Third Nursing Pillow-Used on Recliner sofa
I own three nursing pillows: My Breast Friend, The Boppy, and this Gia Simplisse. I nursed my daughter for a year, and my back and shoulders suffered for it. When I got pregnant again I wanted to improve my posture and make it easier to nurse while chasing a toddler around. Each one can be frustrating in its own way, but I LOVE each one for certain situations. I got the My Breast Friend, but it was too wide and stiff for my glider rocker in the nursery. I have a basic glider from Target, and they're pretty narrow. The Boppy is perfect for the glider. With it I can nurse hands free and my son falls asleep right there. The My Breast Friend stays under my living room end table because I use it all day in the kitchen. It's the only way I get to eat with my family, play on the floor with my daughter or get on the computer. It has great back support for being in a hard chair or the floor where there is little or now back support. On the sofa or glider its pretty uncomfortable because its competing with their built in back support. But, I just couldn't get comfortable on our couch. The boppy didn't have room because of the arm rest. If I put it on top of the armrest it was propped on one side way to high. If I was nursing on the side with the arm rest it wasn't so bad, but the other direction was really uncomfortable. My daughter likes to climb up and sit with us, then it was really tough because my elbow bumped her. My son is only 8 weeks old, so I knew it would only get tougher because I was already starting to hunch to nurse, and since he wasn't at the right angle there was more unnecessary pull on my nipples. I needed to get him level with my breasts without the arm fatigue and gymnastics. I saw the Gia Simplisse with the tapered edge and thought I could put the tapered edge on the side with the arm rest. It's not a perfect science and takes some getting used to but it solved my problem. Sometimes I even take the tapered edge and wrap it around to my lower back to hold it in place if I flip it with the tapered edge away from the armrest. It stinks having to drop the money on it, but its still cheaper than formula. I think it'll get better as it loses some of the puff. I actually had a better time with my Boppy after it got a little flatter because when its puffy it creates a ditch for your baby to nurse in and squishes them against you. When it flattens out its more like a shelf on top of your lap.I rate it at 4 because I think its way overpriced for not having a cover. I looked at the Boppy brand pregnancy comfort pillow that has a tapered edge. It comes with a cover, but the ratings said the downside was that it lost its shape after washing. This pillow got great reviews even without a cover. I was able to find a cover on Zulily.com for $13. Not worth it unless your ordering other things because of shipping, but I had a big order so it worked out well. I think for the price it should come with a cover.

Order now!
We are expecting our 4th child this May and I really struggled with whether or not I wanted to purchase a nursing pillow or not. In the past, I have used the Boppy, mainly because that was the only nursing pillow I saw for sale in big name stores like Target or Walmart. This time around I did a lot more research and came across the Gia. While my baby isn't here yet, there are major things I prefer about this one already.-The thickness tapers off from thick to think so you can find a level that is more comfortable for you and baby during feedings-It has a bigger opening for me to fit in! I feel so much better with this one, like I can breathe!-Makes for an awesome back pillow/"mommy pillow" while I wait to use it for nursing.... this pillow has seriously alleviated some major back pain while I'm resting in the bed. I love the fact that I can use this pillow before my baby gets here, during, and after she weans out of nursing/tummy time/etc.-Much more affordable than other nursing pillows on the market... especially after you receive your completion discount from your Amazon Baby Registry ;)The only downside is this particular listing does not come with a cover and I have had a hard time finding one on Amazon/Etsy for this model. Even with that note though, I am so happy that I ordered this pillow! My baby isn't even here yet and I feel like I have already gotten my money's worth!Thank you, Dr. Brown! I love it!**Update** Baby is here now and this pillow allows for her big sisters to hold her with ease! Is very effective in helping in the aid of nursing. All of the nurses at the hospital were asking me questions about my pillow and all made the comment that it looks easier and more helpful to use than the Boppy. Buy this product! You won't regret it!

Not as great as I wanted it to be
I'm gonna be honest here. I REALLY wanted to love this pillow. I had this idea myself, an angled boppy type pillow for reflux babies, brilliant! When I saw this advertised I HAD to have it. I wanted to love it. But, I just don't. First of all, it's not as "angled" as I had hoped. It's sloped a little, tiny bit, but not as much as I need it to be to help my reflux baby. I am gonna compare it to my "leachaco cuddle me pillow" which is just like a boppy. With the lechaco pillow, I can put my baby in the middle, and he will not roll over the sides of the pillow. With the Gia, since one side is so small, we will call this the "tail" side, he can roll right over it and off whatever piece of furniture I have him laying on. Also with the lechaco, there is a harness on the cover, which comes in very handy. I can place him in the middle of the pillow at night and harness him in, so he doesn't slide down during the night. (We co-sleep, and I breastfeed.) The Gia doesn't have the harness option. Also, the Gia can't be used as a breastfeeding pillow if you are laying down because it sits the baby up WAY too high on the big end. However, I can put my baby's head on the small end and use it as a breastfeeding pillow, but that kinda defeats the "angled pillow" aspect.Would I recommend the pillow? Yea, probably, but I would say to get the lechaco as well. You can use them for different things. Also, what I liked about the Gia was that you can put a king size pillow case over it and use that as a cover. Also if you use it as a breastfeeding pillow sitting up, it props the baby right up to your breast instead of having to lean over.

Pillow cover not included!
Haven't used the Pillow but seems sturdy . Product description does not clearly highlight pillow cover is sold separately rather it mentions pillow cover can be washed separately so, I thought pillow cover was included but to my disappointment when i received the product it did not. I only bought this pillow thinking pillow cover was included

Too large for my needs, but well made.
Very plush, but does not work well for large breasts -- pushes the baby too high. For smaller "milk sacks" I am sure this pillow is tops.
