I purchased this to combine my locs before reattaching them. I want thicker locs instead of the traditional size. This tool worked out to be great. It’s durable not cheap and flimsy, it does really well. Just have to be careful not to poke yourself cause it hurts. The picture is the locs I’ve combined so far.

All these tools help me to maintain my hair during the weeks between salon visits.I honestly think the way the stylist rolls my hair together with gel does nothing to help my hair lock because a bit of water and motion and BOOM the hair around my roots is free all over again. The salon gives me a sleek very neat look, which I can't at all achieve myself.After I wash my own hair it gets puffy and wild at the roots. I also have strands of flyaway hair that refuse to pick a loc to join and stay there. My hair is very soft at the root so each of these tools help me to gently get my new growth to go where I want it to be and STAY THERE! No gel or extra product needed which is SUCH A PLUS. I have allergies and skin conditions so products cause build up or irritation even if they claim to be organic or all natural (which is annoying).The needle looking tool allows me to loop the end of my locs through the new growth and tighten it back up. The hooks help loose hair or frizzy hair around the lock get integrated into whichever loc I want. I appreciate having this power over my hair because this ensures that my hair is joining together over time. I love the all natural not product needed approach so it assures that my hair is product free (except for three oils I mix together and dab on my scalp at the very end).WARNING: the hooks are VERY FRAGILE and bend easily. They are easy to bend back. I also had to superglue one hook back into its hole after it fell out. BE GENTLE. They are also VERY SHARP to mind your fingers when you use them. The price was right and the urge to reloc my hair was there. I’ve had locs in the past and I combed them out but recently I’ve been wanting them back but with my hair it’s such a hassle to maintain and I didn’t want to go through the entire process again, so this time I instant loc’d. My hair looks just like it did when I loc’d last time without the year of getting it to this state, I still have a ways to go before it’s mature but at least I can wash my hair frequently without it unraveling. I’ve also been using this kit to interlock my son’s locs. Don’t think just buy

Like many of the other reviewers, I bought these tools to use on my daughter's dread locs. I had seen numerous tutorials on locking using the crochet hook, so popped on here to find the right tool. The tutorials did NOT mention sizing, so that caught me off guard and I just decided to go with a size that seemed in the middle of the variations that popped up in my search. This was it! Several people said that the 3-prong hook was the fastest for locking, so I figured this multi-pack would be great! When it came down to it, though, I only used the 1-prong hook. I simply couldn't get the hang of the 2 or 3-prong ones! The crochet hook technique definitely helped me to loc the dreads more securely, but it DID take a bit of practice! Now, regarding the product specifically, the big thing that I do NOT like is the shape of the handle. At first, it seems nice: flat and smooth. However, after hours of locking, the flatness means that the edge of the handle is rubbing on fingers, leaving them SUPER sore! I think it would be a much better design to have a rounded handle, instead. The integrity/quality of the tools is great, and seems to be similar in design to most others on the market, though.

I love this thing. I just wish the crochet hook wasn’t so flimsy. Wish it was more sturdy in the sense were you don’t have to pull the needle apart because they got pushed side by side.

These tools were used for locking each one did what it was supposed to do. Just clean every time you use it. By doing that I have no rust or change in color
