Good buy
Are you like me? Searching all these dang reviews to base your purchase off of?If so..oops! I saw this didnt have the best ratings...a ton of mid range ratings. All i have to say for those people is WOW..if you dont or cant work this product...then that is on you bro/sis.This product is the SAME as the P90x pullup bar, MINUS the cost and minus the p90x imprint. Overall, this bar is great. I am 6'5 220 and i WAS 280. I have used this bar for a long time, over 2 years..and I can vouch for it. Now that being said, the use of the bar is great IF you are going to make sure that you have the safety latch abouve the door. Now this latch isnt to save you or anything, it is made to simply keep the rack on the door frame. its a flimsy piece of tin. Its garbage tin and probably scrap tin, but does its job flawlessly. So, dont buy the other Iron gym pull up bar IF you are taller than 5'8. You cant get to shoulder width, which is where the best pull ups are done.Wow. I said I would never leave a long review cuz it looks fake...and here I am.Buy it.

What was I thinking?
Ok, so by now everyone should have read enough reviews about this device fitting a door. It fit mine. But if it didn't, I would have just bought the extender bar that is offered in the insert packet. Now, putting it together, was fairly easy - for the most part. The only instructions you get is a blown out diagram. It does come with a little tool for the bolts, but if you have a tool set, you probably can get it done a little quicker. Here is my problem, and it's MY problem not the Iron Gym's. I really struggled doing chin ups with this thing! didn't know I was THIS weak! granted, I weigh 230lbs (yep, it holds me well, although when I first put all my weight on it, I heard the wood door frame cry a little, but it forgave me!)I just thought I would be able to hold my own weight! Here is my advice - DON'T GIVE UP! it may seem pointless when you only can do one or two reps - but you will get stronger! Sooner or later, you will look like the guy on the front of the Iron Gym Extreme box!

The picture is misleading and it the product is cheap..
1. The box was totally different, it wasn't the red Iron Gym Xtreme one. The assembly was a pain in the ***. It literally took me hours to assemble it because it would always look crooked (it still does but I gave up, later i realized one of the curved parts was a little bit longer or higher than the other one and that's why it looks crooked).2.The bolts were flat headed and you have to maneuver your way to tighten them with out them moving.3. The little crappy tool they give you for the nuts was annoying to use.4. It didn't look sturdy enough so I had to wrap some parts with duct tape.5. Also, the grips ripped when I put it on the wall because of the force of my weight would make contact with the moulding trim of the door, so I had to duct tape them as well so they wouldn't tear even more.6. There was one photocopy (not even the original color one) of the "instructions" but you couldn't see s*** and you had to use common sense to know figure out how the parts and bolts went.7. The pull-up straps for abs didn't come.overall, this product did not meet my expectations positively.

Plastic support bar instead of wood & thinner foam?
Got a good deal from Amazon Warehouse Deals. Each & every part was wrapped neatly in its original packing material. After careful inspection prior to assembly, only noticed minimal paint scratches to the inside connecting main support tube & only one of the plastic caps had a small crack. For years I've been using the Champs Sports doorway chin-up bar & was happy with it. I decided to purchase this since this has wide-grip handles than my old one didn't. I would easily have given this a 5-star rating for its aesthetics & functionality but comparing it to my old one I had to knock it down a couple of notches:- The bar that latches on to the top door frame is made of plastic instead of wood. Might be good for buffering the doorframe but in time the plastic bar might warped & crack rendering it useless. 0.5 star-point off for this.- All the foam grips are thin & not as spongy as my old one. Only time will tell if this will last. 1.5 star-point off for this.- Could've made the nuts & bolts match the color of the frame but I guessed it could be a safety issue.- When hooked in, the whole unit still angles up a little like the old one due to the thickness of my top doorframe. The plastic bar lands on the top doorframe but doesn't mar it unlike the thinly-foamed main support bar latching on to the side doorframe. All in all it's a good value for the price I paid for it. Only thing I could think off it that the original purchaser returned it because the significant other may have complained about the door frame marring. It's not an issue to me since the side doorframes are already marred to begin with from the original chin-up bar. The marring can be described as a slight curved indentation on the old painted wooden doorframe. I was a bit overweight over the years (peaked at 185 lbs.) that attributed to the marring but have lost a lot (+25 lbs. less) since the past year. No safety concerns as long as it's latched on squarely on the doorframes - 3pt. contact. It's sturdy; holds my weight.
