Haribo Gummi Candy, Strawberries, 5-Pound Bag

Haribo's gummi strawberries are some of the tastiest candy available. I may be biased because I've loved gummi candies (ESPECIALLY those from Haribo) for pretty much my entire life. There's just something about the perfect combination of texture and bite that make chowing down on chewy fruit-flavored candy a happy activity.Strawberries are one of my favorite fruits so naturally I was overjoyed when I found out many years ago that Haribo made a gummi strawberry candy that, as a bonus, even looked like the fruit it was trying to imitate! They obviously don't taste like actual strawberries which have a sort of tartiness to them, but they do taste as good as if not better than any other imitation strawberry flavor out there.These candies are so good I can just munch on them - two or three at a time - for hours (which I guiltily admit I have done in the past at work). The price can't be beaten, either - believe me, I've looked high and low for a candy specialist that can sell this much sweet goodness at this low a price!And my family loves them as well. My two young boys can't get enough of them, and even my wife who doesn't really like gummi candy all that much can put down a dozen or so pieces.If you like strawberry flavored candy and love gummis, I highly recommend you try this (or even a smaller package if 5 lbs. scares you) - you won't be disappointed!

This is my favorite candy and it’s so hard to find!!!Typically I have to go on a trip cuz I can get them in airports. Not too sweet, super fresh and great texture! Definitely the real deal from the masters of gummies💕 I keep them in a plastic sealed container, still in the bag and they stay fresh as it takes a quite awhile to make it thru each bag. My friends laugh when they find out I order a 5 lb bag but so so worth it😁

There is no better food on this planet than Haribo gummy strawberries. Seriously. I first had them in 1993 when a neighboring town had the grand opening of its mall. The candy store there had them and I fell absolutely in love with them.This town had a movie theater and my town didn’t, so every weekend me and my friends would drive up for movies. Every time; every SINGLE time we went to the movies, I would get as big a bag as I thought I could afford. It was an obsession. I became known for always having a pocket full of strawberries. Usually in a ziplock bag, but let’s be honest, I’ve eaten my share of too warm, lint-covered gummies.I’m from oklahoma, and our summers are desert-hot with the bonus of the humidity of the ocean floor. Often I’d forget a baggie of gummies in a book bag or in my car. The summer heat would melt them completely. Occasionally I would drink the gelatinous soup out of the bag, but more often, I’d try to make custom shaped molds and resolidify them to make my own Gummies. They never tasted as good after that, but I loved them anyway.My mom noticed my love for them, and, as a treat one birthday, she went to the store and ordered an entire case of them for me. This five-pound case. There wasn’t then, and doesn’t now, seem to be any way to get haribo strawberries any where but from dedicated candy shops and now, finally, from amazon.Be warned: it is very easy to over-binge on these gummies and make yourself horribly ill. Every birthday I’d get this five-pound case of them, and by the time I powered through them, I was actually done with them for most of the year. That is until my next birthday came around and I was ready for them again. Surely five pound of gummies a year is plenty.Unfortunately for my younger self, the American mall is quickly becoming a thing of the past. The candy store that I religiously visited finally closed shop. The woman that opened it was the same woman to finally close it. The two of us were friendly thanks to my obsession and I said a genuine farewell to her when she closed up shop. I wasn’t there on her last day, but I was there the same week she closed. So I was there opening day and closing week.For years I had to simply dream of that gelatinous treat that the gods themselves had made. Until a wild curiosity brought me to amazon..... there it was in all it’s five-pound glory.I know I had said five-pounds was enough gummy for a year, but in the past six months l, I’ve been through three bags. Bear in mind, I’m not a big guy. I watch what I eat, I run, I lift. I try to take care of myself; but this strawberry flavored crack is my weakness.Please, do yourself a favor. Buy these gummies. You’ll be happy you did.

Funny thing about this order: I thought these were a different kind of strawberry gummy that I like from a different company (and which I have yet to find to buy in bulk). So I ordered these gummies by mistake thinking they were the strawberries I was looking for and it turned out they weren't. However, I was not disappointed that much since I do like Haribo gummies in general and these strawberries are tasty nonetheless. I've nearly finished the entire 5lb bag from my order on Jan. 4th, but I don't plan to order these particular strawberries again. Not because I didn't like them, but because there is another strawberry gummy that I like more over these (sorry, Haribo!). But don't let my preference dissuade you from purchasing these. The price is right and the 5lbs will last you a while and they are of great quality.

Update: 1/31/17Ordered a new bag. They are still the same great taste and I'm still able to use the original bags mentioned below to make sure they stay fresh. The longer they are exposed to the air the less enjoyable they can be.---Original reviewI'm addicted to these guys, so much more than gummy bears. The price is a little higher than I care for but compared to the mall and airport shops that I could only find them, it's worth it.TIP: Use a re-sealable bag for these to keep fresh. We had bought a large reseable gummy bear bag because it was on sale at Walgreens and we had points (so free). These can be dumped into here and "metered" so you don't eat all of these at once. Plus they can be used on road trips in colorful bags instead of using up all your normal bags. Has worked well so far.
