, music and the like was having increasing problems connecting to the household wireless and to the internet in general. It was clearly time for a replacement. As she is not a gamer, she needed something pretty basic and robust. This is a great choice.Pros:- Easy set up- Solid connection to the household network- Great audio- Nice screen- Fast processorCons:- the 14 inch screen is a little small for her.I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

A good device. Uncomplicated.
This laptop works for me. I haven't had it long but it has done what I needed to do thus far. I have Hulu and Amazon Prime Video and though the screen is on the small side it's large enough to be satisfactory. With web searches it processes quickly and well. I think it is suitable for my needs at present. It's my first laptop and it works for a learning experience.

Hate It!
Don't know what Microsoft was thinking when they developed Windows 10. Nothing accessible or recognizable. As if they created their own language that the average user does not speak. Everything is buried under layers of guichy titiles that give no clue as to where programs reside.Keyboard is an abomination! Keys are so shallow, no way of knowing where your fingers are going while typing. Also seems to have a mind of it's own. I have attempted to type this eval. 4 times, and it deletes, changes, pages pop up with no more than a sleeve getting too close to the keyboard or a breeze coming in the window.Save your money or spend elsewhere!!!
