If you are about to fork out large money for this read this first.
Bought this for my daughter for art. she loves it but here are some things you need to be aware of before purchasing this high value piece of kit.1. The video cable DOES NOT come with the adapter required to fit this essential line in/out to your PC or Mac. It's fitted with a Digital VGA cable so you will need a male to female Digital VGA to HDMI or whatever video out your laptop or computer comes equipped with. Remember it's digital so using this with a computer NOT equipped with the ability to use digital will render the HD useless.2. There's a QUICK START guide in the box but the full manual is only available to download. The Cintiq is not: I repeat, NOT, something you can just plug in and use if you have zero experience. It's quite a complicated tool and the set up quide is essential reading. Setting up the screen size on the Cintiqu 22HD with your computer is not straight forward and there's little advice online.3. You need room! This may seem like a pretty obvious statement but this kit is big and since it's umbilically attached to your computer: you need at least a corner sized work unit if you don't already have one. Be warned!4. Remember that this is essentially a MONITOR you can draw on and it's driven by your computer so will only operate at the same speed as your PC or Mac. So: slow computer, slow Cintiq. Apart from that this is an amazing tool. The reason Iv'e given it 4 stars instead of 5 is that at the price this thing sells for you would think that Wacom would have included such a small and integral item as a cheap adaptor for connectivity across all platforms. I personally think that, at a grand and a half, it's outrageous a customer should have to go out looking for an adaptor so that the thing can actually work.

A potentially brilliant device undermined by serious flaws
Overview:The Cintiq 22HD is a computer monitor that you can draw on. I have wanted to have one these for years, and when I saved up some money I treated myself to what I assumed would be the ultimate in digital art tools (excluding the slightly bigger/fancier versions on offer). While the core functionality is great, I have found the device to have a number of issues that make it less enjoyable to use. Part of me wishes that I had never bought this thing, because I can't go back to my bamboo now without it feeling like a massive downgrade. So, I have to put up with these annoyances.Pros:- Drawing directly on the screen is a game changer. I know some artists are perfectly capable of doing amazing work on a normal tablet, but for me the 1:1 interaction makes digital art a thousand times more enjoyable.- The device physically feels good quality.Note:- Better artists than I will be able to tell you about how good the advanced features are. I am still learning them.Cons:- The screen has an infuriating distortion effect around the pen nib. Whenever the pen/eraser is held near the screen, horizontal dark/light lines appear and flash. This effect is faint enough to not show up well in pictures, but to the naked eye it is very distracting. I had my original Cintiq replaced because of this issue, but the replacement did the exact same thing. Asking on the wacom subreddit indicated that all modern cintiqs have this issue. If this is an inherent flaw with digitiser technology, then it needs to be investigated and fixed.- The drivers are really unreliable. They often stop registering pressure + tilt after putting my computer to sleep, and sometimes seem to fail entirely. Thus far, the only reliable way of fixing them has been to restart my entire machine, which is a great inconvenience. My old bamboo tablet drivers never had this issue, so I am disappointed to see it occur in this supposedly 'professional' device.- While the stand isn't awful, I always have the vague impression that it's going to break and send my cintiq tumbling to the floor. Perhaps more a reflection on me than the stand.Closing thoughts:I am not at all pleased that a device that I payed so much for has such significant flaws. As I said at the start, I wish I hadn't bought this thing, because going back to my bamboo feels really bad. Perhaps for you, this is all the endorsement you need. And I wish I could endorse the cintiq, because drawing directly onto a screen is AMAZING. I am not going to return it, but I hope it never breaks because I really cannot justify giving Wacom so much of my money again. I will be investigating alternative brands in future.

Use my Cintiq with Animate Pro, Photoshop and zbrush
Use my Cintiq with Animate Pro, Photoshop and zbrush. Amazing change to my workflow. I did have a couple of issues in the first couple of weeks with my express keys not working with applications, they would just use the default settings. After much troubleshooting I resolved it by removing all drivers and removing the express key settings file. After a reinstall of the drivers it's worked a dream with saving express key settings now.

Absolutely Fabulous
I like a couple of other folks reviewing this did a lot of research between the 22HD (which does have some advantages over the 24 apart from price) and the 24HD but the price difference for an extra couple of inches and the enormous footprint and weight of the 24, I decided on the 22 and it's an awesome piece of kit I have used Wacom tablets as long as I can remember including all the Intuos series and this is my second Cintiq and they just can't be beaten yes they are expensive but in my opinion they are worth every penny.

The fabulous Wacom Cintiq 22HD
This is a major step up from the DX1200 I used to use. It makes animation so much easier to work at, as the size of the screen enables a greater fluidity of workflow. Wacom has always been linked with reliability, and now at the reduced price tag, also with affordability. I do recommend buying the Ergotron LX arm to use with this, as it will lift it clear of the desk space, as the footprint of the supplied stand is fairly big.
