Great Router & Range, Easy Setup, Great Price!!
We just switched internet providers in our home and told we needed our own router. Belkin was one of the brands suggested to us. I had no idea which kind to get, and not a lot of $$ to spend. After reading countless reviews on Amazon, I finally chose the "Belkin N450 Wireless N Router" which was compatible w/ my Mac OS X 10.5.8 laptop. It had overall good reviews, nice features and the supersale $26 price w/ free s/h! The self-healing app is great too, you can set it to run in the middle of the night and keeps your connection as strong as possible.Set up was easy and fast -- if you have connection issues, try this.....after installing disc, my computer showed it detected an internet signal yet still couldn't pick it up. I kept resetting the router, as the directions said, with still no luck. Then discovered I had to first restart my modem, then turn on the router, then my laptop. After resetting the modem, my mac picked up a strong signal right away. HOORAY! I then set up my wireless printer and it connected to the signal right away. We can go all over the house with the laptop and the signal never decreases. For the price, easy set up and its performance - I would definitely recommend this router!

Good router with an odd issue
I bought this Belkin N450 to replace a 4-year old Netgear N150, which was giving me problems since day one. I had briefly tried a Belkin N300, and liked how stable it was, but it just couldn't provide enough range to one of our laptops located behind two walls from the router. So I chose this N450 hoping it would provide better coverage, while still being as stable as the N300. The setup was a breeze and its range and speed instantly impressed my whole family. All was swell and rock solid for days, until I noticed an odd issue: despite its gigabit ports, it had a hard time streaming media from my NAS. Even simple mp3's would freeze and "buffer" every couple of minutes. Mind you, the NAS, as well as my desktop PC, on which I usually play them, are both HARD-WIRED to the router! Ironically, the N300, while lacking gigabit, had no such issues.I tried all I could think of, messed with the settings in both the NAS and the N450, called Belkin support, and I must say that, although they seemed to be located in India, they were okay and tried their best to help me, and when they couldn't, they took my number down, and someone from level 2 in fact tried calling me the next day, a rare occasion it seems these days. At least, another company I was dealing with at the same time never called back. Anyway, none if this helped, and I reluctantly returned it. It was just too frustrating in that one little part, despite the rest of its functionality being simply excellent. I am still at a loss as to what the reason was, or if I simply got a defective unit, but after getting a comparable dd-wrt-able competitor's product, I am perfectly happy. No issues, no freezing, no caching, nada.

Great value and exceeds expectations
I actually went out and bought the belkin 150 wireless N a few weeks earlier and noticed this one was a little cheaper on amazon and a part of prime. So I decided to get it since the speed is about 3x fast, it has a gigaport, and two antennas. It is a good value. I have several devices connected to this simultaneously and haven't had an issue. In fact it recognizes and automatically configures itself to my old belkin install stuff on my laptop (all that admin stuff). I had thought about getting a faster model than this but opted against it considering that this one was so cheap and pretty much does the job (home use). I have a decent size house and yard. I get a strong signal pretty much everywhere I've tested and the wireless is substantially faster than my belkin 150 was. I had thought that I needed a dual band router for a faster connection but after a lot of research it appears that most people actually cannot take advantage of the 5ghz band unless your wireless adapter has the dual band capability. Moreover, the 5ghz band is really effective if your close to the router and the signal quality actually diminishes thru walls etc. In other words if I'm in bed watching netflix or so, I won't be using the 5ghz band since my router is on the other side of the house downstairs. I recommend this router mainly b/c its the best price for what it offers. I can't understand why people are spending like $200 for the apple airport port!

Think I figured out some of the issues
I bought this because of the price and the Gigabit speed ports and all the features on the router, as I upgraded my homes network. After first installing this, everything was up and running without issue. Super fast streaming speed all the way from watching Amazon and Netflix to having multiple users on the same network watching media from our server. Never missed a beat, until that evening.Pictures stopped loading on wifi and then the internet went completely out. Went and checked on the router and switch I also installed and found the router had an orange light on it. Re-booted the modem, router, and switch and the unit was again active, blue light shining. Thought all is good. That last for 12 minutes and the orange light was back. Re-started again and this time it worked fine for almost 3 hours. So I was ready to send this back because the last thing I want to have to do is babysit a router. Went in and changed some settings. After a while and after turning off the firewall and self healing, we have not had anymore trouble. It's been two days without a issue. So if you have this and it is giving you trouble, you may try turning both of those off. I will update this in the near future to let you know how it has been running. Otherwise if it stays running like it is, I will be a happy camper.**UPDATE** 09/10/2013Still running strong without a single issue. Has not dropped the internet yet. Highly pleased.**UPDATE**Thought I would update. The wireless has since became unreliable and had to be restarted a few times daily. I upgraded to a Buffalo router a while back and that runs circles around the Belkin. This has been downgraded to just a Gigabit switch, with the wireless turned OFF. Works great as a switch. I prefer the DD-WRT security on the Buffalo.
