850mAh Battery for Microsoft Zune 80GB 120GB 2nd Gen

Okay, so I wanted one of these but the reviews were bad. I love my Zune, so I took a chance and I thought I got bit, the battery would t hold a charge, it would charge up til the battery icon was green, and then it would die in about three hours and I thought I was boned but I asked around on reddit, all the “experts” on there, and it turns out you need to “calibrate” your battery! What you do is play a video or summat, and let it die completely. Then charge it up. The battery lasts a few days for me now. So don’t be deterred by the bad reviews like I almost was, calibrate your battery and you’ll be off to the races!

I am so grateful to have found this! It totally fixed my non-working Zune player that had previously worked a couple of years ago! So glad to have it working again!

This new battery was what my Zune needed to be brought back to life. The install was not exactly enjoyable as getting the casing apart was rough and, unlike pretty much every other device, this battery is soldered in. If you have access to a soldering iron and some experience with it, this install isn't very hard, even for a beginner. How I knew I needed a new battery (for anybody else wondering): When I tried to charge the Zune, a faint image of a battery with a lightning bolt would show, but even after leaving the device charging for a full day, it still would not turn on.

I received my product on time and was set right place. Thank-you to the driver. Packaging was decent, box was closed properly with padding. The item came intact and was the right item which is important. UPDATE: 2/13/26 Battery was installed, all points correctly soldered. I put the zune back together, and it said low battery and the indicator was red. It wouldn't charge, the board is fine it read all the music, movies, ect. I had it plugged in for 24 hrs. and it wouldn't charge. I picked it up this morning while still charging and it was dead.

I have purchased a number of these batteries for my ZUNE players. They didn't all hold up well. Some charge up fine & run for hours. Others charge, But don't hold a charge for long. Might be old stock. EDIT UPDATE 2025: These batteries are old stock OR poor quality. None of the three batteries are working today. They didn't last more than 1 year or less. My OEM ZUNE batteries lasted more than 10 years. Dropped to 1 star rating at best.

Installation went smoothly just need a zune hard drive now lol.

I just installed one in my Zune 120gb and I'm beyond thrilled to say that the hardest work really was just opening the case. (Hint: There's clips inside the top half of the case's plate, more often than you'd think. This thing is designed like a TANK.) The battery needs to be hot-swapped, but it's cheap to get a soldering tool and solder. I took off the old battery and soldered in the new one- black, red, white, and blue cords. Immediately, my Zune started to charge. ALL HAIL THIS VENDOR. They made the difference between trash and a functional device by providing me with this battery. The relief is REAL.

Got the battery and followed the instruction to install the battery. Wasn't too bad. The most difficult part was taking the back case off of the Zune. Once I got it all put back together, I charged the battery it wasn't charging or holding charge at all. When I contacted the support, the staff told me to discharge and fully re-charge about three times. After doing that three times, the battery charges fully and lasts about 30 hours!!! Great replacement battery!
