Steven Universe Does It Again
I love literally everything about this show, and the movie was just as amazing! The animation, style, and color was exquisite, it was lowkey a musical and all the new songs were sung beautifully and were interwoven in a way that reminded me of Hamilton. There was character development and new understanding, and all and all I loved it so much. So glad this one came out too :)Edit: I literally rewatched it and I know in the next few days I'll watch it a third time. They do such a brilliant job with the antagonist. Her motives and her backstory, as well as her character development, which is an amazing thing to accomplish seeing as we just met her. You can really see how much of an effect those six thousand years had on her, as much as it would on anyone. My favorite part with her is how detailed and well done her design and animation is done. It really makes her feel wacky and flexible and unpredictable, not just in the way she is so stretchy but even in how her eyes change in size, shape, and color frame by frame. The artist and the animation team did a brilliant job, as usual.I honestly can't even decide which song is my favorite, because every time I get one stuck in my head I start singing another. I don't dislike one song, and I've downloaded every single one onto my phone. So glad I preordered this fantastic film, and I can't wait for more!!!

Steven isn't done growing
I had to watch it again, the songs were so perfect I was singing them at work. I watched the release yesterday and bought it today; definitely worth it the second time as well.Steven Universe does it again making such relatable content while keeping it just as entertaining. The antagonist was thouroughly explained and her reasoning was so realistic. Not a boring antagonist who is evil "just because."Steven isn't done growing, he may be 16 now and you would think he's got everything down seeing as this is set in the future, but even with everything you always have room to learn and grow yourself. The animation was exceptional, especially the antagonists cartoon-ish movements, making the scenes so much more interesting. The music was original and well sung, I feel it in my bones as I imagine it.One-hundred percent worth buying! Rebecca Sugar deserves it. She's making incredible work and deserves to shine in the future. I look forward to seeing what she does next!

A brilliant movie for the series
Do not expect this to be your long feature film. The length and story truly may feel like yet another one hour special.HOWEVERThe music, the animations, the delivery was all on point. It's a musical so prepare for that, but not a cringy musical. Every song communicated its point, and was relevant to the plot. If you've invested into the series, this movie is the embodiment of the artists giving back to us. Highly suggested that you watch the series before watching this movie. As one who is empathetic and was able to relate very closely with the conflict, this brought me to tears. I can't stop re-watching it now. This movie is fantastic. It may not be the best movie in the world, but it's the most wonderful Steven Universe experience thus far.

Magical
I've loved this series for years now, but was unable to watch it for some time. After a long while I had finally caught up-- I was at Steven Universe, The Movie. At first I was unsure whether or not to rent once or buy, and after seeing the trailer I knew I would be enjoying this movie for more than just one watch! The story is fantastic, and truly brings together the entire story of Steven Universe in an amazing, flawless way. I can't believe how many emotions I went through watching this. It's certainly not something that people would be able to enjoy unless they've seen the entire series, but it is something people would be able to enjoy next to a hardcore SU fan if they haven't seen the series! Just having someone with you who can sort of give the "hey aliens are based off of rocks and they tried to take over the earth but this one boy.... (etc.)" could definitely give enough context to enjoy the film!I know this is just a short special, but it honestly felt like three hours with how much they managed to pack into it.tl;drLOVED IT.

A worthy successor to the successful TV show
The movie struck a good balance between drawing on material that longtime fans adore while being perfectly approachable for the newcomer. It expands on a universe (no pun intended) while keeping the art style that made it so beloved. I loved that Rebecca and co. incorporated new styles and new genres of music with the introduction of new characters.you could tell where they splurged and skimped on the animation and considering it's a straight to DVD kind of movie it's understandable that the animation budget was correspondingly not massive. but they allocated their dollars well. and more importantly they manage to more than compensate those shortcomings with wonderfully arranged and performed music. It follows the tenants of musicals very well. not exactly a fan of musicals but I was already invested in Steven Universe and I cannot emphasize how lovely the music was.

To the overly critical fans
Steven Universe is a show that is known for both being an amazing experience as well as a flawed one. The storytelling of the show hit a rush-to-the-end kind of flow in the last season, and the movie is set as a way to transition from one time period to another for the future seasons of the series. However, regardless of the flaws that the show and the movie are both known for, it is still an enjoyable experience. Let go of your critical thoughts and enjoy the show for what it is, a cartoon. It tackles a lot of rough topics and enlightens kids on a lot of problems in the world they may have to deal with, but it's not going to be perfect, especially in the eyes of adults that want to pour over every detail. It's a great movie, let your inner kid take hold of the reigns for a bit. Enjoy the laughs, tried to choke back your tears in some parts, and try to ignore the entire existence of the diamonds in the movie because those are arguably the biggest break in the story flow. The music is pretty fantastic, especially any of the Spinel songs. Just try not to think too hard on the details and have fun watching this quirky show

True to show, Exceptional sountrack
There are people who seem to be upset about the number of songs, which is silly given that so much of the cast were brought specifically because of their musical talent. The story is an excellent bridge to the growth of Steven as a character and his voice actor's vocal shift as he grows. The movie allows the timeline to move ahead in a way that opens the door to a newer, broader story for future seasons. With such a large and talented cast I feel like I wanted more time with some characters, but the songs gave opportunity for nearly everyone to shine for a moment.Overall I find this film exceptional and precisely what Steven Universe is supposed to encapsulate.

This Movie Means Bismuth
This DVD has a great documentary on making the movie. Great insight on what work goes into animated projects. Hoping Steven Universe continues to have releases on DVD.
