NOT AN EASY PROJECT
The idea is deceptively simple. Dig a 4' hole and top with the plastic cover. Easy right? NO! Try doing this project with a significant other by hand and you may end up single at the end. Sweat and tears went into setting this thing up. SAVE YOURSELF and either rent an auger or just hire someone with the tools to dig the hole. Whatever you do, unless you have the softest dirt on the planet and want to make your life harder for no reason, USE AN AUGER. It's only about $60 to rent at Home Depot or Lowe's for a few hrs. Other that that, set up was straight to the point, it looks good, and we'll see how well it works. UPDATE: after a couple months of use, I am definitely happy with this item/idea. There's no smell except for some brief whiffs that happen when watering what I now call lovingly the "sh!t hole". I have 3 dogs between 35-50lbs and the poop amount is decomposing quickly enough that I'm not worried about the hole filling up, but we'll see how it goes during the winter months when we hit freezing temps. I water the sh!t hole 1-2x wk as needed by leaving the hose on until the hole is about 3/4 full of water. I add enzyme powder about 1x wk, but honestly forget a lot and still don't have any smell or fly issues. This has made life so much easier. I just flip open the lid and drop the poop and I'm done. No poop filled bags in the trash stinking up a storm and adding to plastic waste for a biodegradable thing like dog poop.

No More Poop Bags This Actually Works
We have two large dogs, so the idea of not having to carry out heavy bags of poop was very appealing. After using this for about six weeks, I can honestly say it’s been a great solution for us. It works well and has made cleanup much easier overall. The opening could be a little bigger when adding waste, but it hasn’t been a major issue for us. Be prepared to dig a pretty deep hole for installation. Also, with two large dogs, ours is starting to fill up, and the tablets included don’t seem to break everything down fast enough. I’ll likely look into other options to help speed up the process. It is very lightweight and the lid is durable. It helps with odor a lot! It makes clean up so easy i pick up two times a day now! One thing I do like is that it’s not a permanent setup. You can move it if needed, which is helpful. I also wish the lid came in more color options, but that’s a small detail. Overall, we’re very happy with the purchase and it’s been a big improvement for managing dog waste.

Great. With caveats.
Overall we love it for the ability to clean up fast and without having to use a bag or something as a middle man but it loses a star because the top cracked within the first few months and eventually shattered. So if your dogs are large dogs (we have an almost 100lb Doberman): 1. Make sure the placement is in an area they won't step on it much. Also probably in an area you don't need to mow/ can trim around easily by hand. 2. If you have clay soil it might not work. It didn't work too well for us at first but over time it's breaking down faster/better. 3. Using your own (natural) septic enzymes can increase the speed of the process. Vs the tiny tablets they provide.

Wow! A solution to a real problem that WORKS
I thought I'd stop by and share my thoughts with you on this thing. I bought it in March which is still frozen ground here in Michigan - today is 98 degrees, yesterday it was a record breaking 100, and it's days like this that I bought it. Before I would have little other options but to put the stuff in the trash bin, and needless to say on the hot days you'd smell it for a 100' away, if not more. It disgusted me!! I had to do something before I called the authorities on myself. Today?? I fell a day, maybe two behind on cleaning up the back yard for 1 golden retriever and 1 Newfoundland. Over to the doggie dooley it went and WOW!! I didn't get knocked over in rank smellings!! This thing is the best working item for something I never knew existed! My recommendation is 100% go buy this thing if you appreciate a solution for what I described. I didn't stick my head into the hole for testing, but both me and my wife commented on how glad we are to have this set up. It comes with a starter pack of the necessary additives, and I should definitely head over and give them a high five as well! Best solution to a long problem that I've discovered in years! Oh, and one last point, I'm no affiliate or paid review guy.. just a guy that wanted to show some consideration for anyone within striking distance to my trash can (Before)

Great idea but flimsy product
The concept is great and exactly what I was looking for. The build quality is disappointing for how much this cost. The entire container is thin plastic, seems to be decent strength, but nowhere near as strong as say a PVC pipe or 5 gal bucket. Once I put it in the ground and pushed the dirt near the opening, I heard it crunch! Thankfully it was not damaged and I put a decorative fence around it to prevent anyone from stepping close. But if I was putting this in a place people walked I'd be very concerned. I'm ok with the purchase, it's in the ground now. Took about two hours to dig the 18x18x16" hole, followed by a 4 foot hole. So my primary concern is whether this thing will hold up coz digging it out will be a total pain (not to mention disguisting). In hindsight, a 5 gal painters bucket with an easy open lid would be a better and less expensive solution. Just dig the opening for the bucket then a 4ft post hole and buy the septic solution. Do make sure you test your soil drainage capability by digging the first hole, filling it up with water and make sure it drains within ~24hrs. I still gave this 3 stars. If it works then it's worth it imo, though overpriced for what you get.

Brilliant!
I was skeptical, but this turned out to be the perfect solution to poop bags filled with stink waiting for the garbage collector. We live in FL. A day in the garbage with 90 degree weather and we had a stinky mess! YES, you need a post hole digger. YES, there is no smell. We have a sandy backyard so the water doesn’t stay in the hole very long, but no problem. We put a couple gallons of water in the hole about once a week and throw in an enzyme tablet. We have a small dog and have had this about 6 months. The hole has filled in a couple of feet (mostly from the sand caving in from the sides when spraying a hose), but the top is still secure. We’ll get years out of this hole. We have this in our side yard, in the shade and a lawn more doesn’t go over it, so it hasn’t faded or become brittle or cut up. All is good. I’m ordering another for my son’s backyard and his 2 large dogs. I don’t like picking up poop and bagging it when I dog sit, but I WILL drop it into this collection device! ***UPDATE*** 10/2024 We just moved this for the first time….filled the old hole with dirt from the new hole….all is good. My son hit the top of his with a lawnmower. The replacement top fit perfectly….He is on a second hole already…..2 large dogs. He doesn’t use the enzyme tablets or refill the water and it does not smell. I STILL give it 5 stars….. BTW my sister just bought one too!

Does not work
I have well irrigated soil, dug the hole larger than they required, deeper than they required, and add the enzymes weekly and water almost daily. I have two boxers, neither of which are overly large dogs, and neither poos a ton. I installed this in the spring, and though there is water all the time, it's filled to the top and is going nowhere. What a joke. Do not recommend. Also, the "step to open" for the lid is not a thing. If anything, you have to lift with your toe or use the scooper rake to open it. When you open the lid, you are smacked in the face with the smell...it resembles an outhouse that has not been maintained. Then the odor fills the large yard I have and lingers. Top all of that off with the fact that it's just so cheaply made...and you've got a loser, folks. I suspect the good reviews are of when people first install it, but then they never come back to update that this is, for lack of a better word, a crappy system. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL. UPDATE: I started putting Green Goblin septic packs in this once a month, and it's making a pretty big difference. That said, I had to stop using it for like a month now to let it start really working, and pouring organic liquids like milk, etc. in there instead of disposing of it as per normal procedures makes a big difference as well. Still though, I would not purchase this system again, and if I had it to do over again, I would make the hole MUCH wider for the bottom and about halfway up, poking holes into the ground on the sides and bottom. I would also simply get a 5-gallon bucket with a lid from Lowe's to insert into the ground instead of this overpriced hunk of junk.

Up there with sliced bread!
I can't believe this nifty product isn't recommended in a Dog Owner's 101 course somewhere. I love it! I'm not going to lie to you - digging a five foot hole was not an easy task but so worth it in the long run. I did not have an auger so to get 5 feet down my hole had to get pretty large. The plastic is a little bit flimsy and didnt hold the shape very well when we put the dirt back on top so we framed the sides of our hole with some scrap pieces of wood and all was good. For maintenance, I add two "Waste Terminator" tablets per week (one per dog) and 4 litres (milk jug) of water every time I add poo. Very easy and absolutely no smell even when I open the lid. I suppose, like other reviews say, there maybe cheaper ways to make your own one of these contraptions but I am extremely happy with mine. Thank you! Five stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
