Very nice upgrade
Very smooth sealed bearings. Upgraded from straight fork to tapered and every part of this headset fit perfectly, no machining, grinding, filing, looks and works awesome. Spend the extra money on this and avoid the cheap junky stuff. Well worth every penny. Installed on a budget piece of junk e-bike and the new air fork with this tapered headset is like a new bike, it’s that good. Much easier to steer and control that the stock open loose bearings that dry out every two weeks. It adds about 12mm to head tube but was taken into account to create a slacker head tube.

So Smooth and Tapered
I was looking to upgrade my fork on the Marin Bolinas Ridge 2 with a tapered 1.5” RockShox Judy Gold RL(it came with a 1 1/8” straight Suntour 30 XCM) and ended up using this FSA Orbit headset for the install. Super glad I did it. It’s so smooth and complimented the Judy Gold very well! I did have to machine the bottom cup to get it too fit perfectly,but I expected that. I ended up machining the piece of the cup that slides up into the bottom of the head tube down to 8.3mm(removing 3.7mm) so it bottoms out and fits like it intended. Best upgrade I’ve done so far. If you’re rocking a 44mm inside diameter head tube, this is definitely the upgrade you need if your bike came with the straight tube. So many more fork options, now! Not to mention the straight tube forks are more expensive now.

Love this headset.
Awesome. Was able to slap a tapered fork on my non tapered head tube. Now I'm out brappin and slapping baby.
