Superb Bottle Holder
Pro: *Extremely strong fabric material. It will not scuff or tear with moderate to heavy usage. *Moderately waterproof: I would be comfortable taking this into a rainstorm, but pockets would experience dampness after a few hours (may effect items very sensitive to humidity). *Compatible with Molle system and has plenty of mesh for attaching to other packs in various configurations. My personal choice is a Condor II backpack with one of these holders on either side to dramatically increase storage potential. * Very spacious in the center pocket - enough for either (1) a rather large water bottle, (2) a PC laptop power supply (brick) and attachment cords, (3) some small cans of food (ex. tuna or chicken sized) or (4) similar sized items. *Inner lining of the largest pocket has a small amount of padding for protecting somewhat fragile items. *Outer pocket fits my wallet, cell phone, and a few small items very well but could hold more. *When attached properly with TacTies there seems to be no possibility of the mesh accidentally breaking or fraying through rugged use. Con: * Largest pocket is padded, but it doesn't do an excellent job insulating water bottles. Don't expect glacial water on your hike or walk to college. * Top horizontal zipper is difficult to close, especially when the fabric is still new and very stiff. After several months, it becomes easier but requires two hands. * When loaded down with heavy items the holder will tend to sway when attached to other bags/containers via the Molle strap system. * Difficult to attach to Maxpedition backpacks with the suggested TacTies - small pair of pliers strongly recommended to make this easier. Like many Maxpedition products, it's "Pros" significantly outweigh it's "Cons". Overall, a very nice bottle holder that has served me well.

Perfect Water Bottle Holder
This fits my 38 oz Stainless Nalgene inside a nesting cup for a great 2 vessel boiling capability. Also I carry a Grayl filtering system so with this attached to my day pack via molle straps I am capable of purifying and carrying a decent amount of water. .

Expected Maxpedition quality...mostly
With regard to the main materials, Maxpedition has done it again. This thing is built like a Sherman tank. The nylon is darn near indesctructible. It will be with me for years to come. The drainage grommet on the bottom is handy as is the surprisingly spacious front pocket. The insualtion isn't just overly superior, but it will keep a hot drink hot for a while or a cold drink cold. In perspective, we're talking about a bottle holder here, not a Stanley double-walled thermos. The ONLY reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the zipper. Maxpedition usually uses YKK zippers on their gear. Not sure why they didn't on this one. The zipper seems sound, but it's a bit more difficult to zip than other pieces of gear I've had. I can get it open or closed in no time, but that doesn't mean I'm not spoiled by the quality in their other products. Lastly, the D-rings for shoulder strap attachment are composite plastic. Durable, but plastic nevertheless. I have a Condor brand bottle holder that was half the price of this one and its D-rings are metal. Pony up for metal, Maxped!!!! Overall, still a FANTASTIC product.

More than just a bottle holder
Maxpedition quality as usual. There are similar products out there, but having bought many Maxpedition products as I have, nothing less will do or can be trusted. The holder itself is bullet proof. Heavy material, many molle attachment points as well as a Velcro patch across the zippered cover allows this bottle holder to be extremely flexible. The zippers have paracord pulls and most importantly, the whole holder is padded. I'm not sure if the padding is insulation like 'thinsulate', Maxpedition doesn't say, but nevertheless, liquids should stay cooler or hotter longer than single walled holders.I bought the Nalgene "glow in the dark" 32oz. bottle and the stainless steel GI cup on the recommendation of other reviews and both fit perfectly. There's enough room in the cover for a fuel canister or mini alcohol stove. The front pocket doesn't have a lot of room, but a backpacking stove, solid fuel, knife, fork, whatever, could probably fit. For those who have complained about the lack of a shoulder strap, go to the Maxpedition website. There you will find a 1 1/2" shoulder strap and shoulder pad for about $20. The only other addition I would make is attaching a Maxpedition 'cocoon' for other mealtime essentials. So now, you can carry a meal or two in a real nice package. I can validate other observations about the roughness of the cover zipper. I can only surmise that the problem is that it is not a straight pull, you do have to coax it. I have considered lubricating the zipper with silicone lubricating spray. Haven't done it yet. All in all, a real nice package, albeit a little spendy, but well worth it.

Accidentally perfect
As a lot of folks do, I did not get this for a water bottle, I actually got this to house an Icom IC-705 radio. I quickly learned I odered the incorrect size but I tried a few things and this actually fits my Chameleon LEFS 8010 antenna, 50 ft of micro 90 cord, 33 ft of RG 174 coax, and a 12 oz throw weight near perfectly. As far as build quality and quality control, this is far above average.

Fits my nalgene perfectly
I attached this using zip ties to a MOLLE tactical sling bag I use for my work tote. It holds the bottle great, fits perfectly, slides in and out fine. I don't bother to zip it closed because it holds the bottle so snug there is no need. I could turn it upside down and shake it and it still wouldn't come out, so I don't know why so many people are complaining about the zipper. Yes it is kind of difficult to zip but it is a circular zipper! Come on folks! How do you expect that to be easy? Well built, well constructed, well designed, as expected, perfect.

This is an insulated bottle holder and worked well with bottled water, not so well with loose water. The zip can be a little fiddly and I'm not to keen on the Maxpedition fastner system. On the whole it met my expectations and is well made.

Our son was very pleased with this. Works well on interior camping, canoeing trip. Durable. Attaches easily to his backpack.

Only issue is the zipper; does not move smoothly around the full opening when not holding a container.
