One of two windows is worse than the other and looks
These are inexpensive. I was replacing an old set. Unfortunately, the spines that run through these warp and curl so the blinds bow and ripple rather than hanging flat. I didn't look to see who manufactured my prior set, but they didn't have this issue. One of two windows is worse than the other and looks, frankly, a little ridiculous--though it's in a bedroom and rolled up most of the time so I'm not going to bother returning or replacing it. Compared to my prior set, the pull cord on these is more like a heavy shoelace than a thin cord -- that means it tangles less but it's also more prominent. The hardware at the top is also larger and more noticeable than on my prior set. They're as opaque as the prior set, so still a good privacy filter. Easy to hang: all of the hardware is provided. I needed only a ladder and a punch to get the hole started in the wood around my window frame. The length is generous.

Unlike blinds that are 46.5" wide FOR a 48" window opening, this is exactly 48" wide, so it will not fit inside a 48" window opening. To remedy, I left the blind rolled up just as it came and cut 1.5" off one end using a mitre saw. I've installed a couple of these and I've been disappointed that the hooks and a gap show at the top. To remedy this, I cut a piece of 3" wide fluted trim and installed it inside the window opening (to cover the hooks) using L-brackets. I use these blinds on large over-the-tub bathroom windows where I still want light and some window covering texture but don't want to install window film or have to climb in the tub to open and close 2" blinds.

Just beautiful!!!!
I saw these last night in 'How stella got her groove back' and knew I made a wise choice. I just moved into a home and am decorating with an oriental theme. These blinds look very sleek and classy. Arrived well packaged, no stains or difficulty putting up and the cream colored heavy waxed paper looks beautiful with the thin bamboo trimming. I handled them pretty rough and they didn't tear or bend out of shape. Allows diffuse light in and offers privacy as well. Can't vouche for UV blockage but I wouldn't hang these in the window that takes over 6 hours of full sun. I can see that it would probably warp or fade them pretty quick.

Very poor quality control.
spots of discoloration have appeared--kind of looks like big oil spotsI've been buying these shades for years, and the quality has declined significantly. With this most recent shade, I put it up, but didn't roll it down and discover defects until after the 14 day return period. When I called, they refused to replace it because the 14 days had lapsed--even with my sending photos of the defects in the paper. I bought a similar shade about a year ago and gradually, spots of discoloration appeared--kind of look like big oil spots. When I sent them photos, they said something must have touched it that caused the discoloration (it's all over the shade), however, nothing has touched it. I asked if they could replace the two shades with cotton fabric shades, but they refused. When I told them that their quality control was very poor (in two separate emails) & they really needed to address it, they wouldn't comment on it. I should note that I haven't found another company that makes these shades, or I definitely would have gone with them instead. Very poor customer service & there's no excuse for the lack of any quality control measures in place.

Total privacy while letting light in
Bought this to replace my old one in the bathroom after it finally wore out. This one seems thicker and more fabric-like than my old rice-paper blind which lasted for years, so I have high expectations for this one. Lets the light filter in but total privacy! Easy to install, easy to roll up and down. Good value.

Convenient and attractive
I had this kind of shades on my windows since 1980!! Despite the fact they are in paper, they survived rather well, mainly because I handle them carefully. It was time to renew them, and I ordered new ones. They are very practical, lightweight, very easy to install, and reasonably priced. They allow light to go through, giving a nice and pleasant glow! If you are not careful, they can be damaged fast since paper is fragile.Update on October 2, 2012I made a second order to complete replacement of my shades. It is a pity you can't easily find these shades in stores, but at least they are available at Amazon!

Very Attractive & Easy to Install!
Exactly like the pic, mine was 6' wide, so carefully unpacked and laid it on the floor while I figured out how to assemble this blind without poking a hole in the paper :)Very good value no need to drill, just a couple of heavy duty picture hooks were all that was needed. However it only gets 4 stars because one of the pull strings has got jammed in the mechanism so constantly stays up.It still looks very nice, no faded yellow just clean bright white that harmonizes nicely with my husbands maple desk & furniture, More importantly diffuses the glare of the morning sun.

Overall the blind is excellent for the price
Overall the blind is excellent for the price. Unfortunately, my blind arrived with a small dark oil stain on it (lower left corner). This blind is definitely a little clunkier than the older version I have in my kitchen. FYI Amazon will only let you purchase one blind total. I have two windows. I have to get the other one through a different website for more money. boooooo
